Fedora KDE 41 or Kubuntu 24.10
I just switched from Windows to Linux for my gaming rig and can't be happier. System is stable, quick, everything worked out of the box, and installation was very painless.
I am now running Pop! OS with KDE (I've tried using Gnome, but I prefer KDE).
I've seen that KDE 6 offers HDR features that I would be keen to try. As such I did narrow down the possible options to Fedora KDE 41 and Kubuntu 24.10 (which is not the LTS one).
Does any of you have any experience with any of those? Would you recommend one instead of the other? Or would you recommend against one of those? I use my pc mostly for gaming, and I have an AMD GPU. Any feedback is welcome!

PSA - To whom it may concern, struggling to pair an xbox wireless controller after a firmware update
I just updated my xbox wireless controller firmware via virtualbox (cuz I'll be damned if I'm caught installing Windows for such nonsense), and suddenly my Arch (BTW) stopped recognizing it via bluetooth.
I've spent the past few hours trying proposed solutions online, I was ready to give up and reinstall Arch (I've been thinking of doing that anyway), but then after trying to expand my search from specifically xbox controllers to just bluetooth devices no longer being discovered, I found this post, and that was IT! (glad I didn't reinstall since I think it probably wouldn't have solved anything anyway, or maybe a clean install would have it enabled by default, idk...)
I suspect updating the firmware caused the controller to work with bluetooth le (I honestly don't know much about it, but apparently it's different), and so the solution was to enable le support using btmgmt (which is a tool I learned about earlier today while scouring the web for a solution).
Anyway I'm posting this here so that if anyone else encounters this problem they can find it on this subreddit with "xbox wireless controller" in the name, which is what my first instinct was to look for.
TL;DR: If your xbox wireless controller stopped working after a firmware update, try running sudo btbgmt le on.
Thanks for coming to my TED Talk, I'm glad to have regained my sanity.

Need help to find settings to run Gods Unchained using Heroic
Gods Unchained opens with Proton, but it needs to open a browser window for authentication. With Firefox as the defaul Linux browser, I get an error 'Failed to execute Default browser'. With Brave I get no browser as well, but not error.
With Wine the game fails to load with a bunch of errors.
With other games I can run them with Wine and they open a browser window correctly.
Heroic itself also opens browser windows.
Is anyone able to find a solution? Either get Proton to open browser windows or get the game to run with Wine?
Thanks.

How can I help debug a game not working properly with Proton?
Hi everyone! For the first time since switching to Linux gaming a year ago, I'm in the situation where a game has issues on Linux. I'd like to help in the debug process since I'm a somewhat competent developer, but I don't know where to start.
The game in question is Planet Coaster 2, it has severe rendering issues, but afaik only on (some) Nvidia GPUs (as AMD/SteamDeck people don't seem to have the same issues according to protondb).
There is an open issue on GitHub where I posted my proton log, but I'd like to dig deeper. Are there any common tools to see in more detail which shaders/gpu calls failed in proton? The log seems to only give vague directions.

"EAC has detected that game files have been modified (error code 5)"
OS: CachyOS Linux x86_64
Kernel: Linux 6.11.7-2-cachyos
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070
I play on steam (runtime), and whenever I try to play dead by daylight, i'm met with this error, or these errors, as apparently all the pakchunk files of the game are corrupted. I tried verifying the game files and it didn't work. Reinstalling the game also didn't solve the issue. I am not quite sure on how I get this error, because at time the game boots just fine and I can queue up as killer or survivor without any issues, then all of a sudden, in the same gaming session, no updates, no reboots, no nothing, these errors pop up.

Elden Ring Debug Tool "Loading: No"
Trying to use the Elden Ring Debug Tool on my Steam Deck, but no matter what I try it is always stuck "Not Hooked" and "No."
I was trying to install it for an issue with being stuck in Ranni's Rise but using it is proving impossible. The only way I can get the .exe to open is using Protontricks but even when I do it is stuck like this. Same if I open it through the Non-Steam Game version on my Gaming Mode on the Steam Deck.
I tried Bottles and Q4Wine and Wine (the one through discover, nothing else would install it) and I've heard to run it through administrator but if there is a way to do it on the Steam Deck then I unfortunately cannot figure it out.

Steam gets new tools for game devs to offer players version switching in-game
Im japanese if not good english im sorry The best settings for comfortably playing PC VR games (VRChat, etc.) using Garuda Linux and Quest 3 (when I tried, there was severe lag and freezing)
I’m a Japanese who loves Garuda. I’m not good at explaining, but I’ll try my best. Garuda I want to play PC VR games on Linux. I was playing on Windows, but I don’t know if it was a Windows system, but it broke and stopped working. I tried to make a Windows live USB, but for some reason Windows ISO didn’t work, so I struggled for a few days, but I was tired so I gave up. I tried to play VR games (VR chat) on Garuda before, and tried various things, but I couldn’t play properly because of lags and freezes. I’m tired of Windows, so if anyone knows the best settings for steamVR or ALVR on Garuda (I tried ALVR before, but it didn’t work properly.) or other recommended tools, please let me know.
Long and pointless text I’m sorry that my explanation is poor and the text is difficult to understand.

Bottles issue
Hey guys,
Been on Linux for probably around 12 months full time since upgrading from windows.
No issues gaming for most of my library. However I decided to try and dive into using Bottles for a bit of experimentation to run a few of my games.
I've moved my Hoyoverse Game (Zenless Zone Zero) into a bottle of its own, and for the most part haven't had an issue on my main AMD GPU/CPU PC. Decided to the same with my laptop, AMD CPU/NVIDIA GPU and was working correctly for a week or so until.. I'm assuming an update came through and has basically rendered this technique of running these games useless.
I've uninstalled the game, deleted the bottle and flatpak software entirely. Uninstalled/reinstalled nvidia drivers and tried multiple different launch command and still greeted with this issue. When i swap to the iGPU the game launches perfectly, with the obvious performance deficit as it's not a dGPU. I haven't yet resorted to reinstalling my distro. Should also mention ive used both the Flatpak version and AUR. Flatpak has this issue, works perfectly with the AUR version.
But just wanted some opinions on this error, if anyone has experienced this themselves, any fixes or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Asseto Corsa Help
For the life of me i can't make it run, i have it on steam, i'd done the guides stating to use proton 5.0 for the libraries, and nothing happened, tried using GE, and nothing happened, running on POP_Os. If someone has some tips, tricks or anything to help, i'll thank you in advance.

Does distro matter for performance?
Hi all. Apologies if this has been answered elsewhere but does distro really matter for gaming performance? Like is there an FPS/ performance difference between gaming on debian 12 vs bazzite? Or is the difference just aesthetic? If so what does that look like? Any good benchmarks I can look at?

can someone help me please
I've spent many hours trying to get any game running on Linux. I tried Bottles, but it had severe memory loss issues and didn’t remember my directories. I attempted to use Wine, but it never installed correctly. Finally, I tried Proton, but it didn’t handle dependencies properly.
