SelfSteam: web tool for managing Steam shortcuts released in version 0.1.37

SelfSteam has been released in version v0.1.37.

SelfSteam is a headless web application for adding and editing non-Steam shortcuts from another device while the target machine stays in Game Mode. The tool ships as a Flatpak for the Steam Deck and Steam Machines.

After version 0.1.36, the update mainly improves emulator support: Dolphin builds shaders before the game starts, Dolphin and PCSX2 use their widescreen patches, and RetroArch keeps saves separate per console.

  • Dolphin: shaders are built before the game starts, so effects no longer stutter the first time they appear
  • Dolphin and PCSX2: their own widescreen codes and patches are turned on, so supported games fill a 16:9 screen. Turning one off in the emulator keeps it off
  • RetroArch: saves are kept in one folder per console, so two games with the same file name on different consoles no longer overwrite each other’s save
  • Games no longer build their shaders again for every new shortcut: each emulator keeps one shader cache
