Sick of windows, should I switch?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 24 Aug 2024 - 9:14pm

constant issues with windows and now I cant remove and old bluethooth device.

I have though about switching for a while and the bluetooth thing is the final straw.

I love customization, computer stuff in general and gaming, I just wanna know is it worth it or is gonna give me more headaches then its worth?

Need help trying to run Payday 2 on Arch Linux

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 24 Aug 2024 - 8:41pm

Hello, I'm trying to run payday 2 on arch and I'm having major issues with no idea what to do. I'm using latest steam (updated yesterday), have tried proton ge 9-10, experimental, 9,0-2 and 8.0-5. I have deleted the proton prefix multiple times with each version and have tried adding suggested launch options from protondb. I have checked that it is installed on an ext4 formatted disk and the only clue the crash.txt file gives me is "Application has crashed: access violation" with the callstack being full of ???. Please help me as I am at wits end and have no clue what to tinker/change to make it work (other people have reported that it works on their machines with similar specs). Thank you in advance 🙏🙏

Elden Ring issues after todays update

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 24 Aug 2024 - 8:20pm

Hello guys,

since todays update of Steam (Proton Experimental, also encountered on Proton 8 and 9) Elden Ring doesn't launch anymore. Anti Cheat Window showing initialization as usual followed by the Elden Ring window (white screen). After that it just closes.

I'm new in the Linux gaming world, installed last week. Is that common after an update? Anybody else having these issues?

I'm running Deepin 23.

Appreciate your comments.

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 24 Aug 2024 - 7:38pm

Hello

As of today, no game launches, i believe nvidia is to blame, but picking other driver from "Additional drivers" (Ubuntu 22.04) wont fix issue , is there anyone who had similar issues?

Steam fails to download shader cache on Btrfs partitions.

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 24 Aug 2024 - 7:01pm

A have a bunch of shader cache updates wating to be downloaded but they never go through. Starting them manually results in an instant failure. Going to the Steam's download manager gives an error that file permissions are missing, which is odd since I am able to install and run other games just fine. My Ext4 partition does not have this issue so I am not sure what else to troubleshoot.

Linus Torvalds loves Nvidia now

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 24 Aug 2024 - 6:23pm

So, when AI people came in, that was wonderful, because it meant somebody at NVIDIA had got much more involved on the kernel side, and NVIDIA went from being on my list of companies who are not good to my list of people who are doing really good work.

Is there a way to get no name/offbrand controllers working on linux?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 24 Aug 2024 - 5:20pm

I moved to using linux full time around a month ago and just realized the only controller I have is a no name/off brand one I got that works on pc switch and android as far as I know
It registers as an xbox 360 controller under windows
but if I plug it in under linux it just keeps flashing it's lights like it can't comprehend what I plugged it into
Usually it flashes once then connects to my pc at least under windows
I tried using all kinds of xbox and switch controller drivers but nothing seems to work
I was wondering if there's some generic controller support tool I didn't manage to find or something that could fix my issue

I'm using Garuda linux

PvE Tarkov on Linux?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 24 Aug 2024 - 5:13pm

So.. I finally got PvE Tarkov, and I am curious how does it run on Linux. I mean..

I heard that you can do non-streets solo PMC runs which would be perfect for me, to make a quick PMC factory run or so without having to reboot to windows.. (Still have yet to sync the bluetooth keys, sadly)

So like, do I just grab the lutris script and go with that?

thinging about switchting to linux - two game are hold me back

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 24 Aug 2024 - 5:06pm

Partly due SD whowing me that 99% of game can run Linux i am really inclined to ditch Windows for good.

Only one (agrueable silly) reason deters me so far.
Wuthering Waves.

I run a Laptop with a 3060 and and amd cpu so waydroid wouldnt be option or is it?
If it would be a option how good does WuWa even run on it?

Cant unlimit framerate from refresh rate with Wayland+Proton+Vulkan

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 24 Aug 2024 - 4:51pm

For awhile I've been having an issue and I absoltuely can tfind any solution or even many people with similar problems. But specifically whenever I play any Steam game with Proton+Vulkan, the Framerate is always limited to my refresh rate. I would like to have unlimited FPS for benchmarking purposes, and as well as input latency purposes. What causes this? If I switch to X11 it gets fixed, and if I switch the game off Vulkan it also gets fixed.

Can you launch every game with Gamescope and Mangohud by default?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 24 Aug 2024 - 4:15pm

I mean, Steam Deck already has this behavior doesn't it? I don't want to have to add the custom launch parameters for every single game. I just want every game to launch with Gamescope and Mangohud. Is that possible?
