Intel Vulkan Driver Lands Improvement For Helping Direct3D Games Under Steam Play
Any keyboard/mouse input makes FPS drop dramatically
I keep having this issue in almost all Steam games where after 45-ish minutes of playtime the frame-rate drops dramatically. I have identified that any and all keyboard presses or mouse movements/clicks cause the fps to drop. If I completely stop using the mouse/keyboard the fps goes back to normal. This applies both to graphically-intensive games and "potato" games (I have an RTX 2080 Ti and i9 9900K). The only thing that fixes this issue is if I restart the game (that is, quit the program and open up the game again). The low fps affects regular game menus too, including the main menu.
I am on Arch Linux with the proprietary Nvidia drivers with a G-Sync monitor. I have Steam Overlay and Steam Input disabled. I have checked and there are no issues with CPU or GPU temperature. I've already tested with v-sync ON/OFF and fullscreen, borderlees fullscreen, different versions of Proton (including Glorious Eggroll). I also am using KDE Plasma and X11, if that helps. From the looks of it, this issue happens even if my GPU and CPU aren't being used at full capacity.

Visual Artifacts when launched through gaming mode
Hi! I am using Bazzite with RX 6800 XT. I am playing Cyberpunk and when I launch the game through heroic launcher, everything is butter smooth. However I am trying to utilize the gaming mode and when I launch the game through that, it causes visual artifacts happening relatively often, I tried VRR and capping the FPS so far.

Splitgate 2 Full Launch Today With Native Linux Support
For the uninitiated, Splitgate 2 is in many ways a classic arena FPS with portals and modern movement (sliding, short-use jetpacks). The open beta dropped like a week or two ago, and the full launch is coming in a couple hours (it's probably already up by the time you're reading this).
The original had Linux support added a while after launch, but Splitgate 2 has it from the jump, and it seems to be a first-class platform as far as the devs are concerned, not one of those "you're better off using Proton anyways" ports.
It's free-to-play, the download is less than 20GB (might change after launch), and cheaters don't seem to be a problem yet (no telling how long that'll be the case for).
Anecdotally, it's probably the most fun I've had in an FPS in years, and the devs are absolutely worth supporting. It seems like it's still a passion project for them, their transparency with the community is pretty unmatched, they actually managed to optimize a UE5 game, and evidently they care about Linux.
So, if you wanna play an amazing game and support the kind of devs we need more of in this industry, don't hesitate to give it a whirl.

Elden ring nightreign rebooting
Whenever i play elden ring nightreign it reboots my system randomly when i am playing. No warning, and i don't know why it happens. It doesn't happen in any other game. I have tried switching between different versions of proton and turning of svm in bios to if that helped but it didn't. Have any of you had the same problem? And if so can you offer me any guidance?

Interesting Tools & Tweaks
I've recently inherited an old ASUS G20 and decided to turn it into a console in the living room. Being a person of overly-ambitious Linux projects, I decided to start rolling my own Arch-based, wayland-only setup and scripting the whole install for posterity. As-it-stands, I've got it booting into a dedicated gamescope/steam session by default, and built a nice little hyprland environment tailored for TV ease-of-use.
Now, that's all set, I'm feeling like there's so much more I can incorporate into this, so I'm asking all of you. Suggest me some cool projects & ideas that can be integrated. Anything you've used that's invaluable to your console-like experience?

no controller in ubisoft games
Hi,
I have a fresh cachyos installation and I would like to play ubisoft games with my razer wolverine v3. I installed ubisoft connect through lutirs and installed "avatar ftrontiers of pandora". In the ubisoft connect app I have controller support but when I start the game I can't use it anymore. I tried it before under nobara and there was the same problem.
In the wine control the controller is visible as an "generic X-Box pad".
before I only used steam and there I don't have any problems with my controller.
I hope anyone can help me :/

