Any Persona 5: The Phantom X (SEA Version) players?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 5 Sep 2025 - 3:19pm

From what I can scour from past posts, there has not been any successful attempts at launching P5X SEA from Linux distros. I have been encountering problems myself on Fedora and Bazzite.

Either the game closes immediately after launching from its launcher with error code 0x7ab54 (which fixes itself after I change compatability, run, and change back to original);

Or I reach the login page but the login and news tabs do not work (main issue seems to be that the login prompt in-game is not opening the pop-up window, and the browser to see game news).

There was another post about this issue, but seems to be for the Global version of the game, which does not seem to work for SEA.

If there is anyone out there that has solved this issue in SEA version, I would greatly appreciate your help. Thank you.

RPGsh: A terminal utility for managing TTRPGs

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 5 Sep 2025 - 2:26pm

I know it's not Linux gaming in the sense of playing a graphical video game on Linux, but if anyone is interested I have been developing a Linux terminal application for managing games like D&D, Pathfinder, etc. (theoretically, almost any TTRPG should be able to work with this system).

I got tired of constantly editing a PDF document and having to remember to modify the various character attributes whenever my Strength or Constitution or whatever increases. Figured since I was already doing most of my gaming sessions over the Internet anyways because my party members are all scattered across the continental U.S., I'd just write my own program to do all of that for me.

There are 25 commands, 4 data types, a hierarchical data structure for variables, Unicode support, and even a scripting language with `if`, `while`, and `for`.

I'm sure it's full of bugs since I haven't really had a chance to use it "in production" as it were, but I at least bothered to write some documentation for the program and help text for all of the commands.

So, I'll be returning my RX 7900 GRE ; what to take instead?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 5 Sep 2025 - 12:20pm

So, after months of freezes and crashes, I've finally isolated the issue and it was the GPU all along.

To my surprise, since I had already contacted the manufacturer, the reseller offered to take back the item, not to repair or exchange it.

I was kind of blind sided by it and I did not really keep up with the hardware news so I do not know how RX 9000 series are (apart from being more power efficient?), so I am not sure of what to consider.

So, from a Gigabyte RX 7900 GRE Gaming OC 16G (~600EUR in May 2024), what would you upgrade to today for around the same price these days?

Problems with games outside of steam

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 5 Sep 2025 - 11:55am

Hey, so i was trying to play World of Warcraft on my cachyos machine and got a problem where the game does not recognize the GPU and is running very poorly and with artifacts but if run games on steam they work flawlessly, i am using Startwine as a frontend to run Battle.net, also tried with Lutris but the result was the same, low fps and artifacts! For runner i tried ProtonGE 10-15 and the latest steam-proton (i think 10.0.2), the game always starts in OpenGL mode no matter what i try and recognize my GPU as HD5600.

My setup is:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800x
MB: MSI B550 Unify-X
Ram: 32GB DDR4 3200MHx
PSU: 1000W Corsair
GPU; Sapphire Radeon Pulse 9070XT

My system is updated to the latest kernel and drivers, i even tried other distros like Fedora and Bazzite and the result was the same. Also tried older proton builds but with them battle.net starts with an error update agent went to sleep and i cannot do anything so i am forced to use ver 10+. Last time i had succeess running it was when i was using proton 9.2* with steam and GE version it was running perfectly, but now even on a fresh install it always give me this update agent error with those versions!

Any suggestions what i can try or should i go back to windows.

Help reducing Nvidia wattage when plugged in

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 5 Sep 2025 - 11:18am

Hi all, so I’m playing Disco Elysium on my ThinkPad P72. I’m using Manjaro and it works great on Wayland.

The problem I have is that the game works beautifully on battery, with the Nvidia Quadro P4200 (Pascal) pulling about 35W.

But plugged in, the card loosens all restraints and the draw varies from 50-70W.

Given that I get 60fps at 4K without the extra power draw, this is completely unnecessary. And it means I can’t keep the fans to a constant low level without the GPU hotspot temp getting up to 89C or more.

As you know the Nvidia-smi options for power or clock limiting are more restricted for mobile cards. -pl doesn’t work. -ac appears to work but isn’t carried out in practice.

All I want is for the card to be fooled into thinking it’s on battery. But I’m stumped. LACT can’t change power limits either.

Sober is crashing when I try to join specifically 17+ Roblox games

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 5 Sep 2025 - 11:08am

I’m on Bazzite (installed in desktop mode on my lowkey potato Lenovo PC), Sober is updated to the latest version as of typing this. It’s not a real issue because I can always play on my phone for 17+ experiences, but I sort of wish I had the option still.

Any other game with microphone that isn’t age restricted works fine. I am also age verified and I have the settings to where I am able to join. I’m mostly a Linux noob so I don’t understand what it could be.

I click any 17+ game, then it simply closes. No crash report. I don’t even get to see a Roblox loading screen, it just seems to give up on even trying.

To my best assumption I would guess it’s having trouble verifying my information, so that’s mostly why I haven’t bothered because I feel like there would be nothing I would know how to do in that situation. But again, I’m a noob, so it could simply be something I don’t know.

I guess I mostly wanted to also ask because when I searched I only got results for if it crashed in general. I thought maybe this would help someone else down the line when they’re searching if anyone has answers. Let me know if there are any other important specifications. I can also get my hardware information, but I just assumed it was irrelevant because on windows I had no issues, but I’m no tech wizard so idk if it’s important. 😅
