Fan control with average time sensor
I'm hoping the community can help me out with some software suggestions.
I use Windows 11 but would like to try out Linux again. I use fancontrol on Windows which is excellent.
One of the features it has is the ability to set fan levels / curves based on an average temperature. So I can tell my CPU cooler to only spin up if the average temperature over the past 5, 10, or whatever seconds exceeds a certain temperature. I find this is the best way to avoid my fans constantly ramping up and down due to temporary high temperatures.
Does any fan control software on Linux support this? I previously used CoolerControl, which worked well and supported my hardware, and it worked great when I had a watercooled rig where the time-smoothing of temps is a natural function of water. But since switching to an air cooler I have not been able to find a way of setting it up, and it makes using the computer a really unpleasant experience where it keeps ramping fans up and down.
Thanks a lot in advance for any tips or suggestions on this.

Discussion about Playing Roblox on Linux (tried posting on two different related subreddits but the rules wouldn't allow and could risk the post being taken down)
I’m planning to use Linux soon and was really looking forward to playing Roblox on it. But I found out Roblox doesn’t officially support Linux, and to play it, you have to use things like Wine or tools like Grapejuice.
That’s fine on a technical level, but here's the problem: those tools technically count as “modifying the client,” which may go against Roblox’s rules. Even if you’re not cheating or touching the game’s code, just trying to run it on Linux might lead to issues with the system detecting it as unauthorized — which is really frustrating.
I just want to play the game fairly, without doing anything wrong, and without being blocked or restricted just because of the operating system I’m using.
So I wrote up a more formal suggestion below in case anyone at Roblox sees this, or if other players want to support the idea too.
Formal Suggestion Text:
Subject: Suggestion for Linux support – official client or anti-cheat exception
Hello, Roblox team.
I know Linux isn't officially supported on Roblox, but many dedicated users (myself included soon) still want to enjoy the platform in a fair and secure way using tools like Wine or Grapejuice, simply because there’s no official option.
However, doing this involves technically modifying how the Roblox client is launched, which may violate your terms of service, even if no part of the actual game is altered or exploited. That puts honest users at a disadvantage just for using a different operating system.
So here are two suggestions:
- Create an official Linux-compatible version of the Roblox client, even

Need help with sober
Hello, so basically I recently installed ubuntu and I wanted to try out sober. Thing is, after opening it, it just sits on the bar and when it's highlighted, it's an invisible box that just bugs out the screen. There is normally supposed to be an UI but nope. I think it is a graphics issue but I'm unsure. I have a Nvidia Gefore 3050Ti.

First time using Linux and steam
Holy crap its so First time using Linux and Steam together, and honestly, I’m pretty impressed. I was expecting a lot of headaches, but setting things up was smoother than I thought. Games launched without much trouble, and Proton does a great job handling Windows titles. A few hiccups here and there, but nothing major. It feels lightweight, fast, and way more stable than I expected. Still learning the ropes, but for a first-timer, this experience has been surprisingly solid. Im amazed.

I have RTX 2080ti, Ryzen 5600x, and in T16+ maps the game can drop to 15fps.
I am using Vulkan renderer on Proton 9.0 stable, Arch Linuxi with Nvidia-open driver
Is there anything I can do to fix this crazy low fps drops?

Wanted to port to native Linux, and there are soooo many distributions! What to choose?
The project is Win64 DX12 and Steam-only, while Proton works okay, the idea was to actually port to native Linux with Vk... but no idea what Linux to port to (Edit: got recommended Steam Linux Runtime or sticking with Proton+Vulkan)
And does Linux have its own version of XAudio2? Specifically spatial reverb effects and something like XAPO is of interest... (Edit: got recommended FAudio)
And what about UDP? Are there any big endian Linux devices to consider and/or devices that don't handle unaligned memcpy well? Any devices with MTU below 1280?
Could just add Vulkan and keep relying on Proton, but...
So confused

Skyrim SE completely freezes every so often
I'm on archlinux, trying to play Skyrim, which i have on steam. The game runs perfectly, until it just freezes (which might happen after 30 minutes of playing or 30 seconds, it really is random) and I have to stop it and restart in steam. I also use Mod Organizer 2, which I installed with mo2-linux-installer or something, but I haven't installed any mods yet (except for SSE Engine Fixes and Address Library) and anyways, I've always had this problem, way long before installing MO2. I had the very same problem with Ultrakill and simply using gamescope fixed everything, but it didn't with Skyrim, in fact, I feel like with gamescope Skyrim freezes even faster than without it. Installing SSE Engine Fixes didn't appear to help, but perhaps I messed up the installation, I will double check if the mod is active or something later. At the moment, I am using Proton 9.0, because this is the recommended version for MO2, but I have tried practically every version of Proton before and none could fix the problem. I really tried everything, please, I need any help. I've already done post on this issue, but haven't got any proper help.
My specifications:
GPU: nvidia GTX 1050 4gb (and I use proprietary drivers)
CPU: Intel Core i3 8300H
RAM: 16 gb
Archlinux
