In case anyone has issues launching Death Stranding 2 on Linux, I had to add "VKD3D_CONFIG=nodxr" as a launch parameter (so "VKD3D_CONFIG=nodxr %command%" in Steam launch options for the game) to fix this error:

Assertion failed

File: ../src-wine/dlls/winevulkan/loader_thunks_c

Line: 3151

Expression: "!status && "vkCreateComputePipelines""

In case anyone else crashes at startup when compiling shaders.

So steam always recreated this wineprefix every launch, and it always changing the proton version like from GE-Proton onto EM-Proton then DW-Proton and etc. Cleary this isn't game prefix right? because game prefix has AppID.

I am having daily system-wide freezes on newest version of Bazzite. The entire computer just freezes and nothing happens when pressing buttons, including CTRL+ALT+F# to switch terminals. Journalctl logs shows:

Many other people and I have reported this to AMD at the website linked in the error, but no fix yet, even tho it's been reported for soon a year.

This prevents me from playing anything competitive, since i risk freezing. Freezes happens randomly when watching videos or playing games.

It seems to happen for any distro, and looks like it is either a amdgpu problem or linux kernel problem.

Does anyone know how to fix it or at least alleviate the problem? Getting around having to reboot pc? I am using and AMD ryzen 5 3600 and rx 9070

Actually thinking of going back to windows, so i don't crash

I don't know what's going on. Genuinely. Please help.
I am using Proton-Experimental.
I've played GTA V Enhanced before, since then nothing(to my knowledge) has changed at all. It worked fine but now it's suddenly doing this.
I have tried troubleshooting by using different Proton versions, reinstalling, nothing worked.
I am using an Intel i5-14400 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti.

Proton GE latest works fine but it launches slow and performance stutters a bit, i think its because its a bit overkill for rocket league, I want to know which proton i can use for playing rocket league, im on 8GB ram btw its my biggest bottleneck :(

when playing rivals sometimes the nvidia dlss option dissapears here and i have no idea why, everytime it switches to the amd one and it impacts my performance really bad, im on bazzite nvidia version so that confuses me even furthere

I've spent a bit of time debugging this issue now so I want to write some of it down for people googling in future

The short version: I get almost double the FPS in Abiotic Factor by switching from the performance profile to power save:

• Performance - 20 fps
• Balanced - 29 fps
• Power save - 35 fps

I also just tested this in deep rock galactic and get a similar improvement (~24 fps -> ~35 fps)

More information:

I have a Dell Inspiron 16 Plus 7620 with an i7-12700H with Iris XE integrated graphics. I noticed that my FPS increased when I unplugged the power cable, which automatically changes the power profile.

It seems that the main function of the power profile is to cap the CPU frequency, which makes more power available for the GPU to use, so it boosts higher. I'm also able to get the same effect by manually capping the CPU frequency with sudo cpupower frequency-set -u 1000MHz, even when the performance profile is enabled

Despite this, I'm still not able to get the GPU to run at 100% usage. I don't think it's thermal throttling because it never goes above ~55°C, so I wonder if it's limited by memory bandwidth since the CPU and GPU have to compete for the same memory. If anyone has any suggestions to help here I'd appreciate it. I've tried manually setting the GPU frequency to maximum with intel_gpu_frequency (provided by the igt-gpu-tools package) but it doesn't seem to make a difference

It also always seems to start at the maximum frequency (1400MHz) then drop to 1000Mhz or lower after a few seconds and stay there, as if it's thermal throttling. Again, I don't think the temperature is the issue as it's always quite cool, and I have the highest performance cooling/throttling settings enabled in the BIOS

Hello Everybody, I was really instersted in playing Zelda and when I found out i Can play it on cemu I got it through wiiu downloader and the Game is runnig fine only issue is the controls i tried to set it up though keybinds in cemu but did't work and i can't seem to configure it And atm i can't get a controller if anybody can give any advise i would be thankfull Os is fedora KDE

I tested Blair Witch (Epic Store) a few years back and the tainted camcorder controls made the game unplayable.

I tried it again with Proton and there are still some control issues, but it actually works!

The real issue is the first video on the camcorder. Once I realized (Spoiler) how it interacts with the game I found that if you pause the first video when you see the toy police car, then all the videos work after that.

The real issue is the rewind control. Once you rewind the video the timeline cursor does't work properly so you think it's not rewinding, but it actually IS. The next time you find another video tape you can use "W" and "D" keys to switch between videos and start them over. If you press rewind it will make a sound but you can't actually see it rewinding on the camcorder screen. Fine, but you can switch to a previous video and then switch back and now it plays again.

I was able to finish the entire game! This is one scary game by the makers of Layers Of Fear!!!

I switched from windows about 5 months ago and after testing a few distros I landed on Fedora with KDE Plasma. I decided to go with Fedora because I wanted faster and newer updates than a debian based distro, I did not want to start right away with an arch based distro and finally I wanted a distro that wasn't over customized like Bazzite since I wanted a "normal" Linux experience. I also wanted a distro that was great for both gaming and office work since I use my computer for work.

It hasn't been the easiest transition for me because although I wouldn't consider myself a Windows power user, I still tinkered with it enough to know pretty much where everything I need is.

With that being said, I still enjoy learning about Linux and Fedora and I try to keep pushing myself to use Linux since I'm tires of Microsoft's bullshit. But there is one thing that keeps being a pain point for me and it's a pretty big deal.

KDE Plasma is the desktop environment I want because to me, it's the most intuitive. However, it doesn't feel "snappy" and it's almost as if the text resolution isn't as clean as on Windows or Mac. It feels like I'm using an OS that isn't polished and it really bugs me. Is there a way I could make it feel better? Now that I have a bit of experience with linux, would making the jump to an Arch Based distro like CashyOs make this desktop environment feel and look better?

I am currently looking for a program that will allow me to get audio and video from my capture card and send it to discord via the screen share button. i got the EVGA XR1PRO (originally wanted the light but they were out of stock) and i am using a wayland windows manager
my full computer specs are in the image down below.

I mostly want to do this instead of piping my audio through my mic so that people have an option to listen instead of being forced. the capture card works good via the webcam but ofc got no audio without it going through my mic.

I tested the new beta drivers yesterday with proton-cachyos, as they add experimental support for descriptor heap in VKD3D. I have a 6-year-old laptop (i7 9750h, RTX 2060 80w). I tried Alan Wake 2, as the game used to run like hot garbage on my laptop, and now the game is perfectly playable. I used to get 15-20fps, and now I get a smooth average of 40 fps. I didn't notice any graphical glitches.
