Is there any way to screen share on Discord without the extra window selector popping up three times?
Distro is Arch and I'm using hyprland as the WM. I have been trying to get screen share to work but it's been giving me some issues.
I downloaded vesktop because I had read that it would make screen sharing work out of the box but that wasn't the case for me. Looked online and I installed xdg-desktop-portal-hyprland because apparently I needed that to work. And it technically does. But it forces a separate window to open that asks me to pick screen, window, or region. I select an option, then the normal discord screen share window opens up. I select my options and click go live. Then that first window pops open for a second time so I click my selection. The first window opens yet again right after for a third time. Then finally after clicking my selection again it wants to go live. But it isn't even streaming with the options I selected in Discord's actual screen share window.
So even though it technically does work. I'm not too happy with it. Is there something I am missing? I know that Discord has an issue with wayland. I just thought people were saying vesktop would pretty much fix the issue. But I didn't have this in mind. Is this what they meant? Or am I missing something?

CS2 now defaults to wayland!
For it's entire existance, CS2 on linux was defaulting to x11, which is no longer the case after the latest update!
Video proof showing that you can not see the window properties of CS2 using xwininfo.

When did this subreddit become pure free tech-support subreddit?
Last 160 entrys, if I'm not mistaken, all have tech support tag.. everything else, news, game info gets buried. I get it, we all need help from time to time but this is jokes buddy

Issues running Hollow Knight on Ubuntu 24.04.1
Yesterday the game launched just fine, running smoothly, but when i went to play it today it crashed immediately after flashing a black window on screen; I haven't changed anything on my computer since yesterday so I'm not sure what could have caused this.
I fixed that problem with this thread here (using -force-opengl), but now the game runs consistently at only 4 fps.
Ive been stuck trying to fix this for a while and if anyone has any experience with similar issues any help would be greatly appreciated!

Roblox Studio on Linux via Vinegar: VirtualProtectFromApp unimplemented function error with Wine 10.12 Staging — Any Fixes?
Hi everyone,
I’m trying to run Roblox Studio on Linux using Vinegar (v1.8.1) with Wine 10.12 (Staging) on Arch Linux (kernel 6.15.7-arch1-1). Vinegar launches fine, but Roblox Studio crashes with this error:
wine: Call from 00006FFFFFF9C5EA to unimplemented function api-ms-win-core-memory-l1-1-3.dll.VirtualProtectFromApp, aborting
I haven’t made any tweaks with winetricks or added overrides. The only modification I did was create a symlink to make wine64 point to the Wine staging binary, since wine and wine64 are merged on Arch but Vinegar still expects a separate wine64.
Has anyone run into this issue before or knows a workaround? Is there a Wine patch or version that supports VirtualProtectFromApp? Any tips to get Roblox Studio running smoothly through Vinegar on Linux?
Thanks in advance!

Will I be able to configure this mouse on Linux?
Hello. I've been wanting to buy this mouse but I'm unsure if it will work properly on Linux. I'm on Linux Mint and they're advertising it to have a "web based driver" so I figured it will if I switch to a chromium based browser. I'd be glad if anyone with further knowledge helped.

Installing mscorefonts
The title should be self explanatory. I tried to install mscorefonts for Half Life 2 (There are default fonts, but they look weird.) I tried to install via this page but that didn't work. Anyone else having this problem?

Creating Your First Game with Ebitengine (Go game engine)
If you are thinking about trying/buying games relying on Ubisoft Connect, read this.
Don't.
Refund them if you can.
Some will tell you they can make it work by using Lutris with wine/winetricks + proton GE and some strange config then Ubisoft in their great wisdom will push a patch breaking everything and you'll be like me pondering why you've even thought playing Ubisoft games would be enjoyable.
Save yourself the headache. Play better games, let Ubisoft rot until they officially support Linux.
I've tried flatpaks, the .deb and every trick under the sun to get these stupid games to work and they just don't.
Don't make my mistakes, the games aren't even worth it after The Settlers 5.

Starcraft 2 and battlenet hang in lutris
Linux Mint 21.3 XFCE
I have installed both Battlenet and SC2 using lutris. Now when I try to launch either in Lutris (by either double clicking the icon in the library or clicking play down in the bottom left) "Play" in the bottom left changes to "launching" and absolutely nothing happens. If I close and reopen Lutris it still says "launching" and I have to kill Lutris to get it back to "play". I have a feeling I might need to play around with proton plus or the like, but don't know what I'm doing.
There seem to be plenty of in depth Linux gaming guides on YouTube, but since I do very little gaming I couldn't be bothered losing a couple of hours of my life to setup a simple game I'll probably only play a handful of times anyway.
Is there anything obvious I'm missing?

CS2: Linux Fullscreen 4:3 Stretched fixed with CS2 Animation Update
The Fullscreen option is now working correctly on Linux after the CS2 Animation Update.
For example, you don't need gamescope or editing the cs2 file to play 4:3 stretched anymore.
I'm using the Bazzite Linux Distro: bazzite-nivida-open:stable with an RTX 4090.
They broke literally anything they could in this cs2 update, but they fixed 4:3 stretched on Linux...
