Now doing dual boot with Nobara Official see how it works out because didn’t want fully erase my disk then get stuck again
What is the most stable cutting-edge distro for gaming? Am I missing something by not using a distro designed for gaming?
Currently running Fedora with AMD hardware. Do gaming distros get better performance?

How to enable Secure Boot while dual booting for BF6?
Hey everyone,
I’m dual booting Windows 11 and CachyOS. I had to disable Secure Boot to get Linux working, but now Battlefield 6 requires Secure Boot enabled.
Is there a way to enable Secure Boot while still keeping my dual-boot setup working? I read that Bazzite handles this issue, but I’d really prefer to stay on CachyOS.
Has anyone managed to get Secure Boot working with CachyOS + Windows 11 dual boot? Any guides or tips would be appreciated!

Today I learnt an important lesson about Linux, Steam and save files for old games
Until today I have just taken it for granted that there is some mechanism in Steam to backup save files played using Proton, which stores most of the files needed in the compat directory. Or at least symlinked to a "safe" location.
Once you uninstall a game that uses Proton, it deletes the game files in compat.
Not a problem for newer games that support cloud saves, but I am clearing my backlog and have spent the last 7 weeks playing games like Bioshock, Dead Space and the Counter Strike Condiiton Zero games.
After completing each one, I have uninstalled them, and in turn lost my save files.
Looks like I need to get my bash on and knock up a save file backup script before I remove any more evidence of my hard spent time.

Logitech G920 setup in Arch Linux
Hello everyone, so basically I am trying to setup a Logitech G920 wheel on my Arch machine and I followed the archwiki guide. It is recognized, jstest also passed just fine and I installed oversteer where I was able to choose the wheel and basically set some stuff there. Then I opened Assetto Corsa (through Content Manager) and set up the wheel which also worked, but every time I start a track the force feedback is so high my entire desk literally shakes (the wheel is moving on its own) and I need to alt tab to oversteer and just tap the slider (I have it set to 20 but I guess the game doesn't recognize it at first). Another problem that I have - the force feedback feels really weird. Picked up a drift car and there is basically no countersteering on the wheel. It just recenters and that's it. Basically no other software installed just what I said above. Is there anybody that got the wheel to work?

Confirmed. skate. (skate 4) does not work on Linux.
I didn't have much hope about this one considering the BF6 playtest, but I thought I'd give it a go anyways.
Upon running the game, you get the following error: "The program encountered E11100B and 00002302 during initialization. Wine, Proton, and Steam Deck are not supported by this application."
Proton GE 10-15
Super lame. I don't understand why they need such invasive anticheat in a social skating sim.

Anyone with OpenLinkHub experience using Corsair Link devices?
Gave this a little time to get back to as last week as I was getting very unhelpful and unexperienced answers on this and had some time to look further into this weekend. This is why I always tell experienced Linux folks, if you've talking about new hardware, you've not used, be careful acting like you know it all.
This issue is this. Corsair has the Link connection bus that uses the new System Hubs that came out about two years ago. But they also have a legacy controller system, the old Commander Core/Lighting Node Pro controllers.
Long story short, I have a lot of both types on controllers in my recent build and liquidctl only sees the old legacy controllers. I come across OpenLinkHub which is a project in part to specifically to address this issue. jurkovic-nikola/OpenLinkHub: Open source interface for iCUE LINK Hub and other Corsair AIOs, Hubs for Linux. Manage RGB lighting, fan speeds, system metrics, as well as keyboards, mice, headsets via a web dashboard.
Just would like to hear from anyone who has used OpenLinkHub specifically with Corsair Link devices. I just started playing around with it and would like to know how well it works. For now my only option is to just set Device Mode for the cooler in Windows and boot into Linux with that on.
Currently running CachyOS Corsair Titan 360 QX fan based and LCD screen cap.

Black sqaure when using FSR 4.0.2 on 7800XT
Hi!
I'm using Proton Experimental to load FSR4. It's working perfectly fine with FSR 4.0.0 DLL, but if I try to use the 4.0.2 version (Not the int8 one, the official) I get this kind of artifact.
Again, with 4.0.0 DLL everything works just fine. Haven't found any info related to this...

