Previous Post wasn't good enough, so here is an actual benchmark of FSync vs NTSync
https://flightlesssomething.ambrosia.one/benchmark/1747
Used Wine tkg staging 10.13 for both benchmarks, and no, offline mode doesn't improve anything, here's another benchmark that proves it.
The game benchmarked is Zenless Zone Zero

Switching gaming pc to Linux
I'm not really new to Linux in the slightest. Though I've always had a windows pc for gaming. Though with a recent windows update giving me an $8k paperweight I'm cutting off Microsoft permanently. One of the last reasons I've hung onto Microsoft was not looking into whether or not I can reasonable run world of warcraft on Linux and have it be performant. However in light of the costly mistake of continuing to trust Microsoft I'm ready to either completely cancel the wow subscription or try to get it running on Linux.
Any pointers or tips or experiences running world of warcraft on Linux?

Running Beyond All Reason on Dual GPU Laptop CachyOS
Hi, I am launching BAR on Linux CachyOS using appimage file.
I have Xiaomi Pro Book 15.6 laptop with dual GPU and Nvidia MX 150 Dedicated GPU. Desktop env: KDE Plasma on Wayland.
I'm trying to force the game to use dedicated graphics card but no luck yet. I've tried to start launcher with the "prime-run" property, but when in game - I still get the warning that Intel GPU is used.
When I launch games using steam - PRIME Offload works fine, but BAR has a dedicated launcher written in electron, that lauches spring app.
Accortdin to CachyOS wiki and Arch docs PRIME Offload is the way, but it doesn't work for me in this case.
https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/PRIME#Configure_applications_to_render_using_GPU
Not a linux expert, so I'll appreciate any help here.

freez when playing games. However after 1-3 minutes it starts stuttering and after another 30 seconds everything is ok again.. Is that a sign of overheating or something?
i am very confused why this happens. It only started less than a week ago and i did not do anything major. i think. Happened on No mans sky; Wuthering waves; and Path of exile 2.
Also i have noticed that my fans dont spin faster even when i am reaching 80°C+. i am very confused on how to fix that. i had that issue with windows many years ago too, but fixed it with bios setting. however now these setting dont exist anymore (or something(MSi Motherboard)).
The only thing that might have something to do with it, that i used Windows recently (on another drive) and i have hear that windows likes to break things...
Please help. i am lost and have no idea what to do......

No Man's Sky VR
So, I've generally gotten VR to work for most things pretty damn well, but this one is proving to be a pain. Starting No Man's Sky through SteamVR does the expected thing that it does in a lot of other games, laggy tracking and a lotta ghosting, looking like really low FPS. If I use Monado, the game itself seems to work ok, but the controls are all broken. Snap turning doesn't function at all, smooth turning stays at max speed no matter how low I set the sensitivity, and the grip controls don't work at all once inside a ship, so I can't grab the handle to exit. It also seems that the icons for a lot of the controls in the tutorial are replaced with exclamation points in a yellow triangle. Seems something about going through Monado is breaking the way NMS reads my controllers.

GTA 5 Enhanced - No Surround Sound
Anyone know how to get surround sound working for this game?
Seems they removed the in game settings from the enhanced edition in favor of querying the Operating System but it's not detecting my 5.1 setup.

Fallout 1 and 2 on Linux
I've been wanting to play Fo1 and Fo2 recently, so I installed them on my main rig, it is perfectly fine up to the main menu. where my cursor dissapears and won't reappear. I tried both on my Steamdeck and it worked just fine, So it can't just be a exclusive Linux issue. Any ideas?

Install .NET Desktop Runtime with Proton
Hi all,
I have recently downloaded, installed, and (mostly) run Star Wars Rebellion, a Windows game released in 1998, via Proton with Steam. My question is related to a fan-produced patch and update that fixes a lot of bugs, updates the graphics, and improves gameplay. I have attempted to also install that patch via Wine & Proton and received the following error in both when I attempt to run it:
I have also attempted to run it on a virtual machine but that's less stable and functional.
How do I install the .NET Desktop Runtime of the appropriate version and ensure the app will see it?

Game runs with wine but not proton
I'm trying to run a game on Arch Linux, protondb recent reports show it working with GE-Proton10-12
But this game has denuvo, that DRM that prevents you from running a game even if you legally own it, and so despite owning it legally, I can't play it.
I got a copy from my friend who happens to have a cracked version, so he gave it to me on a flash drive, and I gave it a try using just wine and it worked. I figured I would set it up as a non-steam game, but when I try to launch it with proton, it doesn't launch. Here is a log with Proton-GE-10-12 on a fresh prefix: https://pastebin.com/7D32RZDf
I tried uploading the logs to an llm, and it insisted that I need to install dotnet48 with protontricks, but when I do that the installer tells me that its already installed.
My default wine prefix, the one that worked, has a lot of stuff installed from tinkering with other games, and I'm not sure what it has that proton is missing.

Issues with LAN on some games
I've been on Linux (Fedora 42) for about two weeks now and I've finally managed to get some time to play some games. I've installed Steam and Heroic Launcher and both appear to be work with most games, but I've run into an issue that involves LAN multiplayer games like Borderlands 2, 3, PS and Quake II Enhanced through Steam and Heroic. The games themselves run perfectly fine, but when attempting to host or join a LAN specific game no games can be found. I've tried everything I found Googling like checking winetricks cmd to see if I have a network connection (which I do), installing various dlls and Windows components, disabled firewalls on both my Linux PC and the Windows PC, but I'm still at a loss.
What raises further questions are games like Divinity Original Sin II which also has LAN multiplayer and that works perfectly without any tweaking. I can't figure out what Divinity is doing right, but Borderlands is doing wrong.

Flatscreen Linux gaming ( apart from anticheat ) is getting better and better. But i am unsure about what we are doing with VR?
I have been admining linux for 2 years and dailying it for 8 months. However I still boot into windows on my gaming machine due to VR.
Is there any development ongoing that is going to change this aspect? Right now ALVR works but there is no spacewarp support so anything that isnt hitting 90 fps at all times is going to make you sick. WiVRn has spacewarp but alot of games it won't launch.
So yeah. What are you guys experience?

Gaming on the Framework Desktop: Impressive! (Fedora 42, Steam, Proton)
CPU Usage with ntsync vs without ntsync in Zenless Zone Zero
For reference, my specs are:
- AMD Ryzen 5 7535hs
- AMD Radeon RX 6550m
- 32gb RAM DDR5 4800
- Debian 13
EDIT: Sorry for not clarifying, ntsync is on the left, whatever other *sync on the right

Hogwarts Legacy: Windows 11 vs Linux (CachyOS)
It's not really a tech support post, I just don't know how to flair it. It's more of a way to know if my pc is crazy or if it has happened to anyone else.
So, I tried Hogwarts Legacy on Windows 11 and CachyOS and what shocked me is the RAM used while gaming...
Windows 11 ends up using up to 26gb of ram, while CachyOS stays below 10gb...
Anyone else had this experience? Non necessarily with HL, mind you. Just an interesting observation.
Have a good day.
