Minecraft Bedrock Edition
Hey r/linux_gaming
I primarily play on Minecraft Bedrock Edition due to all of my friends also playing it. Since I'm switching to Linux Mint, I have a few questions.
I know it's possible to play BE on Linux, but all the installation processes I've seen are from a couple years back, so I don't know if it's changed at all.
How will connectivity with friends be?
I have backed up my worlds on Google Drive, will I be able to import them on Linux BE without issue?
I heard that BE on Linux is using the Android version, will this cut off my access to Vibrant Visuals?
Thanks.

Pirated game with steamfix doesn't run after system update
A few days ago I installed a pirated copy of Crusader Kings III on my arch linux desktop and it worked just fine and I could join my friends' games without any problems. I ran the game via the heroic games launcher using proton-experimental and steam runtime. Yesterday I ran a routine system maintenance update and now no matter what I try I get this error message:
I'm a bit clueless as to what this means and all the solutions I found didn't work so far. What could have caused this? I changed nothing since I last played the game and other games launch without issues.
Any advice would be appreciated.
P.S: I'm using hyprland if that helps

Just a graphical issue not a big deal::
https://reddit.com/link/1keqmcx/video/wrnbu9p04tye1/player
I'm not really sure if this is the correct way to explain this problem ,and btw i just saw that GPU is showing only Nvidia while i do in fact have intel as HypridGPU, but i did disable it from BIOS.
Is there any fix ?
I want to move once and for all from windows and become a refugee to Linux asking for protection LMAO
I'm using Arch BTW!
i also forgot to mention that i'm using proton / umu-launcher . no steam / no lutris / no bottles / just essentials..

Steam Args Won't Work
I'm using Steam flatpack version with OpenSuse Tumbleweed, even thought it works fine most of the time, when i try custom arguments its simply wont launch the game afterall. I press the Play button, it changes to launching but after a sec turn back to Play.
I've installed Mangohud and Feral Gamemode, but i cant use it cus the arguments mangohud %command% or gamemode %command% doesn't work at all and shows no error! Today i simply don't use both of them cus i don't wanna spend time trying to fix it.
But recently I've started to play vallheim and i wanna put some mods, for this i need BepInEx and guess what? I need use the arg ./start_game_bepinex.sh %command% to run the modded version!
Someone have any tips or suggestions why steam says f*ck this sh*t i don't wanna run that!when I use any command that have %command% in it?
btw, i've tested other arg like -console and it worked fine

Controllers?
I’ve recently starting gaming using Xbox cloud on my PC, I’m very new to running Linux but I’ve read in some places that not all wireless controllers are compatible.
Is anyone able to help me out? And recommend some cheap (under £50) controllers I could get on Amazon?
Currently using keyboard and mouse but struggling as it’s not a format I’m used to. Appreciate any help with this

Mount and Blade Banner Lord
I am currently on Linux Mint 22.1 and have installed Banner Lord once again. It's been well over a year. Beat the game twice over. I'm looking to enable the console but I'm unsure how to do that in Linux.
I have located the installation directory and located the game but I'm unable to find the engine_config.txt to edit so I can enable the console.
Any ideas?

Remote play steam black screen but input works?
Remote play on steam comes up with the menu that says (A) Let's go! but I cannot push it and there is a black screen behind the message. The side popup also leaves an odd glitchy trail and just freezes.
Anyone else figure this out?
Thank you all

Minecraft doesnt work on prism launcher, but fine on other launchers.
It says on newer versions about a GLFW error, I have my drivers, I have everything needed, but for SOME reason it doesn't work on prism, on the default it works but as I said, not on prism.
Prism is downloaded by flatpak, and the default launcher on minecraft's website.
SPECS:

Dota 2 started to randomly stutter for 1-2 secs with new pc
Hello,
I got myself a new Ryzen 9 7900 cpu and 64gig ram, since then Dota 2 started to randomly stutter for 1-2 secs, the game just pauses while my music is still being played in the background.
I have a Radeon 570 gpu btw, unchanged. Switched from Ubuntu 22.04 to 24.04.
This happens 2-3 times per game, recently it happened twice in a game with just 10 secs in between. Any idea what this could be? I really don't see any pattern.

