Arctis Sound Manager has been released in version 1.4.0.
The tool manages audio settings for SteelSeries Arctis headsets on Linux, including microphone noise cancellation, external output routing and other audio features.
Shortly after version 1.3.0, this release brings the most requested feature: ASM now runs without a connected SteelSeries headset. The four channels, volume control, Sonar EQ, HeSuVi spatial audio, the application router and Clips only manipulate PipeWire sink names and never touch USB. It also fixes a bug where “Launch at login” stopped working after updating to 1.3.0.
Added
- ASM now runs without a SteelSeries headset. The four channels, per-channel volume, the Sonar EQ, HeSuVi spatial audio, the application router and Clips only manipulate PipeWire sink names and never touch USB. Turn on “Use ASM without a SteelSeries headset” in Settings, pick the output your headphones are plugged into, and the channels are built on it. Nothing changes for a SteelSeries headset: the mode is off by default and a connected Arctis always wins.
Fixed
- “Launch at login” stopped working after updating to 1.3.0. The 1.3.0 update renamed the tray unit but left the old one behind, so autostart pointed at a file that no longer existed. The daemon now migrates the setting automatically on first start after the update.
