New Steam install, not showing saved game

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 12 May 2025 - 4:26pm

Okay first I am brand new to Linux literally just installed (Mint Cinnamon) yesterday, so I'm figuring this all out as I go.

I installed Steam, and then successfully installed Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 after a few hours of struggling (it kept having corrupt file issues, but I was able to resolve it). Now I've gone to start the game for the first time and it said it can't sync to the cloud, I selected play anyway. Loaded the game and my saved game isn't there. I restarted Steam and now it is synced but there are still no saved games, or saved files. I checked to make sure Cloud saves are enabled both for this game and globally. They are, but still nothing, and it says I have 0 megabytes saved to the cloud.

Is there anything I can do or is this file lost forever?

Steam closes itself after about 2 hours

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 12 May 2025 - 4:00pm

Weird issue I’ve had lately, steam seems to crash/close itself while, game will freeze suddenly, and once it closes, steam is already closed/crashed. I can’t seem to find anyone else online having this issue, just wanted to see if it was known at all!

Games crashing so far: Kingdom come Deliverance II Clair Obscur Expedition 33 Titanfall 2 Silent hill 2

Gaming PC: Arch or Ubuntu Tinkering?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 12 May 2025 - 3:56pm

I want to build a gaming PC. I also love experimenting with Linux, and a question has arisen. What's more stable, Arch or Ubuntu (or any other Ubuntu or Debian-based distro) with kisak-mesa-fresh and the latest kernel, say through Mainline Kernel?

I like the philosophy of Arch and rolling release. But Ubuntu by default aims for stability and convenience. Kisak-mesa-fresh and mainline kernel make it less standard and bring it closer to rolling release in some aspects. Maybe someone is doing something like this.

I know there are Cachy, Bazzite, Garuda, PikaOS, and so on. I've tried them. I'm purely interested in the stability question between these two specific setups.

Installed Counter Strike Source on my Ubuntu powered 2012 MacBook Pro 13 inch and it won’t launch. Help!

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 12 May 2025 - 3:14pm

I installed Linux for the first time a few days ago and went with Ubuntu. Trying to get a new lease of life from my 2012 Macbook Pro.

Installed a few games like Half Life and System Shock 2 and they seem to work fine, but Counter Strike Source just isn’t launching. I’ve tried forcing compatibility with Steam Linux Runtime 3.0 Sniper and Proton Hotfix but neither seem to be working.

What do I do?

Wake up through PCIe BT Card - Xbox Controller

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 12 May 2025 - 2:52pm

Hi,

I was trying to find the answer to this, but with no luck unfortunately.

I would like to wake up the PC with Xbox Controller by pressing the Xbox Button (like on the console), but using BT connection with my Intel AX200 PCIe Wifi + BT card. I managed to make it work with the Xbox Wireless Adapter with XONE package, but I can't use the dongle unfortunately, because it has lower range than the BT signal. I have the "wake from usb" enabled in BIOS as well as turned on the "power to the usb while sleep" so in theory it should be possible as the PC recognizes the PCIe card as USB with "lsusb" command right ?

Getting Into Singleplayer Games

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 12 May 2025 - 2:42pm

I've always been someone to strictly play multiplayer games because I just never found the fun in playing single player ones. However, after all the new releases and since most things run on Linux nowadays anyways, what are good single player games that I should play?
What are some that most people tend to like, give me some from a variety of genres and your personal recommendations please
