Arctis Sound Manager: version 1.7.3 released

The Arctis Sound Manager has been released in version 1.7.3.

The tool manages the audio settings of SteelSeries Arctis headsets on Linux. A day after version 1.7.2, another release with bug fixes follows.

These include the base station screen and battery display on the Arctis Pro Wireless, apps returning to their channel after a replug, and a new Line Out Mic Volume slider for the Nova Pro Wireless, Nova Pro Omni and Nova Elite. The Nova 5 also no longer gets periodic status polling.

Fixed

  • Arctis Pro Wireless base station screen (#305, #363): The screen now uses the same byte layout as GG, so the garbled lines are gone. The DAC page’s base screen settings are back.
  • Arctis Pro Wireless battery display (#363): The base reports whether a battery is in its slot, not how full it is. The base now shows “In the Base” or “No Battery” instead of a made-up spare battery level. The headset battery reading was already correct.
  • Apps after a replug (#353): Apps that were on a channel like Game no longer get moved to Media when the headset reconnects. They return to their previous channel, and that move isn’t saved as a user choice.
  • Nova Pro Wireless, Nova Pro Omni, Nova Elite line-out mic (#337): The stream’s mic level was being set to 0 with every change. ASM now sends the correct level. A new “Line Out Mic Volume” slider is on the DAC page. A base already at 0 stays there until you adjust it.
  • Nova 5 status polling (#364): ASM no longer polls periodically. The dongle pushes status changes itself, so ASM only checks at connect, after resume, and after power-on. Profiles can set status.poll_interval_s: 0 to use this behavior.
  • asm-cli tools probe (#363): The status poll now pauses during a probe, so only the probe’s own replies get recorded.

Changed

  • A presentation video was added to the README and the website.
