Detroit Become Human shader compiling at every launch
Hi,
I recently discovered, that every single time I launch Detroit Become Human it compiles shaders. I searched on forums and protondb too, but I couldn't solve my problem.
Has anyone else had this problem? If yes, how did you solve it?

Total War: WARHAMMER III intermittent black screen during AI turns and sometimes for every mouse movement during player turn
I am on a fresh install of Fedora Workstation 44 with the latest NVIDIA drivers (595.71.05) and I am trying to play Total War: WARHAMMER III via Proton Experimental (not native). I have a 9800x3D and 4090.
It actually runs pretty well but every now and then, possibly when my FPS hits low points during the AI turns, the screen goes entirely black for a few frames. As soon as the AI turns finish, it is usually fine.
Also, after a particular action happens during my turn, the screen goes entirely black whenever I move my mouse. I have noticed that if I hit "Print Screen" to take a screenshot, it will "fix" it for a time. Eventually, though, it will happen again.
I've tried a few different things to no avail, like setting `PROTON_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1` or using GE-Proton10-34. I have tried other games and have not had this happen to them, so it must be something specific to TW: WH III.
I tried searching for similar issues but was not able to find any. Any thoughts?

Is there a way to disable "Allow Flipping" in NVIDIA X Server settings?
Hello everyone!
This option is enabled by default after each boot, if I wanna play I must manually come and uncheck it, otherwise my games always freeze on launch, is it possible to leave it unchecked permanently?
Thanks in advance.

Linux gaming on CachyOS: which Proton versions should I use for these games?
Hello, this is my first post on Reddit and english isn't my main language, so please take it easy with me.
I'm switching to CachyOS Handheld on a laptop (because i really like the steamos interface) from Windows 11 because of privacy concerns, and I want to play my steam library there. I know there is a website called proton.db and i tried everything to run my games but i had no luck so it would be cool if you could help me :)
My question is: all of these games don't have native linux support so i need to use proton/wine, but i don't know how to use them; are these games playable with proton and with witch version of it?
- Star Wars Squadrons
- Star Wars Battlefront 2 Celebration Edition (new)
- The Crew 2
- Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order
- Battlefield 2042
- Battlefield 4
- Titanfall 2
- WRC 5
- R.E.P.O
Other question: will I have better or worse performance overall on linux than windows 11? what should i use as game start flags to upgrade performance and QoL?
Thank you!
My specs:
i9 12th HK
iGPU
32gb DDR4 2600

None of my games on Steam will launch after I updated my Linux
Hi friends.
I'm using CachyOS Arch KDE with a GTX 1050 Ti.
I was playing Black Myth: Wukong several times until yesterday without any problems. I played it on Steam, as a non-Steam game installed in my Steam library, using Proton-CachyOS.
I always use Proton-CachyOS for all my games, whether they're Steam or non-Steam. They've always worked perfectly.
This morning I updated with "paru," and the packages I'll show below were updated. Now, when I launch any game, something called "Steam Linux Runtime 4.0" downloads, and none of my games start.
I've removed all the prefixes and restarted the game to recreate them, but none of my games will launch.
I know this happened because of the update, but I don't know what I broke.
This is the update I did today that broke something:

Neverness to Everness Lutris/Heroic Installation fails due to 'not enough diskspace'
Everytime i try to install the Game using Lutris/Heroic i get this issue when using Proton (DW-Proton or GE doesnt matter), even tho i have more than enough diskspace. Only when using Wine11 it works, however the game doesnt start using Wine11 and when i change back to DW-Proton it fails downloading again (theres always a small patch like 1MB or sum)
On steam via non-steam game and DW-Proton it works flawless. Is this a Bug in Heroic/Lutris/Umu or am i doing something wrong?
I already tried editing the disks via winecfg but it doesnt change anything, no matter if i try to install it directly into the mapped C drive of the prefix or in another dir

Linix Distros and Gaming with eGPUs
Just wanting to get an idea as to what distros people would sugest for this usecase and the process that is required for it to function. The gpu is an Nvidia RTX 2080 Super, so it will require Nvidia Drivers. The enclure uses Thunderbolt 3.
Currently hotswapping on Windows 11 has been great, but I do want to shift to linux on all of my computers.
What are people's suggestions and why?