Linux and High Performance Rigs
I built my first PC last september, specs:
Ryzen 7 7800x3d RTX 4080 super 32 GB RAM 2TB SSD 1TB SSD
I am not a total newbie to linux in general, but i am a newbie to using it as a daily driver for normal computer stuff and gaming. Ive worked for many years in cybersecurity so ive used kali and just normal linux terminal networking stuff and I find the whole concept of linux really fascinating.
I have recently installed linux to my 1tb SSD to dual boot with windows, and have done the traditional “distro hopping” through Linux Mint -> Nobara -> Arch -> CachyOS and am currently back on mint. I have also done the downloading and installing of the correct nvidia and mesa drivers and kernel on mint.
The thing is, It just is such a performance hit on and DX12 games that i find it hard to convince myself to use linux on this machine at all. Ideologically, i love linux and i strongly dislike windows, but for gaming, ill have to dual boot forever for me to play my multiplayer games with friends, and with the performance hit to my nvidia card, it makes me wonder if the whole thing is worth it all to dual boot or if i should just stick with windows.
I do some non-gaming stuff on this pc (browsing, checking personal accounts, filing taxes, etc) out of convenience, but I have a macbook pro that i use for all my normal computing needs.
I really like linux because its cool and people who run it are cool, and i was inspired by pewdiepie to try it out.
My question is this; for anyone else using high end parts in their rigs, do you feel the same way i do about using linux? What do you feel keeps you on one OS over the other? Should i just get used to the hit and keep using linux hoping it gets better over time?

Controlling MSI laptop fans on Linux Mint w/ secure boot on?
Helllo, can I install this to control my fans on Mint with secure boot on? I tried to follow the installation process but while the sudo make dkms-install seems to run in terminal; even sign MOK keys, it doesn't create the msi-ec folder in/sys/devices/platform/msi-ec/
I am on Stealth17 A13VH and performances aren't a problem but heating is currently. The CPU fans don't seem to work or only slowly. CPU reaches 90~95c during gaming with an external cooling pad on max power.
I switched to Linux after my Windows 11 install got pwned by a virus, I formatted everything but I would rather not disable secure boot just to be safer. Is my only option switching to latest Ubuntu?

Seeking Help with Controller Issues While Streaming Games from Ubuntu to any other client
Greetings everyone,
I previously posted on this subreddit but didn't find a solution that resolved my issue. Over the past month, I have conducted extensive research and gained a better understanding of the behaviors involved.
Here is the current setup:
- Games causing problems: Red Dead Redemption 2 (RDR2) and Lego Star Wars Skywalker Saga
- "Server" running Ubuntu 24.04 that I wish to run these games when I am away for work
- Another computer running Windows 11
- A laptop running Linux Mint
Issue: While streaming a game to the laptop via the Windows 11 machine, the Xbox controller plugged into the laptop is recognized by the W11 machine and functions flawlessly. However, when switching to the Ubuntu machine as the game host, no inputs from the Xbox controller are detected by the game.
Here's the peculiarity: When a game is being streamed, the controller connected to the client (laptop) shows in the settings on the host machine (Ubuntu). I have attempted troubleshooting steps such as disabling Steam Input, enabling Xbox and generic controller support, using community bindings. Unfortunately, none of these solutions provide playable results with the games' built-in Controller support.
I tried switching to a generic controller but it did not resolve the issue. The only way I can get any sort of input from the remote setup is by holding the back button and using the controller as the mouse and keyboard, but this method is unplayable and diminishes the gaming experience.
I have read that some games cannot use Xinput because they require direct input. Is it possible that a Windows machine works seamlessly without any preconfiguration while a Linux machine experiences issues due to Proton? Could Proton be causing an obstacle in this scenario?
Please let me know if I can clarify anything.. I REALLY would like these games to be playable

Is there any way of using Linux with Secure Boot Enabled?
I use my windows as primary gaming OS, though I have to enable secure boot everytime I wanna boot. Its hectic and I often forget to do that, and then games don't function. Any Solution?
