Robot Roller-Derby Disco Dodgeball has received Update 10.3 on Steam, which also runs on Linux.
Robot Roller-Derby Disco Dodgeball is a multiplayer shooter where unicycle robots battle each other with dodgeballs in neon-drenched disco arenas. This update focuses on improved scoreboards with progress bars, an external audio visualizer for browsers, and several balance changes around the spawn shield. This is already the third follow-up update in a short time, after Update 10.2.
Features
- Improved scoreboards - They now show progress bars towards a goal, and little portraits of the bots in rounds where individual scores/status are essential (FFA, Elimination, etc). Round wins are represented by a separate progress meter as well
- External audio visualizer works with browsers. You can leave it on “Auto” mode or select your browser directly from the audio settings page
Improvements
- Bot pathfinding is improved - they are slightly less rigid about following specific routes, to make them more realistic. In racing modes bots are better about planning ahead to more smoothly target the next checkpoint
- Arena light bars in Fort don’t flash so brightly
- Game launch is quicker and smoother, and has more spinny color dots just for fun
- Improved performance of chat window
- Chat messages have short animation when appearing
Balance Changes
- Removed temporary shield you get when picking up super ball
- Picking up a ball or cube immediately removes your spawn shield instead of just simply having it decay much faster
- Added more logic to prevent bots from catching in PvE modes
- Moved Cube Capture spawn locations in Cage, as it was too easy to receive the cube with your spawn shield still active
- Singleplayer bot match countdown starts at 3 instead of 5
- Getting hit with a ball when you have a health meter adds a 1 second shield to prevent extremely rapid hits
Bug Fixes
- Made steam stat sync & uploads more reliable
- Fixed a few cases of ’null references’ causing game instability
- Added protection against being able to catch fireball throws in multiplayer due to latency
- Added code to protect against bots being flagged as ‘on ground’ when they were actually in the air
- Fixed blank space in chat window
- Fixed inconsistent ESC behavior on the end of match menus