LinuxToys - a multitool/installer app with many tweaks
For the most part of the last two weeks, I've been working on a passion project to make Linux truly for everyone - even those who don't really know where to look for stuff. And now I consider it finally mature enough for a wider user base. Get it here!
Features
- Install many useful applications in batch - some with specific tweaks to ensure everything works as intended, like OBS Studio which includes the Pipewire Audio Capture plugin.
- Find many useful apps that enable you to do things you may not even know they could be done, like controlling Elgato Stream Decks, VR headsets and gaming steering wheels.
- Install custom runners into the Lutris you installed through the Gaming menu for Osu! and a certain group of anime gacha games.
- A menu tailored for developers who want a smooth jump to Linux with installers for apps and resources which are, without LinuxToys, very convoluted to get working on Linux.
- Many tweaks in the Extras menu, from a patch to increase shader cache size of my own making to eliminate stutters, to a CachyOS-optimized kernel setup for Debian/Ubuntu. Careful when using that last one though - it's a bit experimental and has only been fully tested on Ubuntu (default Gnome flavour) and Debian Testing.
- Available in English and Portuguese - any help with other translations will be very appreciated :)
Hope you all find it very convenient and useful to improve your Linux experience!

Skyrim Anniversary Edition SKSE64 on Garuda Linux
I managed to mod Skyrim Anniversary Edition using Vortex Mod Manager through Protontricks, however I can't launch skse64_loader.exe, either through command arguments on Steam or even symlinks. The only way to launch Skyrim Anniversary SKSE is by clicking play button on Vortex. Has anyone managed to launch Skyrim Script Extender from Steam?

Oblivion Remastered - No sound through Motu Audio Interface
First time I've encountered this. I can't get any sound over my headphones or monitors with my Motu mk5 Ultralite interface when playing Oblivion: Remastered.
Sound works fine over Bluetooth headphones, and a small portable USB DAC I normally reserve for my phone. It's the only game in my very large library where i'm encountering this issue.
I swear I saw something somewhere where a user was having an issue with audio and their focusrite interface but now I can't find it. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this particular issue before I start deep diving to find a solution.

Cs2 fps drop
Hello guys i just wanted to ask you about a problem, I have a gtx 1650 ti laptop with pop os and when i play cs2 i have over 150 fps, no fps drops no nothing feels smooth like a butter, the problem is that at a random time (maybe it will be in the first match, maybe after 3 matches its totally random) in the begining of the round the fps from 150+ will stay around 30-40, and they will stay there till next round. After this round everything will go back to normal.
Also another problem that occurred to me the last 2 days is the fps drop when im moving my mouse, again it will start at random time and then i will move my mouse the fps from 150+ will go to 10-15, if i stop moving the mouse the fps will continue at 150+. So if will look at a place with a lot going on i will be okay, but if i move the mouse then boom 15 fps and full of tearing.
Ps The temperature of the laptop tested and its perfect, repasted it like 2 month ago
Not a native English speaker sorry for any mistake thanks

Wine won't load DLL file (error c000012f)
I have a game I'd like to run on my Mint installation, but Wine keeps refusing to run the .exe file. Here's the error message when I try running the game using the terminal:
root@device/mnt/69cd2f3c-e43e-43df-b540-22e59e1add49/folder/app# wine Application.exe
00f0:err:module:import_dll Loading library UnityPlayer.dll (which is needed by L"Z:\\mnt\\69cd2f3c-e43e-43df-b540-22e59e1add49\\folder\\app\\Application.exe") failed (error c000012f).
0100:err:module:LdrInitializeThunk Importing dlls for L"Z:\\mnt\\69cd2f3c-e43e-43df-b540-22e59e1add49\\folder\\app\\Application.exe" failed, status c0000135
Fixes I've tried so far:
- running the file outside of root
- using various versions of Proton/Linux Runtime
- using Lutrix
- adding a DLL override
- redownloading all files
Any help would be appreciated :)

What GPU to get?
Hey all,
I am looking to upgrade my Radeon RX 6700XT. This GPU has been rock solid for me under Linux Mint and I get very decent results in the titles I play.
I really haven't considered switching to nVidia and, frankly, I am not really sure I care much for Ray Tracing. I know DLSS is nice, but since I don't plan to run Windows I don't think I would get any benefit from that.
I don't have time to be an avid gamer (spouse, kid, rugby, dogs and work take a lot of time!), but when I do game, I like to chill and enjoy story based titles. Yes! I'm a single player type of gamer.
So, given the 7900 XTX and the 9070 XT are in the same ballpark price wise, what are the pros and cons?
