Need help with running steam games
Recently made the switch from Windows 11 to Linux Mint Cinnamon. The only slightly heavy game I play on Steam is Street Fighter 6. It ran just fine when I was on Windows, but now when I launch the game, I hear my desktop start running like crazy, which it never did on Windows, and when the game launches, I can hear the audio, but I just get a black window. So I tried another game (Celeste) and while it was able to run, I swear the frame rate is lower than it was when I was on Windows. I need some help to fix (and optimize) my games. Is there anything I might be missing?
Here are my specs by the way:
CPU: Intel Core i5-14600K
GPU: NVIDIA GA107 [GeForce RTX 3050 8GB]
Storage: NVMe with 1TB
Ram: 32 Gigs

Pragmata demo : no ray tracing on Linux
Capcom just released a demo for Pragmata on PC (https://store.steampowered.com/app/3357650/PRAGMATA/) and once again, they decided to arbitrarily block RT effects when you run the game on Linux through Proton, just like every RE Engine games.
Is there any way to circumvent that, like hide the fact that the game runs with Proton ?

What's the cost of Linux Anti Cheat like FaceIt
Hi,
Just wondering, I know there are not all games that runs on Linux because of Kernel Level Anti Cheat. How much time it can cause for a big company to develop one as they did for Windows, like they can force to install a special proton that doesn't allow side process to draw on screen/They can add a service that guarantee no cheats are running by monitoring screen drawing and game window permission. may be an ATI cheat dev can answer. As a developer my first solution (very simple and idiomatic) would be to install a custom proton/service that check image signature to be an official one (sry for arch users like me but I guess we need to sacrifice something) then when the game is launched it disable screen recording, windows overlap. I know it will not be perfect but for a regular user that launch the game and wants to play without a cheater it can be a good deal ? 🤔 Why companies are so afraid to make a good one anti cheat for Linux, how much it can cost in terms of development time ? They can force you to have some kernel Params/force to use a different tty session when playing without any other apps/....

Unable to add drives to Steam after editing fstab.
Using CachyOS. First week so be gentle.
I was using Steam fine until I got tired of manually mounting my drives and added them into fstab. After doing so Steam will no longer even see them, just Root. After removing the entries from fstab everything goes back to working.
fstab was working in terms of automatically mounting the drives, btw, just broke Steam...
Any ideas? Thanks.

Why does everyone recommend the system package of Steam?
I use linux mint and have the option of using the flatpak or system package of Steam. Everyone seems to recommend the system package of steam but I can't get past the main menu of a game without it crashing. However when I use the flatpak (which is still annoying and has plenty of problems) I am able to actually play the same games that wouldn't work on the system package. Am I missing something or is the flatpak actually better?

Best Distros For Gaming
I have been using linux mint for a while now and have also used pop os. They work okay for gaming but there are hoops you have to jump through to get games to run properly and even then sometimes they will randomly stop working. Anyways I'm making this post to ask if I should switch to another distro that isn't based on ubuntu, maybe something based on arch or fedora. Do you think I will still have problems or will another distro based on something else will work better?

Linux newbie quick Q? Controller's
Hi, I had a quick question. I'm still new, about 3 months now, but with the game awards today, I went to play the Pragmata demo on Steam. I haven't played since switching over, but I'm having problems with both my Xbox USB dongle Bluetooth won't and DualSense Bluetooth does connect but don't register when playing on Steam. Is there a program I need to get, or are none of them connecting?
It helps if I'm on CachyOS.

How do I make a partition in bazzite?
Got a GPD win 4 and immediately overwrote my windows install with bazzite - unfortunately, before doing so I forgot to do some setup that can only be done with windows, so I need to reinstall it. Obviously I don't want to lose all the stuff I've already done on bazzite, though, so I was wondering if it'd be possible for me to set a few gigs aside in bazzite and then install windows there in the typical usb-fashion?
I ask here because whenever I look up how to partition in bazzite I just get a bunch of results telling me how to parition windows for dual booting bazzite, but not the other way around. Any help would be very appreciated.

What are people using for Battle.net games?
As the title says, how are people playing Blizzard games under Linux?
I usually use Heroic but that doesn't support it and I have had a lot of Lutris issues. Are people using Bottles or do I just have really bad luck with Lutris?

Logitech g502x lightspeed being tricky
Setting up 10 button mouse, I've found discussions on using Solaar and Piper, but find out neither supports this mouse. Both these discussions are a bit out of date, so I wanted to ask if there has been updated support for the g502x lightspeed.
Piper won't detect the mouse wirelessly, even. So perhaps the newest version of Solaar. But I read up on it, and it says I need PyPl to download it? This seems bizarre, surely there is a flatpack or something?
Even then, I'm not sure it'll let me use all 10 buttons. I'm told I need piper with a configured ratbag, but then I'd lose wireless option.
If anyone has experience with this, I feel like it's going way over my head. For now I'll mess with PyPl.

Downsides of having 2 GPUs?
A year ago I bought an rtx 4060ti and I'm wondering if there could be any errors if i connected my old gtx 1650 in the second slot.
The reason for this is that i want to play some games on win11 so I could use the old gpu for the VM and keep the normal one for my current system (linux mint cinnamon if that's important), I don't really know how running 2 gpus at the same time works so I'm afraid they might get switched up or something, are my concerns reasonable?

No HDR and No SPATIAL audio like ATMOS?
Mac user, Windows gamer, now Linux user/gamer.
It's a lot to give up when it comes to HDR/Atmos. To be fair a lot of games on Windows have awful HDR and for most I can game without but for certain games, it makes all the difference.

Linux ironically saved a piece of Microsoft hardware from the scrap heap
And honestly it's a gorgeous piece of hardware someone was actually going to throw this into a tech recycle pile because it didn't support Windows 11. Offered to take it and they said yes.
I have Steam installed on it and I'm looking for some low end game suggestions. I've found even older games struggle when trying to run them at native res (3000x2000) since I'm working with a combination of a 7th gen i5's Intel HD graphics and a basically 4k screen.
