Wine, the compatibility layer for running Windows applications on Linux, has been released in the development version 11.20.
This release brings memory management improvements in ntdll (including reserving the low 8 GB range on 64-bit), support for D3D11_CREATE_DEVICE_VIDEO_SUPPORT in dxgi, reworked loop playback in dmime, and DTD validation in msxml3. Overall, the release includes around 340 changes compared to version 11.19.
Here is a selection of changes from the commit log:
- ntdll: Reserve the entire low 8G on 64-bit, support for blocking some memory ranges from allocation, larger top-down area, and ARM64EC relay support.
- dxgi/wined3d:
D3D11_CREATE_DEVICE_VIDEO_SUPPORTimplemented, video decoding support can be disabled in wined3d. Plus several command stream performance optimizations. - win32u/opengl32: Support for
EGL_EXT_device_typeandWGL_RENDERER_UNIFIED_MEMORY_ARCHITECTURE_WINE, pixel formats are only checked for windows of the current process. - dmime: Reworked loop points and
rtLengthhandling for segments. - dsound: Mixing and volume are now handled in a common
put_samples()helper. - winmm/dinput: Joysticks are reacquired after being reconnected, duplicate devices are avoided.
- winebus: The
iInterfacestring may be used as the product string for USB HID devices. - mountmgr: New support for
IOCTL_STORAGE_GET_MEDIA_TYPES_EXandFSCTL_DISMOUNT_VOLUME; ntdll no longer opens Unix devices directly. - cmd: More builtin commands (including
FOR,SET /A,HELP,DEL) converted to the new word iterator. - msxml3/msxml6: Extensive DTD validation (root element, attributes, empty and mixed content elements).
