Other News about gaming on Linux
Low FPS and low GPU usage (~70℅) running Arc Raiders on Arch with Steam (flatpak)
System info:
- 32 GB RAM
- 9070 XT GPU
- 7600X CPU
It doesn't seem like the CPU bottlenecks either when looking at btop while gaming.
What could be the issue? Misconfigured OS? Steam flatpak?
I don't mind trying other distributions if you think that would help.

Linux gaming on a Legion 7i? Deciding between this or a MacBook Pro.
I'm considering getting a Legion 7i (ideally with a 5070) but I'm getting increasingly exasperated with Windows as an OS. I truly am beginning to hate it. I greatly prefer Unix-based OSes, and my daily driver for years has been a MacBook Pro M1. I'm considering getting either an newer MacBook, accepting that gaming will never be perfect but may be decent enough with certain games via Crossover, or getting a Legion 7i and slapping a Linux distro on it. I'm concerned, however, about driver compatibility and gaming performance -- has anyone tried this recently? Any recommended distros or tips?

Any way to put icons for separate Lutris modules (like emulators) on desktop?
Lutris itself does not launch instantly, and then having to also scroll trough a long list of options, when the relevant parts can be counted on one hand, is simply inconvenient.

[Update] Added a 'Request' feature to the 30k game manifest vault + Bug fixes
yo, following up on my last post about the manifest/Lua generator. I just crossed 29,795 games indexed in the vault.
What's New:
- Request Button: If a game is missing or the Lua is acting up, you can now request a manual update directly from the nav bar.
- Better Stability: Fixed some loading issues for heavy hitters like TEKKEN 8 and Ready or Not.
- 3-Step Verification: Added a preparation flow to ensure scripts generate correctly before download.
Important: This tool hosts NO copyrighted data, EXEs, or cracks. It only generates config files (.manifest) and library scripts (.lua) to help your Deck recognize its own library.
Pinned the link to my profile or search IdkAI.Store if you need to fix your library issues.

GRIS and other SDL games on Linux Wayland: 8BitDo controller only works if keyboard is disconnected
Hey everyone! :)
I’m running into a really weird issue with my games on Linux (Wayland, Hyprland). I used to play GRIS with my 8BitDo Ultimate 2C controller, not sure if it was USB or Bluetooth, and it worked perfectly. But now, nothing works properly. If my keyboard is connected, the controller doesn’t work in-game at all. If I disconnect the keyboard and then launch the game, the controller works, but as soon as I reconnect the keyboard, it stops working again. Fullscreen doesn’t open automatically either; it only works if I touch the keyboard, and then the controller breaks again.
I’ve tried a bunch of things like turning Steam Input on and off, using SDL_GAMECONTROLLER_IGNORE_DEVICES, Proton tweaks, and even Gamescope, but nothing seems to fix it :/
From what I’ve read, the 8BitDo USB exposes fake keyboard and mouse interfaces, and Wayland plus SDL end up confusing these with my real keyboard. But it doesn’t make sense to me because it used to work perfectly before.
Has anyone else run into this? Is there a way to make the controller and keyboard work together on Wayland without having to disconnect the keyboard every time?

Serious issues with Sober (Roblox) on Linux – crashes, texture flickering, system instability
I’m a new Linux user, I started just a few days ago. So far it’s been a fun experience and I’ve been testing several games like Hytale, Terraria, ARK, and others. Some work, some don’t. I’ve just been testing things randomly.
Out of all the games I tried, Sober (Roblox) is the only one causing serious problems. When I open it, everything becomes strangely heavy, and inside games some textures keep disappearing and reappearing very fast (to the point you barely notice if you blink).
On top of that, after some time, everything on my PC starts crashing or closing.
This includes my browser, Discord, other games, and even Linux itself. The only way to recover is to shut the PC down and turn it back on. Sometimes, after rebooting, the BIOS screen appears and refuses to exit.
If I leave the PC turned off for a few minutes, everything goes back to normal. This makes me worried that Sober might be causing serious system instability or even stressing my hardware. Every other game runs perfectly fine, and my PC has never had issues like this before, only with Sober.
I tried joining the devs’ Discord to ask about this, but the invites are paused, which made me even more concerned.
Extra: I even tried switching operating systems to see if it would help. I tested on Zorin OS, Bazzite, and Pop!_OS, and the exact same problem happens on all of them(again, only with Sober).
Does anyone know what could be causing this or if there’s a known fix?

Getting some issues on bazzite on couch gaming PC, thinking about distro hopping
Hello,
I recently built couch gaming, steam machine like, PC with Ryzen 5 5500 and Rx 6700xt,
I originally went with bazzite for steamos experience, but I'm getting some issues like:
- games crashing when PC gets unsuspended and my tv "flicks" input (when my soundbar activates, my input changes for a moment, since soundbar is eARC)
- mangohud not visible out of sudden, no matter which preset i pick from QAM, it just doesn't work and i need to reboot.
- green flickering in top part of the screen when mangohud is enabled
Those are not deal breakers, and I'm fairly technical, and i know Linux (use it privately for over 5 years exclusively now, and also my career is Linux related) s i could probably fix those, but I'm looking for best out of the box experience and flexibility which is hard to achieve on bazzite since it's immutable.
Don't get me wrong, it's really solid distro, but i just want too explore my options now.
So my question here is,
What are other handheld like distros?
Steamos is no go for me, because I want to be able to oc my gpu etc. Easily
I know about cachyos handheld, but is it really seamless experience? I use arch (btw) on desktop so im not afraid of cachy.
Is there any other distro like those three?
I want to have exclusive gamemode session like on steamos, and also be able to control my PC for 99% using gamepad.
Thanks for every suggestion

Linux system/version focused on gaming
Hello, I'm not very familiar with Reddit nor Linux so I apologize for any errors in this post. If someone has time to spare, I would please like to know your recommendations (based on your knowledge/experience) for the different versions (or other ways they are called) that Linux has. I have grown tired of Windows to the point that I removed all the windows from my apartment, and I heard that Linux has a somewhat great system as of today for gaming. I mainly play Arc Raiders, Fortnite and Valorant. Are the anticheats and games working fine in that system or does the version affect it somehow? Thanks in advance, have a great month.
