How can i run a game fix that is an (.exe)
Example: i used to play cod IW a lot but i play at high fps. The game is capped at 91 fps and on pc gaming wiki there's a fix that unlocks the fps on the game. https://community.pcgamingwiki.com/files/file/2368-fps-unlocker-for-call-of-duty-infinite-warfare/
The thing is, the file is an executable. And on windows that isn't a problem but i dont know how to launch it on linux and make it work. Im on nobara 42 (basically fedora). There also other games i play, that it's fixes are executables... Any tips?

HDR Colors still washed out even after installing vulkan hdr layer, NVidia
Plasma 6.4.3
Hdr looks correctly in mpv.
Games tested: God of War, Death Stranding, Cyberpunk. All of them washed out.
These are my launch options: PROTON_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1 PROTON_ENABLE_HDR=1 ENABLE_HDR_WSI=1
Is this a bug? Something am I missing?
Any help would be appreciated. Ask me any more info that you need.

Very low gpu power draw
Hi,
I’m using Fedora KDE 42 with the following hardware:
GPU: RX 6700 XT
CPU: Ryzen 5 5600X
RAM: 32 GB DDR4
When gaming ( helldivers 2, like a dragon infinite, etc.), after a while my GPU is always at 99% usage, but only draws about 70-80W max of power according to btop and core ctrl. The RX 6700 XT should normally draw between 180W and 230W at full load.
As a result, in-game performance is terrible — about 3x lower than it should be.
The problème occur until I restart sddm or the computer but that very annoying to do.

Bricked my pc
Hi, im a complete noob to arch and trying to bypass EAC to play Rust I ran two commands I found on these subreddit (i know, shouldn't be running commands I don't understand so lightly, my bad). The issue is, it sent my pc into kernel panic cause it didn't correctly re-install glibc (as far as I understood). Any idea how could I fix it? I'll add the commands on the comments

Is it normal to have these issues when quitting Steam?
Here's the English translation of your message, aiming for clarity and a natural flow:
Hello,
When I exit Gaming Mode, Steam remains active. Is this normal? I then have a Steam icon in my taskbar, and if I close it, my mouse no longer works with the right stick, but it continues to function with the trackpad. Additionally, the keyboard no longer appears. If I relaunch Steam (the Steam icon, not "Return to Gaming Mode"), it works again. I don't understand why this is happening...
I want to specify that I'm using a Steam Deck OLED, it's up to date, and a factory reset didn't resolve the issue. Thank you for your help!
System Information:
- KDE Plasma Version: 6.2.5
- KDE Frameworks: 6.9.0
- Qt Version: 6.8.1
- Kernel Version: 6.11.11-valve19-1-neptune-611-g88b36D49a5e2 (64 bit)
- Graphics Platform: X11
For the desktop-mode logs, I don't know where to find them yet, but I'm working on it.
I couldn't find the logs, but when I right-click, the application tells me the path doesn't exist... even though it does. When I go into the Desktop (Dolphin), I see several folders including "home," "esp," "var-A," "root-fs," and "efi" on the left under "Devices." And by following the path that supposedly doesn't exist, I find it. I can even run the Steam application, so the path must exist. Maybe my question is strange, and it's normal that when I quit Steam via the icon in the taskbar, I can no longer use my keyboard and my left stick loses its mouse function, but it just seemed odd to me...

Need some opinion
I recently upgraded my PC and switched the operating system to Linux. It's been a bit of a struggle, but little by little I'm starting to get the hang of how to use it.
Now I want to download some games, but I understand it's different from installing games on Windows. I've read a few things on FedGamer, but I’d love to hear how do you all play games here? Any tips or go to tools you recommend?

Considering switching back to Linux for gaming
As the title says, I'm considering switching back to Linux for gaming from Windows.
I last was doing so over a decade ago, but ended up going to windows as some games took ages to get working and it was annoying me, but I've now decided to give it a go again.
Any suggestions for which distro? I mostly used ubuntu-based distros (I went through a period of changing them often, apparently installing a new OS was a hobby) but I'm wondering if there's any specific good ones currently
I don't tend to play any really new games, though I do sometimes like to load up VR (oculus rift 2) and I have a GTX 1080ti gpu (in case that makes a difference.

