Which Linux Distro. Should I Use?
Hi there! I was thinking about switching to Linux on my main Desktop computer, as I really enjoy it on my laptop. I’ve become increasingly frustrated with Microsoft’s use of AI and their bloated bullshit. But, I had a few questions before I potentially make a final decision.
If I do switch decide to switch, what Linux Distribution would you recommend to a gamer? I play a lot of games, everything from Minecraft, ROBLOX, Final Fantasy XIV Online, VRChat (with VirtualDesktop + Oculus Quest 3S). I play other games as well, such as Elden Ring, Fortnite and Baldurs Gate 3.
In the event I do switch to Linux, would I be losing out on anything? Like, in terms of functionality or performance. I currently use Windows 11 LTSC, which my friend helped me switch to after experiencing increasing frustrations with Windows 10.
Is the software I have compatible with Linux or will I encounter any issues with my hardware/software on Linux? My computer specs are:
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 11 LTSC CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D 8-Core Processor GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Storage: WD_BLACK 1TB SN770 NVMe Motherboard: Gigabyte B650 EAGLE AX
If you guys need any more information or need me to provide anything else to help me make a decision, I can gladly provide it.

Ubuntu 25.10 goes all-in with Wayland, dropping support for GNOME on Xorg (guess what distro I would not be using)
UPDATE- Has anyone had any success using two GPUs?
A few days ago I posted this thread, and I figured it out. (This is only for Nvidia GPUs, as I believe the Mesa drivers allow this to work much easier)
Since then, I've tried making multiple virtual displays, to no avail. Until I ordered a dummy HDMI plug, and I edited my Xorg conf to ONLY include my secondary GPU (the one not connected to the real display)
Section "Device" Identifier "Device0" Driver "nvidia" VendorName "NVIDIA Corporation" BoardName "NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090" BusID "PCI:14:0:0" EndSectionThen, I disabled the dummy display under the XFCE4 settings. And boom; it works. Desktop usage is a little bit less smooth; but in gaming there is only a very slight input latency which is totally workable.
Then Nvidia picked it up as a PRIME display, which I thought is normally only for usage with integrated GPUs, turns out it even works on two dedicated GPUs!
I hope this reaches the right people that are trying to do the same thing :)

Steam defaults games to 60Hz
Hello, I have just installed Fedora 42KDE with Wayland and the latest nvidia drivers 575.57 i think. The thing is, after i installed the drivers, my external monitor couldn't do 1080p 144hz anymore and I had to go to 120Hz, not much of an issue. The thing is that in games that dont have a refresh rate setting, the default refresh rate in games for steam seems to be 60Hz and I know this by using mangohud and enabling vsync in game and seeing the fps drop to 58-60. The thing is, the laptop refresh rate seems fine, but if i enable vsync on the laptop screen it still goes to 58-60 fps, weird (on games without refresh rate setting). I tried using gamescope in steam launch arguments but no game starts after using gamescope %command% or gamescope -r 120 -- %command% or smth like that. I am using proton ge 10.4 but i tried launch args with proton 9 and beta 10. Any idea what I can do or try? Thank you!

Anyway to force FSR4 in all FSR2/3 supported games yet?
I’m building a new PC with a 9070 XT and planning to run Bazzite in a console-like setup on a 4K OLED TV. Since FSR 4 has been available for a couple of months I’m jsut wondering if can it be forced in games that already support FSR 2/3.
If it's possible at least, a solution that applies FSR 4 globally to most supported games without having to mess with per-title configs and launch options.
Thanks
