LinuxGSM: Game server manager released in version v26.5.0

LinuxGSM has been released in version v26.5.0.

LinuxGSM is a command-line tool for easily installing, running and monitoring dedicated game servers on Linux.

After version v26.4.0, the update brings an incremental and parallel FastDL, the extraparams setting for custom start options and backups that include game data outside the install folder. New servers: Half-Life WON2, Counter-Strike WON2, OpenRA: Red Alert, Luanti, Battlefront Eternal and FiveM. Also included are MatchZy for Counter-Strike 2, HTML formatting for Matrix alerts and many fixes.

Highlights

  • FastDL: now incremental and parallel, with custom folders and exclusions.
  • extraparams: add your own start parameters without overriding startparameters.
  • Backups: now include game data kept outside the install folder, such as Project Zomboid’s ~/Zomboid.
  • PunkBuster: the last PunkBuster release ships for every server that supports it, and it starts on CoD2 and WaW with glibc 2.41 and newer.
  • Monitor: query failures now show the local port state and tell a hung server apart from a port conflict.
  • Output: plain line-based output when stdout is not a terminal.
  • Alerts: HTML formatting for Matrix messages, and Matrix and ntfy now show in details.
  • Counter-Strike 2: MatchZy added to mods-install.

Changes to existing behaviour

  • Game logs: Rust, Core Keeper and Hurtworld now rotate the game log on start, and old rotated logs are removed after logdays.
  • FastDL: the directory is kept between runs. The old overwrite prompt is now “Rebuild Fastdl directory from scratch?”, and the new fastdlexclude setting defaults to maps/workshop/ on Source servers.
  • Backups: can be larger on servers that keep data outside the install folder.
  • Unreal Tournament 99: config and logs stay in serverfiles using -nohomedir. Existing inis move there on the next start.
  • Craftopia: saves written to a stray folder outside serverfiles move into it on the next start.
  • Action Half-Life: now runs on ReHLDS, applied on start, to stop the startup segfault.
  • QuakeWorld: installs from qwserver-build releases and gains update and check-update. Existing installs receive an update on the next update, keeping local config files.
  • Updates: a second update no longer runs while one is in progress.

New Servers

  • Half-Life WON2 (hlwonserver)
  • Counter-Strike WON2 (cswonserver)
  • OpenRA: Red Alert (orarserver)
  • Luanti (luantiserver)
  • Battlefront Eternal (bfeserver)
  • FiveM (fivemserver), which needs your own Cfx.re license key in server.cfg

Game server fixes

  • Zombie Master: Reborn: installs the previous2021 Source SDK 2013 build.
  • Counter-Strike 1.6: AMX Mod X packages resolve from the latest 1.10 build.
  • Counter-Strike 2: adds the libicu dependency for CounterStrikeSharp.
  • Barotrauma: drops the ICU dependency.
  • Hosted archives: rebuilt with normalised ownership, permissions and names.

Other fixes

  • Downloads: no more download loop on slow connections.
  • Extraction: archive extraction and copy failures are now reported instead of ignored.
  • update-lgsm: builds the updated game script in tmpdir and restores the backup on failure.
  • gamedig: npm no longer hangs when the registry does not answer.
  • Dependencies: procps is always installed, libxml2-utils is added on Debian 13, and the distro csv is fetched when run as root before install.
