How to read a Proton Log file?
I have a few games that are well rated on ProtonDB, but for one reason or another won't launch or crashes. Ive used the PROTON_LOG=1 command to get the log files for each game, but when looking at them I don't know where to start when it comes to determine what causes the crashes. Is there a guide or tool to help interpret these log files?

Dying Light: The Beast | 1080p | Radeon 890M | CachyOS | Losless Scaling
I’m using the Minisforum Ai X1 Pro, which has a Radeon RX 890M and a Ryzen 9 HX370. The game runs smoothly on my system right out of the box; however, like in most modern games, lossless scaling and an upscaler are essential for achieving a decent frame rate. In this case, I used TAAU, which provides better image quality than FSR in my opinion, and I set lossless scaling to 2x. Again, lossless scaling feels better than Frame Generation. Lastly, I am using the medium preset.
Indoor areas are easy to get solid fps; however, outdoor areas are a different story. Outdoors, the fps can drop under 60, but it still doesn't ruin the experience.

Is CachyOS a good choice as a daily driver for gaming?
Hey everyone,
I’m thinking about using CachyOS as my main daily driver. I mostly play single-player games like RDR2 and Cyberpunk 2077.
Is CachyOS a good choice for this? I’m mainly concerned about stability, drivers, and overall gaming performance.

Overwatch 2 on older laptop with 8gb of ram
I have an older laptop with i7 4700hq, gtx 850m and 8gb of ram. I used to play overwatch on it back when it was still a 6v6 game. After that I bought a new gpu for my main pc and played on it ever since.
In the meantime overwatch 2 released and now windows 10 is reaching end of life so I decided to use the laptop as a toy to test out linux. I was positively surprised by not having to fish for bluetooth and touchpad drivers and whatnot, but I figured I'd try overwatch and oooh boy...
Ram usage slowly climbs until it fils up the entire 8gb and laptop freezes. Game sounds still work for a while but I'm then kicked to login screen with game reporting it's working at 0 fps. The only way to restart is to hold down the power button.
Is there anything I can do to fix this (apart from upgrading the ram) or do I just need to accept that ow2 won't work?

Kubuntu for Gaming – Can It Handle Valorant, RDR2, Cyberpunk & More?”
I’m considering switching to Kubuntu for my gaming setup. My hardware is:
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 7600
- GPU: AMD RX 9060 XT 16GB
- Desktop environment: Kubuntu - KDE Plasma
I usually play a mix of games: competitive titles like Valorant and Warzone, and AAA open-world games like RDR2, Cyberpunk 2077, and potentially GTA6 in the future.
I know Linux gaming has come a long way, but I’m curious about a few things:
- Compatibility & Performance: How well do these games run on Kubuntu with this hardware? Any quirks with Ryzen 5 7600 or RX 9060 XT on Linux?
- Necessary drivers/tools: Which drivers, packages, or tweaks are essential to get the best performance (Mesa, Vulkan, AMDGPU, Steam Proton, Lutris, etc.)?
- Potential pitfalls: Anything I should be aware of before committing to Linux for gaming? Like DRM issues, anti-cheat problems, or missing features.
- Future-proofing: For upcoming AAA titles like GTA6, is Linux going to be viable, or should I keep a dual-boot with Windows?
Basically, I want to know if I can have a smooth gaming experience on Kubuntu without constantly fighting compatibility issues.
Any advice, personal experiences, or guides would be super helpful!
Thanks in advance.

Best setup for Arc B580?
So I got the arc b580 12gb because I wanted something with open source drivers and it caught my curiosity (specs are in the second image)
Main tasks I do is play games like: no man sky, Detroit become human, maybe elite dangerous... Maybe in the future even some 3d modeling.
My question here is, what are the main things to follow to get the best experience, I can't find like a guide or all in one video that explains like to set it up under linux, I found only benchmarks.
Choosing an linux os over another matters? Like you can understand im running nixOS now, it is the best options? I've heard of cachy OS, Nobara, garadua....
What configuration should I apply to get a smooth experience?

Cannot launch The First Descendant
Hi all, I'm trying to play The First Descendant on Linux Mint 22.2. The game immediately closes after the initial launch screen pops up.
I've tried using both Proton Experimental and Proton 9.0.4 as listed in Proton DB. I also tried putting in the launch options
PROTON_USE_EAC_LINUX=1 gamemoderun %command% -dx12 -useallavailablecores -notexturestreaming
for both, but that didn't work either. My Linux distribution is on an ext4 format, not NTFS, so that isn't the issue.
Sometimes the game, after closing, tells me there is insufficient hardware support, but this game runs on my Windows partition (on the same computer), so that isn't it either. I checked under Driver Manager and my nvidia drivers are up to date (version 550).
I'd appreciate any help. Thanks!

Game doesnt work
I have been trying to download and play a pokemon fangame called xenoverse for quite some time now, except I cant make it work. If I try to download it off lutris, it returns an error (return code 23296) and says "the NVIDIA driver was unable to open 'libnvidia-glvkspirv.so.580.82.09'" despite having it downloaded and finding it in my files. If I try to download it myself and make it work, it stops downloading mid-in-game download and says:
could not allocate 8192 bytes Monitored process exited. No return code
Both me and my brother are left dumbfounded- does anyone here know what to do?