Windows still superior for my games… is Nvidia the culprit?
Hey Linux Gamers,
I really want to join your ranks, but so far… no luck.
I am on an Asus TUF Gaming laptop (Ryzen R9-7HX, 16GB RAM, RTX 4060). I’ve tried multiple distros—Nobara, Bazzite, Pop!_OS, Debian, even Arch (following guides carefully). Installations go smoothly, drivers appear correct… Use Proton and GE 10.5. yet performance is always noticeably worse than on Windows 11.
Across different games—Headquarters WWII, Civ V, Old World, Order of Battle + many more (both older and newer)—I see:
- Stuttering when scrolling
- Slower loading screens
- Overall less smooth gameplay
So my question is: Is Nvidia the main culprit here, or am I missing some setup/feature/tweak that could close the gap?
I would love to hear from anyone with a similar setup or advice on getting the most out of Linux gaming.

Linux made me think my GPU is ok.
I've been having an issue for the longest time with my RX 7800 XT, my PC would shut down completely mid gameplay on demanding titles.
Tricky part is, this mostly happened on Windows. It happened once or twice on Linux on super modded Skyrim, but I just assumed was Skyrim's fault due to all the mods. On Windows though, after a random amount of time, the PC would just turn off. First the display went blank, then the pc shut down.
And only in games. Stress tests never failed. Even had better temperatures than actual games.
So I RMAd the GPU and sent them a video of the issue in case they run stress tests and nothing happens. Turned out that, yes it was the GPU, and I got a new RX 9070 as a free upgrade and replacement which works great, so that's nice. I'm happy. :)
And now I've even noticed, every game is smoother. Not just because the 9070 is better, but I've had a bunch of microstutters during gameplay in both Linux and Windows that I just thought were poor optimizations. Nope, guess it was something to do with the defective GPU as well.
My question is...
Why would the GPU behave better on Linux than it did on Windows? It was definitely defective, but on Linux, even if unless playing the same games, didn't shut down the PC, burn they did on Windows.
I thought unless losing my mind lol, but turns out the GPU was just behaving better in Linux, despite the defect. How come?

Steam problem solving issues: re-installation not doing it's job
Hello!
I have an issue with my Linux mint desktop and so far neither ChatGPT nor Steam support could help me, so I hope maybe some experts among you could help me.
So I have an issue with the Steam client that would probably fix itself with a fresh re-installation. My problem occurs, when I try to make Steam fresh. Maybe it has something to do with that I use native DEB and not Flatpak. Every time I try to re-install Steam, would it be through the package manager or the Steam website, it always isn't fresh. It just installs something like 20 mb even though Steam is already deleted which is impossible and starts up Steam like nothing happened. Still the same issues. All I want is to get Steam fresh but my PC somehow remembers, even though I delete Steam.
Could you please help me?

Linux Gaming vs Windows | Nobara 42 vs Windows 11 vs CachyOS
Is there anything similar to Nucleus Coop for Linux? Or is anyone developing it? In order to support the project
Hi everyone, I have a Linux gaming PC that I use both with a monitor and with a TV in my living room, so I can enjoy games in the setting I think is best.
I recently discovered Nucleus Coop, a very interesting project exclusive to Windows, and I must say that it would be a great program for me, since I often play split-screen PC games with friends on the sofa, but unfortunately, many interesting PC titles nowadays do not have a split-screen mode.
From what I've heard, Nucleus doesn't work on Linux, and it seems that the developer has no plans to create a Linux version, except perhaps in the very distant future.
So I wanted to ask here if you know of any solid alternatives for Linux or if there are any development projects for a Nucleus alternative that could be supported with donations.
Thank you in advance.

Dumb noob can't set resolution in game. Please help
With W10 dying, I just installed Fedora which has been running great even with an Nvidia 4090. One issue I have is I'm not seeing my resolution in games. I only see pretty much every other resolution that isn't mine (3440x1440). Sorry if this is a dumb question, I appreciate the help.

Forza Horizon 4, the frame rate on Linux with a 9070xt is over 100 FPS lower than on Windows.
I don't know if it's a driver or system issue. In other games, the power delivery is not a major problem (although the frame rate is still 20-30fps lower than on Windows). However, in Forza Horizon 4, the GPU power consumption will not exceed 200w, whereas on Windows it stays between 230w and 340w. Is there something wrong somewhere?
