Proton Wineland has been released in version 11.0-20260922.
Proton Wineland is a fork of Proton-CachyOS, a compatibility layer for running Windows games on Linux with extra patches and optimizations.
Following version 11.0-20260917, this release brings several bug fixes: a startup crash in Borderlands 4 has been resolved, along with the black-screen issue in Forza Horizon 6 and the missing launcher window for Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines. Additionally, Steam overlay compatibility with other Vulkan overlays was improved, and the HUD now includes FPS and latency graphs.
Wineland fixes:
- Fixed Borderlands 4 startup crash using updated system call handling from upstream Wine.
- Fixed Forza Horizon 6’s black-screen issue, where a background window could cover the game while it continued running.
- Fixed the missing Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines launcher window.
- Fixed incorrect colours and the green strip in Grandia videos. Also corrected end-of-video handling that could prevent playback from restarting.
- Improved Steam overlay compatibility with other Vulkan overlays and fixed it being unnecessarily disabled in WoW64-only builds.
- Extended the HUD with FPS and presentation-latency graphs for DXVK and vkd3d-proton. Presentation telemetry is now also available in Direct3D 8/9 games where supported. Added
present.modeto show the selected Vulkan presentation mode.- Improved OptiScaler’s library cleanup while preserving manually replaced DLLs.
- Reduced CPU overhead from repeated FSR provider queries, addressing a performance issue reported in Dying Light: The Beast.
Bleeding-edge and upstream cherry picks:
- Imported Wine’s newer system call handling and associated thread and signal-handling improvements.
Other components:
- Updated DXVK, vkd3d-proton and DXVK Low Latency, including DXVK 3.1.1 and presentation-timing integration in the low-latency fork.
- Updated DXVK-NVAPI, D7VK, DXVK-Sarek and NVIDIA integration components.
- Updated FFmpeg to 9.0.2, alongside media, audio, VR and runtime libraries.