Help using fsr 4.0 in games
Hi everyone, hoping to get some help as I'm very new to linux.
I've managed to get up and running and have been playing games without issue however I've noticed that games such as cyberpunk do not allow me to use FSR 4.0 despite having a compatible card.
I've used Proton plus to install Proton-GE (and have set that to be used within the steam properties) and am running mesa 25.2.8 according to glxinfo command.
On a 9060 xt 16gb, 5800x, 16gb ram. Linux - Mint
Probably missing a check box or something but if anyone could ell me I'd be massively grateful!!
Thank you in advance

Working on a VoiceAttack alternative for linux
Hello everyone :)
I've been getting back into Elite Dangerous recently and was rather ticked off when i found out i couldn't use VoiceAttack in any native capacity, Even more so, the new HCS Hub just doesn't work at all even if you do manage to get VA running inside the *same* wine prefix as ED.
So i've been working on my own little VA alternative, and while I can't integrate with HCS, i've built up a bit of a (currently rudimentary) process for generating character-level roleplay responses and integrating with LLM's and Text to speech services have hopefully found a way forward - Obviously, I'll never get our famous sci-fi actors on these services but that's a burden I'll have to bear.
At any rate, the google results for a Linux VA alternative are pretty sparse, so I thought I'd see if i could tackle something. So here's Voxari, I've MIT licensed it and apart from a few issues that I'm working on it's fairly stable (In my opinion).
Current Features
- Voice activated Macro's
- Profiles for logically categorizing binds between games etc.
- Categories within Profiles for Categorizing binds within the specific profile (Combat vs Camera)
- Ability to disable "Commands"/"Binds".
- Built in support for profile generation from your Elite Dangerous binds file.
- Binds file automatic binding updates - You update your bind in game, restart the game (As we need the binds file to be saved by ED) and Voxari automatically knows what the new binding is and how to use it.
- Mouse & Keyboard support.
- Joystick/Gamepad etc support via a virtual device proxy
- I haven't found a way to send events through the physical device registration, so we have a proxy instead, that creates a virtual device that acts as a passthrough for your joystick events, this allows me to trigger events as needed and pass them into the game (or whatever is active at the time), this unfortunately means you need to rebind all your joystick binds in Elite to trigger a joystick bind.
- On the plus side, you can actually name the virtual device so if you have 2 identical flight sticks for a HOSAS you can name them "Left Stick" and "Right Stick".
- Does require the proxy to be running BEFORE ED is open else ED can pick up both the physical and the virtual proxy when using binds.
- LLM Linked Generation
- Integrations into OpenAI (Bring your own key), Gemini (Bring your own key) and local ollama.
- Character system
- Define characters within your profile and attach them to specific commands, allowing for different voices per command.
- Links into LLM generation for more immersive, roleplay style character responses
- Provide a system prompt which is shared between all characters something like (You are part of a crew member aboard the trading vessel Montmore in the Elite Dangerous universe. Responses are 1-2 sentences, suitable for TTS playback. Stay in character. Use only facts from the provided situation context. Never narrate stage directions or break the fourth wall.)
- Each character gets their own character prompt.
- Each character has a list of "Example outputs" for helping calibrate the LLM with examples.
- You can set which commands can generate responses via LLM.
- Speech to text
- Handled by Vosk with a fuzzy matching system and confidence threshold.
- LLM integration is supported and can be used to help boost the matching within more contextual scenarios.
- Text to speech
- Handled by Piper - local, free, neural voices - Not the greatest, but not the worst.
- Has integration into ElevenLabs (Bring your own key) for better voices
- Supports ElevenLabs V3 with audio tags for more natural responses with laughing, whispers etc.
It's still a bit rough around the edges, but i'm really just kind of hoping that it might benefit others too :)

Regarding Bazzite and other immutable distro's
What made you switch to, or switch away from Bazzite? (or some other atomic distro)
I just jumped from Windows to Bazzite and I was just wondering the pros and cons of staying on it in the long term vs some other open but stable distro. I don't like installing all my stuff again and again.
I mainly use my pc for gaming (obviously) and some video editing but I wonder if in the future something like having to install a bit more niche piece of software or game modding is going to be a pain because of the atomic nature of the OS.
