Diggers: mining strategy game released in R62

Diggers has been released in version R62.

Diggers is a mining strategy game originally released for the Amiga CD32, in which players command crews of miners to extract gems and ores while racing AI opponents; this project is an open-source remake.

R62 mainly brings bug fixes for Windows and Linux along with early work on the level editor.

Highlights…

  • Fixed an error on Windows with non-standard time zones.
  • Fixed random strange window behaviour and display corruption on Wayland in Linux.
  • Diggers now requires Windows 7 to run minimum.
  • Work on level editor which is still alpha quality. Use executable argument gam_test=-2 to test it out.
  • Fixed a script error when pressing LEFT or RIGHT on any button in the setup screen.
  • Platform devices won’t try to move Diggers that are jumping and various other objects like Piranha, Fungi, campfires, etc.
  • Fix possible use of uninitialised variable in AI player purchasing.
  • Slightly increase chance of AI purchasing something to keep the game fair.
  • Fix ability to perform some shortcut key actions when you’re not supposed to (e.g. grabbing items when dying).
  • Diggers run away from other diggers that are being eaten.
  • Add delay for 0 score entries.
  • Fix eaten and dying (exploding) objects being able to be set as in danger and have their busy status unset by that.
  • Adjust ending credits level treasure and fiends Y order.
