The MD Engine has been released for Linux on Steam.
It is a visual game engine that lets you build 16-bit titles such as platformers, shooters or action RPGs in the style of the Sega Mega Drive using a drag-and-drop event system, without writing a single line of code. The engine costs 19.99 EUR and is available at a 15% launch discount for 16.99 EUR.
Finished games can be exported to cartridges and run on real Mega Drive / Genesis hardware, or via HTML5 export in the browser, or as a Windows build with Steam integration including achievements. A built-in debugger shows palettes, variables, actor positions and game logic in real time. The editor UI and scripting system are based on GB Studio by Chris Maltby.
