Space Station 13 and Linux

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 14 Jul 2025 - 11:59am

I’m putting this up and going to sleep so I can view it all later, I know nothing about Linux but I wonder how playing SS13 and booting up BYOND would go on it anyways.

anyone gaming on linux AND using stable diffusion / comfyui etc?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 14 Jul 2025 - 9:28am

Which distro would be best at this? I'm pretty damn ready to delete windows. I had functional dualboot into ubuntu for a while, but a windows update somehow wrecked it idk. So, time to rip out the windows nvme and get a new one and single boot ... whatever you recommend me.

Steam gaming and ComfyUI is 99% of what I do.

Should I choose AMD GPU for Linux gaming desktop?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 14 Jul 2025 - 9:25am

I'm planning to build a desktop for gaming. I mainly work with archlinux, so my earlier plan is to install a dual system and use Windows for gaming. Then I heard that nowadays many games work well (or even better) on archlinux (thanks Valve), so I deceide to only install Linux.

Now my question is, should I choose AMD for gaming on Linux? I hear that Nvidia still has some issues supporting Wayland, but I have no idea for gaming which is better.

Appreciate any suggestions and information.

390.xx on BredOS

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 14 Jul 2025 - 9:02am

After 10+ hours of trying to get the 390 drivers to work on a modern Linux distro, I found Arch will let you do it with a patch from the AUR (I'm running BredOS) finally!! Thank you ChatGPT

Anybody else has these weird glitches in GTA V Enhanced? Looks like transparency blending is incorrect. Also, DOF is broken. CachyOS, RTX 4070 Ti, KDE x11

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 14 Jul 2025 - 8:48am

(Look around the smoke from the gun)

Anybody else encountered these issues? It's subtle but noticeable. I'm running KDE on x11 because this makes games run the smoothest in my setup.

AMD is trash with their drivers for the RX 9070 XT | nVidia has better drivers on Linux than AMD

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 14 Jul 2025 - 8:07am

I recently switched from an RTX 4070 to an RX 9070 XT because I was seeing texture explosions in Monster Hunter Wilds.

Sure, it fixed that problem, but I have had nothing but nightmares since.

First, I was forced to upgrade from Ubuntu 24.04 to 25.04 due to package dependency hell trying to get the right Linux Kernel version via CLI (because without this I LITERALLY COULD NOT DRAW A GRAPHICAL INTERFACE AT ALL).

Second, I then had to jump through more hoops just to get the right Mesa and Linux Firmware versions again just to be able to draw a GUI at all.

Third, I have had instability problems for fucking months now, and only recently could upgrade to Mesa 25.1.5 because the PPA available wouldn't work for Ubuntu 25.04 until very recently.

Fourth, that has ended up giving me even more stability problems.

Fifth, I've had to comb through Mesa gitlab issues and comments to fix only some of my problems with all kinds of "try this" things.

Sure, it really is nice to have a modern amount of VRAM and be able to load DeepSeek into VRAM which was a lot more restrictive on my RTX 4070.

But I tell you what. I have NEVER had an nVidia driver or GPU be this insanely fucking unstable, unreliable, and a fucking nightmare to even get running.

I say here, draw the line in the sand, AMD GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER. I paid fucking $900 for this fucking card and nVidia is putting your bitch-ass to shame.

I can understand drivers for any OS have growing pains for brand new GPU generations, but to this degree is offensive.

TW:Warhammer 1,2 and 3 linux native ported by Feral Interactive keeps giving SIGSEGV fault code 11

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 14 Jul 2025 - 6:06am

Hi friends.

I keep butting my head against this.

I've tried all 3 total war warhammer games which are all games ported as native linux by Feral Interactive and they keep throwing the same error, SIGSEGV fault, Code 11. sometimes it crashes on load, sometimes on saves, sometimes on launch, sometimes after a battle and sometimes when the turn ends.

Apparently, switching to proton for these games solves the issue but this kills the performance

After looking for a while on the internets, this seems to be a recurring theme for Feral Interactive ports.

I sent them an email and I'm waiting for a support answer but I do not believe I'll get one.

Short specs:

I use Linux Mint with KDE.

AMD Ryzen 7 5800X

128GB RAM tested and not faulty.

Twin Samsung SSDs tested and not faulty, 500GB as system disk and 1000GB for games, games are on the 1000GB one. it's formatted as EXT4

Sapphire RX 6950XT Nitro+ SE

All specs: https://pastes.io/specs-9910

Anyone else having this experience? Any help/critique is welcome
