From Beyond: Arcade Edition has been released for Linux on Steam.

The game is a space shoot ’em up that turns a complete ’80s synth rock album into an interactive experience: shoot song lyrics and aliens in time with the music. The price is €4.29, with a 20% launch discount (€3.43).

It features 10 tracks (about 45 minutes), 6 power-ups, boss fights, 7 additional spaceships, leaderboards and achievements. There is no “Game Over”, and Peaceful Mode lets you enjoy the album without any hostile enemies.

An entire ’80s inspired rock album turned into a space shoot ’em up complete with leaderboards, stats, achievements, and VHS because… why would we make a game without VHS? Shoot the song lyrics and alien bad guys who are determined to drop your score. Dodge alien attacks while using satisfying powerups to build up that score and then brag to your friends about your position on the leaderboards.
