Steam Audio Isolator: v0.4.0 and v0.4.1 released

Steam Audio Isolator has been released in versions v0.4.0 and v0.4.1.

The Flatpak tool uses PipeWire to route the audio of selected sources such as games to Steam destinations (e.g. for streaming or voice chat), without the rest of the system sound leaking through.

New in v0.4.0: a multi-game routing preference, the GUI moves from PyQt5 to PyQt6, plus several fixes for Wine/Proton stream detection. v0.4.1 follows shortly after and fixes the install path of the bundled PipeWire 1.6.10 library in the Flatpak.

Changes in v0.4.0:

Added

  • Multi-game routing preference: route all selected games or only one focused game, optionally by preferred title, with a fallback to the newest active game process.

Fixed

  • Game detection now reads missing process metadata from the PipeWire client object, restoring classification for Wine/Proton streams.
  • Wine/Proton streams that expose only an application name are now classified as games.
  • Channel labels for output ports now use the real channel names instead of port-ID parity, which had mislabeled both Wine channels as “Right”.
  • Audio sources and Steam destinations no longer vanish when the bundled PipeWire client talks to a newer host daemon, because malformed pw-dump output is now repaired.
  • The application log now rotates instead of growing without bound.
  • The login autostart portal call now sends correctly typed arguments.
  • Start-minimized-to-tray works even when the tray host is hidden or starts late.

Changed

  • The GUI moved from PyQt5 to PyQt6.
  • The Flatpak runtime moved to Freedesktop/KDE 25.08 and 6.11, and the bundled PipeWire client was updated to 1.6.10.
  • The pydbus/PyGObject dependency was removed in favor of direct QtDBus portal calls.
  • Minimum Python is now 3.10.
  • Current Routes is now a section of the Audio Routing tab rather than its own tab.
  • The Audio Routing tab uses a vertical splitter between its sections.

Changes in v0.4.1:

Fixed

  • The Flatpak now installs the bundled PipeWire 1.6.10 client library to /app/lib instead of /app/lib64, a path the Flatpak loader doesn’t search. As a result, pw-dump and pw-cli now use the bundled 1.6.10 library instead of the runtime’s 1.4.9.
