Legendary has been released in version 0.21.1 “Lowlife”.
Legendary is an open-source command-line client for downloading, installing and launching games from the Epic Games Store on Linux, macOS and Windows, serving as an alternative to the official Epic Games Launcher.
This hotfix backports a few more changes from Heroic’s fork of Legendary. The Linux binaries shrink from around 13 MiB to 3 MiB, and games run through third-party launchers (Ubisoft Connect, EA App) work correctly again when Legendary is used inside Flatpak with umu/Proton.
This is a small hotfix release, primarily to backport a few more changes from Heroic’s fork of Legendary.
Concrete changes
- Linux binaries are now smaller (~13MiB -> ~3MiB)
- Wrapper EXE support is added again, fixing support for some titles expecting “EpicGamesLauncher.exe” to be their parent process (e.g. Rockstar titles)
- Linux: Running games managed by a third-party launcher (Ubisoft Connect / EA App) now works correctly when using Legendary inside Flatpak (or installed into
/usr) and using umu to run Proton- macOS: Symlinks (used by some native games) are now supported
