Proton Wineland: version 11.0-20261103 released

Proton Wineland has been released in version 11.0-20261103.

Proton Wineland is a fork of Proton-CachyOS, a compatibility layer for running Windows games on Linux with additional patches and optimizations.

The update fixes a crash in Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition, brings fixes for Genshin Impact, Dead Cells and Steam matchmaking, plus updated DXVK and vkd3d-proton. It also adds experimental AMD user queues, Control Resonant memory optimisations and IOCP acceleration (Salkim kernel only).

Wineland changes:

  • Fixed a crash in Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition introduced in the previous release.
  • Backported Genshin Impact / Zenless Zone Zero CN crash fix from upstream Wine.
  • Improved audio handling when changing the default output device.

Wine upstream ports:

  • Fixed audio timestamp overflow after long system uptime.
  • Improved compatibility with large HTTP response headers and certificates issued for IP addresses.

Proton bleeding-edge ports:

  • Added basic Voice Capture DSP support.
  • Fixed a Dead Cells crash.
  • Fixed Steam matchmaking handling of invalid request handles.
  • Fixed OpenXR device identification and support.

Other components:

  • Updated DXVK to the latest snapshot, including a fix for the recent V Rising shader regression.
  • Updated vkd3d-proton to the latest snapshot. Upstream updates include fixes for environment flickering in Monster Hunter Rise on NVIDIA, shader compilation freezes in ARC Raiders on older AMD GPUs such as Vega and Polaris, and ray tracing glitches in Bright Memory: Infinite and the Boundary benchmark on AMD.
  • Updated bundled RADV to a newer Mesa development snapshot. Salkim changes add experimental user queues support.
  • Updated DXVK-NVAPI to 0.9.3.
  • Updated DXVK Sarek to 1.14.1.
  • Updated GStreamer to 1.28.8 and libsoup to 3.8.1.
  • Updated Xalia to 0.5.0.1.
  • Updated wayland-protocols to 1.50.

Very experimental notes: These features use experimental kernel extensions and driver changes outside the standard upstream setup. GPU hangs and system crashes are possible. Use it at your own risk.

AMD user queues: disabled by default. To try them with bundled RADV, use PROTON_RADV=1 AMD_USERQ=1 %command%. You need the compatible Salkim kernel and AMD firmware that supports user queues on your GPU. Testing has primarily been on RDNA 4, RDNA 3 compatibility remains unverified.

Control Resonant memory optimisations: RADV groups GPU memory change requests together and the modified AMDGPU kernel driver processes them in batches. This introduces a kernel<->RADV interface that is not upstream compatible.

IOCP acceleration: an extended ntsync driver moves the I/O Completion Ports notification queue into the Linux kernel, reducing trips through wineserver. Wineland detects and uses it automatically. To check, enable PROTON_LOG=1 and look for ntsync: IOCP acceleration enabled. in the Proton log.
