Non-Steam games Proton-performance reports site
Greetings.
I've been going through my CDVD collection checking up on which games work and I'm almost half-way through.
But is there any site I could report my findings? I'm pretty sure most of the games likely are not even on Steam as they are quite old by now.
I don't think I can post the reports to the WineHQ site as I don't deal with Wine directly, just Proton (which does use Wine, I know).

Operating system
Hi guys, I'm starting on the topics of operating systems, virtual machine etc, I have a laptop with an i3 370, 4 GB Ram (I think it's DDR2), 250 HDD, currently has Linux mint Xfce thanks to a bootable USB and honestly I would like to play some what other light game, however I have had problems with the Steam directory (something like that, I do not remember well) and I can not do some things, at the moment I have only been able to use it to watch anime, videos, for documents in free Office and already, I feel that I am already used to it and I would like to try another Linux distribution and I thought about Arch Linux or Kali Linux but I don't know if I have enough knowledge to install it on the laptop, what topics do you recommend me to learn to start well with these distributions? Later I will try to upload a picture or screenshot where I can see the components of the laptop and the Linux version (I think it was Mint 22).

SteamOS can’t run .exe alongside game
A while ago I came across a Decky plugin for my Steamdeck that allows you to run a trainer/cheat executable (.exe) alongside a game you want to run it with.
I found this super useful however I’m encountering an issue with running .exe files. So I switched to Desktop Mode and I’m told that “For safety reasons, launching executables is not allowed in this context”
I tried Lutris to run the .exe, and it works somewhat however after the “initialization” the .exe no longer runs on Lutris or by itself.
Is there any way to run a .exe file so I can use the cheat/trainer alongside the game? I’ve tried using proton-tricks, wine, and adding the game to my Steam library as a non steam game (but unfortunately I need to run it alongside the actual game, preferably before the game launches) Any help would be much appreciated.

Black Screen streaming games onto Linux PC
So my desktop is running PopOS and I have a media center/VR machine in my living room running windows 10. I figure the easiest way to play windows games on my desktop is to stream from my living room PC. Trying multiple games, they all seem to stream audio fine, And my cursor turns to the in game cursor, but I don't get any video; the screen remains black.
So first, I just want to make sure this should be a valid way to run windows games on my linux machine. 2nd, any troubleshooting ideas would be welcome.
desktop PC: up to date PopOS; 13900k, 7900xtx, 2x32gb ram
living room pc: win 10, 5800x3d, rtx 3080, 2x16gb ram

Old School Runescape Not Displaying Properly
When I play Runescape through the steam client I always get a black bar beneath the game window, but it goes away whenever I play in full screen. I'm using Proton Experimental, on Linux Mint 21.1 and it seems to persist regardless of Proton selection.
This doesn't occur when I use 3rd party clients.
How do I keep the window size to be only the game size?

Miles Morales pausing and loading mid gameplay
Hi guys so I'm trying to find out whats causing this game to sometimes pause mid game and load in assets, I've also noticed that it has pretty severe pop in
I've tried Proton 8, experimental and newest GE, I've also tried it on a EXT4 NVME and BTRFS NVME both gen4 so loading speed should not be a issue
I'm running a 9700X + 7900XT @ 4K with latest EndeavourOS

Was pipewire always this finicky with line in ports?
I have a simple audio task that is required to get audio from my docked Nintendo switch which uses my secondary monitor with HDMI.
The way I set it up in windows was simple I just had to connect the jack audio in the switch to the line in port at the back of my computer. Then all I had to do is go in the line in device properties and enable audio listening.
In Linux, I can't seem to be able to get it to work at all. And I've even tried the alsamix command in the terminal and unmute the line in. Still didn't work.
There seems to be no graphical option to enable "Listen" with the line in option from the gnome control panel in Ubuntu.
Does anyone have a clue how I could make this work at all? I feel like line in audio is a fairly simple task and there doesn't seem to be an intuitive way to enable it in Linux.

Teamspeak automatic volume feature
Hello all,
after all the years, i am not playing anything which would require windows so i decided to switch and see how it goes. I have couple questions tho.
Right now i installed fedora 41 with i3. X11 does not support HDR however so probably going to switch to hyprland to be on wayland (in upcoming days, need to read the documentation first). Running proprietary nvidia drivers, audio is fixed (missing alsa-firmware package) after a lot of tinkering.
What would you guys think is better, fresh system with hyprland or keep i3 as fall back just in case (wayland may not be the most stable thing still)?
Teamspeak - we use it for larger raids because organization is better. When people talk, system lowers volume of other things tho. I know how to fix this on Windows but here i'm a bit clueless.
Thanks all for your time

Should I Get A Gaming Focused Distro?
Sorry in advance if this post is a waste of time.
Basically, I'm considering switching to Linux as my new OS for my main desktop PC but I'm also looking to improve my gameplay experience.
I don't use my computer for work so I have no issues using a gaming os as my daily driver. However, I admittedly am not as hardcore a gamer as I am a consumer of digital media in general. While I do play something at least everyday or so, most of my time on my pc is either watching YouTube or listening to music.
Should I use a gaming distro or just go with something like Ubuntu or Mint and add plugins as needed?
Also, the games I play are Zenless Zone Zero, Nine Sols, and the occasional StarCraft 2, if that matters.

State of GSP Firmware with NVIDIA 565 on KDE Wayland
Hello everyone,
i read that a lot of people had issues with enabled GSP firmware in the past especially when using KDE Plasma on the wayland protocol.
From what i've seen nvidia started to recommend the nvidia open module driver including the nvidia open dkms dependecies starting with 560+. These drivers force the use of GSP firmware since you can not disable them with these drivers. Arch also recommends the installation of these in the official arch wiki.
Can you guys share your experience with nvidia open 565 especially with the KDE desktop environment on the wayland protocol. Do you still encounter any issues. I assume we are good now since nvidia recommends it and even arch wiki tells you to install these.
Kind regards
