ShelvesHub: background service for Deck Shelves released in version 0.4.0

ShelvesHub, a background service that integrates Deck Shelves into Steam, has been released in version v0.4.0.

After version 0.3.0, this release focuses on standalone notifications, a reliable self-update and per-user Windows installs without admin rights - updates and installers are now also verified via signature and checksum.

  • Notifications now show up when running without a plugin loader. ShelvesHub’s own toasts — update available, suggestions, settings recovery — appear on screen in standalone mode instead of silently doing nothing.
  • The host finishes its own update on restart. It now downloads and stages a newer ShelvesHub (binary and runtime together) before prompting, so restarting actually applies it — and it checks even alongside a plugin loader.
  • Windows installs per-user now — no administrator rights. ShelvesHub installs under your own profile and runs as you at logon, so it can update itself and reach Steam without admin. Its self-update also checks the download’s CPU architecture on Windows now, like it already did on Linux.
  • Updates and installs are verified. The self-update checks a signature and checksum before applying, and the installers verify the downloaded package — so a corrupted or tampered download is refused instead of installed.
