Valve released an update to Proton Experimental for Linux and Steam Deck today which continues to expand the controller support available for various games launchers, amongst a bunch of other improvements.

All I need is a capture card that can work on Linux and is preferably around 60 USD. I don't need anything high like above 1080 60.

I am using Linux Mint 21.3 with Kernel version 5.15.0-106-generic and the latest version of wine and proton.

Things i've tried:

• Installing them via winetricks
• Trying it with Steam and Lutris
• Just installing it manually from the Microsoft website

I'm so lost at what to do rn. I may just try Zorin OS if I can't get this working.

Hey guys,

I am looking forward to get my Xbox 360 controller connected to my Linux machine. I have done research about it and apparently you need to have a wireless adapter for it.

Those are really expensive (not the CEX one for some reason I cannot add it to my cart), so I would rather buy a off brand one. The amazon listings go for around 50 dollars, and the same goes for the eBay listings.

Do any of you have any experience with those off brand adaptors and how they work on Linux (I would love to have as little configuration as possible).

I recently ran into a problem where my Starfield on Steam would not launch on EndeavourOS with the following error and it took me some time to debug it, so I was hoping to post a solution here to help someone else in future:

When you get the following error message:

All you need to do is install the following packages:

lib32-vulkan-radeon
vulkan-radeon

As the title says I've been experiencing many issues with gamescope and was wondering if anyone knew how to solve it? "Mouse doesn't align with where cursor actually is | Shift+tab menu no longer pops up | Steam FPS count doesn't show up | Won't boot with Mangohud"

Here's my launch options: gamescope -w 3456 -h 2160 -f -S stretch %command%

I've also tried: gamescope -w 3456 -h 2160 -W 3840 -H 2160 -f -S stretch %command% (with the -W 38... both before and after the -w 3456)

I really want to use wayland, I really do... But I just can't get this to work

Older games that I believe use directx 9 are crashing on startup. It's a really odd issue and other people have it working fine. Games that done work are Battle Block Theater, Portal, and FallOut NV. I'll press play and it will show the steam logo and then go back to the menu. Chooseing different proton versions had no results. I'm running a system with an AMD Ryzen 5 5600, a 6700XT, and 32gigs of RAM.

Edit: forgot to mention that Fallout NV gives "fails to initialize renderer. Unknown error creating the Gamebryo renderer."

Hello. I encounter this issue with games like stray or carmageddon: max damage. I cannot change (lower) the resolution in stray because fps goes from ~40 down to ~10 and won't go back to normal, the same for some
game animations or sometimes reloading a checkpoint (hit or miss). If i change the resolution again the image just freezes but i can hear the game running and i can still play it (with no video obviously).

Similiar things happens to carmageddon: max damage. I restart a level 4 or 5 times (more or less) and it starts to stutter a lot.

No difference using lutris wine runners (tried wine-ge 8.26 and lutris 7.2.2) or system wine 9.7 staging. The same using dxvk or vkd3d (stray dx11 or dx12). I cannot test nouveau or wined3d because they are just a slideshow.

I'm using artix linux xfce s6, but I tried it with mate and lxqt desktop too and other distros like devuan and MX linux.

Before the likes of Halo: Combat Evolved and Destiny, Bungie created the FPS series Marathon which nowadays lives on as an open source project and now it's available on Steam.

I followed a guide to the letter, but Lutris gets hung up on installing the dotnet stuff. It complains that the dotnet stuff won't work right in a 64-bit environment, but works better in 32-bit. After several warning popups, it quits installing and leaves dotnet40 showing as installed and BG3MM gives an error when trying to run it.

If I do the same thing, but install dotnet as 32-bit, BG3MM refuses to run and the logs show it's a bad executable.

I don't know why I have such terrible luck with this stuff. It's driving me mad, lol! What do I need to do to get this to work? TIA!

I run Arch with mesa 1:24.0.6-2
My config is
CPU: Ryzen 2600
GPU: RX570

i prefer openSuse tw i started out on ubuntu and mint. i prefer OpenSuse tw it is super reliable stable good packaged selection and bleeding edge im pretty sure OpenSuse has made me stop distro hopping

i also got better permanence on my 7900xt on opensuse tw compered to other distros
