Installing fabric problems

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 3 Jan 2025 - 4:17am

I'm installing fabric on Fedora 41, but when I click on the installer jar or run it through the terminal, no gui pops up and fabric isn't installed.

Hello! wine and steam question.

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 3 Jan 2025 - 3:18am

I'm having problems trying to play mgr through proton(the game doesn't start), and I wanted to know, can I use lutris to run the game with wine? Would that actually work?

My system info:

Fedora workstation

i5 4200U

intel HD4400

vulkan 1.0 (I know this version does not have full support, may be why I can't run this game)

Building a pc for gaming at 1080p 60fps aiming longevity can you review and give some tips?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 3 Jan 2025 - 2:59am

Specs: Case: Nzxt H5 Flow Motherboard: Gigabyte B650m H PSU: Crossair 1250w full modular Liquid Coooler: Nzxt Kraken 240mm AIO CPU: AMD 9700x RAM: CROSSAIR VENGEANCE 2x16 5200mhz GPU: haven't decided yet between 7700xt or newer cheapest AMD card to be launched. OS: Bazzite

This was my first build ever, maybe made some mistakes but the idea is to have this as a start since i came from console gamming.

Parts that i am not sure that was a good choice thinking about price x longevity: motherboard, Cooler.

I made a guide on how to play TFT on Linux! (Waydroid)

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 3 Jan 2025 - 2:56am

Ever since the Vanguard incident even playing TFT became a pain to run on Linux, so today I ended up writing a guide to make it as easy as possible to configure Waydroid and make TFT work great on it!

This is all because obviously running the native version is not possible anymore due to its anticheat, which affects TFT too for...some reason.

But the Android version works just fine, with some tweaks: I covered most points, from X11 support using Weston to customizing TFT's config file to make it look better. Any correction is obviously appreciated!

Hopefully it's gonna help new people to have a fully working TFT under 10 minutes :')

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 3 Jan 2025 - 2:17am

Basically, title. I've been using Discord Canary since it started to officially support Wayland streaming with audio and it updated from v550 to v552 today and now the feature has been removed and reverted to the way it was before. Just so everybody knows.

Need help running cheat engine through lutris.

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 3 Jan 2025 - 1:21am

I installed cheat engine into lutris but no matter what i do i can't figure out the prefixes to get it working, every time i try it crashes, i want to permanently switch to linux as i don't play online games but this is the one hangup i have.

Here's my starter info, any help is appreciated.

On garuda linux, i was trying to add the prefix into lutris's game with--- Configure>System Options>Command Prefix.

I was trying to prefix the game as--- /home/"username"/Games/.

Altered the username for well, yeah.

The location of the cheat engine exe is --- /home/"username"/Games/drive_c/Program Files/Cheat Engine 7.5/

I have 2 Lutris game install folders, one for GOG games, and one for Manual installs, I may make a third one for epic if they put a game i'm really interested in for free on their store later, but here's what i got now.

Gog folder--- /home/"username"/Games/gog/

Manual installs--- /home/"username/Games/Manual-Installs/drive_c/

I'm not sure drive c is needed in the manual installs one but that's where the one game i did manually install's game folder is.

If at all possible i want to do this without using steam, i prefer to only use steam for steam, even on windows i'd install gog games with the installer instead of galaxy when i could.

Thanks for any help.

Is launching games on Linux by clicking their desktop icons not a thing?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 3 Jan 2025 - 12:14am

Hello guys. I have been a Linux user since mid-2022. One of the few things I may miss from Windows is the ability to just press on a game's icon on my desktop and let it launch.

Is playing games on Linux by clicking on their desktop icons not a thing? I use Steam for Steam games and Heroic Games Launcher for GOG games. I take it that you can't really launch games on Linux through the desktop? Like, how would the game know which version of Proton to use etc.?

Thoughts?
