Arctis Sound Manager: version 1.6.4 released

The Arctis Sound Manager has been released in version 1.6.4.

The tool manages the audio settings of SteelSeries Arctis headsets on Linux, such as mic EQ, filter chains and the GameDAC display. Following version 1.6.3, this release brings a batch of fixes.

Main changes: apps return to their ASM channel after the dongle or headset reconnects, the Nix build works again, and the first-run setup no longer reruns at every login. On the Nova Pro Wireless, ASM no longer overwrites the base station’s Custom EQ bands on start. The Custom EQ of the Nova Elite and Nova Pro Omni now uses GG’s band layout and goes up to ±12 dB. Three new Sonar presets are included: Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve, Control Resonant and Silent Hill: Townfall.

Fixed

  • Nix build: The package builds again on recent nixpkgs (#344). Thanks to jgopel.
  • Channel restore: Apps go back to their ASM channel when the dongle or headset comes back (#343).
  • Nova Pro Omni display: The base station’s own status screen no longer flashes over ASM’s custom display (#330).
  • Nova Pro Wireless EQ: Starting ASM no longer overwrites the base station’s Custom EQ bands 4 to 10.
  • First-run setup: The setup no longer reruns at every login and restarts PipeWire (#340).
  • USB card outputs: Outputs of a multi-output USB card are now listed separately in the device pickers (#339). If you had picked one, you may need to choose it again in Settings.
  • Game presets: A preset that failed to apply is no longer saved as the game’s choice (#338).

Changed

  • Arctis Nova 5: ASM reads the headset’s current settings before sending anything, so unchanged values (such as those set in GG) are kept (#331).
  • Nova Elite and Nova Pro Omni EQ: The Custom EQ uses GG’s band layout, with low and high shelves at the ends (#327).
  • EQ range: These two headsets’ Custom EQ sliders now go to ±12 dB. Other headsets stay at ±10 dB.
  • Preset notification: ASM now notifies you when a preset is remembered for a game (#338). The tray menu’s “Automatic” option undoes it.
  • asm-cli tools probe: EQ bands are now read correctly, which fixes later fields being misread on several headsets (#331).

Added

  • Three new Sonar presets from SteelSeries GG 122: Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve, Control Resonant, and Silent Hill: Townfall.
