CouchPlay: version 0.5.0 released

CouchPlay, a split-screen multiplayer tool for Linux, has been released in version v0.5.0.

The tool launches multiple isolated Gamescope instances, each with its own controller, audio, and user account, making split-screen play possible even for games without native split-screen support.

The main new feature: CouchPlay profiles can now be added to Steam and started directly via profile launch automation. There are also fixes for Bazzite, per-player directory handling, and the Flatpak build.

  • Add CouchPlay profiles to Steam, with selectable Steam source account for shortcuts
  • Profile launch automation
  • Support for generic application descendants
  • Unified DataDirectory model for preset data access
  • Launch Big Picture via -bigpicture instead of -tenfoot -steamdeck
  • Fix Bazzite sessions and simplify player settings
  • Match session windows by Gamescope process ID
  • Fix shared-directory selection and host home mapping
  • Fix per-player directory preparation and profile inheritance
  • Fix temp-dir permissions for Flatpak install, drop redundant PipeWire config
  • Restore pinned polkit build settings in the Flatpak manifest