...Just how long ago was this package description written? This bit always sticks out to me.
Is there a simple way to limit the frame rate on specific games?
I'm used to simply using the NVIDIA control panel on Windows to put frame limits on a game-by-game basis where sometimes high frame rates end up with wonky physics.
For reference I'm on a fresh installation of Fedora (KDE), I'm only using Steam and Heroic and I've got the latest GE-Proton installed.

Steam opening random dialogs all by itself??
Is anyone else encountering steam opening random dialogs all by itself?
first it was opening random dialogs about controller firmware? I don't have any controllers.
Now its opening "System Report". All of this is completely on its own without me touching anything.
I'm currently running Debian trixie but I've encountered it on multiple distros, both steam beta and non beta version do it.

Any lazy way to semi automate reporting Linux game performance for self use and Proton DB?
Anyone know of a good app that does what the title says and makes it more convenient to gather this information than manually taking notes?

Wuthering waves doesn't work even with GE-PROTON 10-8
I use ubuntu, and i installed wuwa on steam, and ge-proton 10-8, as if it was done and i'm gonna play it normally, when i tried to open it ofc on steam, it says it's running but no window is showed, i waited and repeated and repeated. So i tried to type a command STEAMDECK=1 %command%, they said it works, but it didn't change a thing, but now i don't know how or why, when i try to open the game, it runs then stops immediately. HEELLPPPP!!

About mods not garry's mod
Do you know of mods that work without problems in gmod on Linux? To be more specific, I use Ubuntu... And is there any way to know if it's compatible?

GTA VI
For all those who swore off windows like they harmed your family, what’s the plan for playing GTA VI? It will likely not perform well on Linux at release or not probably not work at all. With the largest release of a gaming title in history, do you just play on console, or just not play it at all?

Annyone know of a Mod Organiser/Manager that works on Linux and has support for Nexus Collections
I am very aware of Limo, And do use it for light modding applications, but I really enjoy some of the more in-depth collections on The Nexus.
I know I could just get Vortex working, and I am trying to, but it does not launch on my system under wine, and that is the only way I can get it to function properly

Windows game not picking up save file stored in AppData (Lutris)
I tried running a pirated copy of Rain World on lutris, and while i worked perfect. It didn't have access to my saves. The copy of Rain World is stored in my Windows drive, and the saved are stored in Appdata -> Locallow. I tried another game (ULTRAKILL) in which the save files are stored in the same place as the .exe, and it picked up the saves. I tried moving the Rain World save folder into the game directory aswell, it still didn't pick it up. What do i do? I assume Lutris will store save files somewhere else, where is it saved then?

HDR in Cyberpunk 2077 extremely blown-out, black-crushed, unable resolv
SOLUTION: Use launch options env PROTON_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1 PROTON_ENABLE_HDR=1 %command% and force compatibility with GE-Proton-10.10 together at the same time.
---------
Gentoo linux
nvidia-drm modset = 1 is set
Samsung S95b screen, 1050 NITs peak brightness, HDR gaming mode with calibrated settings
Nvidia 3080
nvidia-drivers-575
mesa-25.1
wayland-1.24
KDE-6.3, HDR enabled in display settings
gamescope-3.16
Launching game in steam with DXVK_HDR=1 %command% launch options enables setting HDR in-game.
Setting HDR10 PQ results in an extremely washed out appearance. Light colors do not blow out and retain detail, but blacks are extremely elevated and color saturation is extremely low. C2077 HDR settings alter the appearance somewhat, but cannot change extreme color distortion.
Setting HDR10 scRGB clearly has the game displaying in the HDR gamut, but with extreme blow-out and black crush. in C2077 HDR settings, selecting tone-mapping midpoint of 1.5 results in a daylight image that is mostly solid blown-out whites even when selecting only 300 NITS of peak brightness, which is the lowest selectable option. If the tone-mapping midpoint is lowered to about 0.5 to avoid most of the blow-out, the night image is mostly crushed solid blacks. The distortion is extreme.
No change in behavior across using Proton Experimental, Proton Experimental Bleeding Edge, and GE-Proton 10.10, or any number of different launch options I came across.
Gamescope is not operable on my system no matter what options I try. Simple CLI execution of gamescope glxgears has the following output:

Bizarrely, XDG_RUNTIME_DIR=/run/user/1000 gamescope -- glxgears run as root does work and generates a window with 3D gears, however Steam refuses to allow itself to be run as root.
No amount of searching online has resulted in any successful workaround or resolution. Just about at wit's end here trying to get this working.
