sc-controller, the Linux user-mode driver for the Steam- and other controllers (eg. DS4/DS5), has been released in version 0.7.1 - shortly after version 0.7.0.
This release mainly fixes a regression from 0.7.0 that broke some features on manually registered controllers. On top of that, the Steam Deck now has its stick-touch sensors wired up, mouse actions via sticks on Bluetooth controllers are smoothed out to 250Hz, and the DS5 touchpad over hidraw works again. If you haven’t migrated your custom profiles yet, the notes from the 0.7.0 release still apply.
What’s Changed
- Fixed up a regression from v0.7.0 which broke some features on manually registered controllers
- Steam Deck now has the stick-touch sensors wired up - GUI configuration for those coming soon™
- Added a feature for controllers connected over BT, where if a mouse action is triggered via a stick, it is smoothed out to 250Hz even if the controller input is less - this should make camera movement smooth
- This may get expanded to even wired controllers and more actions in the future, let me know what you’d like to see behave smoother
- Fix touchpad on DS5 connected over hidraw not working
- Fix automapper not reading from SDL’s database correctly, getting controllers like Xbox One S working with the feature
- Right stick on the default Xbox profile is now also boosted by 20% just like the left stick was, to avoid diagonal movement having less oomph
- Further fixes for the input mapper not highlighting/showing things as it should
- Some crash fixes
- Lots of deprecation fixes, making a possible future migration to GTK4 easier
