Fable: The lost chapters

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 19. September 2025 - 18:18

Hi all I'm fairly new to gaming on linux but have been going through old discs and, thanks to lutris, most of them are playable. I'm having an issue with Fable: The Lost Chapters though. The game loads the installer but when asking to enter the 25 digit product code it only allows me to enter 24 digits.

The first box only let's me type in (or paste) 4 digits which is where I'm having the issue. I've tried in xp mode, windows 10 mode and proton but it's having the same issue.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks all

Ow2 fps fluctuations

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 19. September 2025 - 18:15

I updated my computer recently and after launching ow2 my game would say I'm at 60fps but it felt like a span of 20-40 fps all over the place. i tried disabling the steam overlay that didn't work. i lowered my settings in game that didn't work. i can run the game at 200+ fps but my monitor is only 60 so i dont know why its being like this. does anyone know a fix or at least the problem.

Medal.exe

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 19. September 2025 - 15:41

Hello!

I've recently switched to Linux and want to use Medal to clip & share. However, I've followed other people's experiences and used GE Proton 8-28 on Steam to try launch it but it doesn't seem to launch... has anyone found an alternative way of getting it to work? I'm keen on using Medal specifically because of its social media vibe - so using OBS or an alternative program wouldn't be for me.

Thanks in advance

As you can see, it's not really a PS3 controller, it's one of those imitation ones that get the job done. The thing is, I know for a fact that it has worked with other distros, but here I don't know, it's like it doesn't exist (tested it with PSCX2+Lutris).

Genshin Impact on Linux

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 19. September 2025 - 14:25

Hi! Is it okay to play Genshin on Linux? I'm using Wine/Proton via Steam. I’ve read some posts (probably on this same subreddit) from around 2 years ago saying it works fine, but then I saw a more recent post (well, I think it’s recent — August 11) saying people are getting banned. But there are also comments saying it’s not true. So… who should I believe and what should I do? Any tips? And if you do get banned, how long does it last?

I’m not sure if I did it right — I downloaded the game and launcher on Windows (on an NTFS partition), then mounted that on Linux via Steam, set the launcher to run with Proton Experimental, and launched the game from there. There are some lags, but nothing too bad.

Problem SC Controller on Arch Linux

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 19. September 2025 - 12:55

Hi, I have a problem. I want to use my DualSense to play games on Lutris and Heroic. I downloaded SC Controller, and it detects the controller correctly, but when I run evtest, it doesn't register any input. However, it does detect the DualSense and maps it to an Xbox 360 controller. If I close SC Controller, it works properly, but only in Steam games. Even with Steam Input, I can't get it to work in some games. I would really appreciate it if someone could help me.

how do i fix my mouse randomly escaping my games on to my second monitor while playing?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 19. September 2025 - 12:13

Its 2025 this shouldnt be happening i switch from fedora workstation to fedora kde plasma which vastly improved my experience (i only have to reboot risk of rain 2 or 3 times to get the mouse to stick)

gamescope causes system instability so its not a viable option for me

if i cant find a solution here ill just unplug my second monitor while im gaming

ive tried both cachyos, fedora kde, fedora workstation,Ubuntu kde so it could be a wayland issue.

it seems like linux gaming favours only one monitor/screen (like the steam deck) because this issue never happens to me on windows

Steam games lag when mouse input

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 19. September 2025 - 11:22

In some games, whenever I click my mouse the game stutters and the FPS drops.
This was happening in Tf2 but I switched to a different Proton version and fixed it. However in some other games live FFXIV changing the version doesn’t help.

It only happens when the game is running in fullscreen or borderless

When I launch Steam through a terminal and click the mouse, I see this in the output:

info: Presenter: Actual swapchain properties: info: Format: VK_FORMAT_B8G8R8A8_UNORM info: Color space: VK_COLOR_SPACE_SRGB_NONLINEAR_KHR info: Present mode: VK_PRESENT_MODE_FIFO_KHR (dynamic: yes) info: Buffer size: 2560x1440 info: Image count: 5 info: Presenter: Got VK_SUBOPTIMAL_KHR, recreating swapchain info: Presenter: Actual swapchain properties: info: Format: VK_FORMAT_B8G8R8A8_UNORM info: Color space: VK_COLOR_SPACE_SRGB_NONLINEAR_KHR info: Present mode: VK_PRESENT_MODE_FIFO_KHR (dynamic: yes) info: Buffer size: 2560x1440 info: Image count: 5

My specs:
Gentoo, River (wayland WM ), NVIDIA GPU

EDIT: its also not on all games
