Simple GIF Maker, ein Werkzeug zum Umwandeln von Videodateien in GIFs und animierte WebP-Dateien, wurde für Linux und SteamOS auf Steam veröffentlicht.
Die Anwendung nimmt gängige Videoformate (MP4, MOV, MKV, WebM, AVI und weitere) entgegen und erzeugt daraus GIF- oder WebP-Animationen, wobei eine Suche auf eine vorgegebene maximale Dateigröße hinarbeitet und dabei echte Encodes misst statt aus einer Formel zu schätzen. Simple GIF Maker kostet 4,15 € (regulär 5,19 €, Angebot bis zum 24. September).
Enthalten sind außerdem eine Vorschau, die einen echten GIF-Encode mit derselben Palette und demselben Dithering wie die Ausgabedatei abspielt, sowie Werkzeuge zum Zuschneiden, Beschneiden, Skalieren, Drehen und Anpassen der Bildrate. Die Verarbeitung läuft komplett lokal - keine Netzwerkverbindungen, keine Telemetrie, kein Wasserzeichen.
Simple GIF & WebP Maker converts video files into GIFs and animated WebP files. It’s a desktop application for Windows and SteamOS.
The two things it does that a plain converter doesn’t: work backwards from a file size limit, and show you a preview that’s a real encode instead of an approximation.
SIZE TARGETS: Set a maximum file size and the app looks for the best-looking file that fits under it. It encodes and measures real files as it searches instead of estimating from a formula, and it tells you what it changed. Presets cover the usual upload limits, and a custom target takes anything from 0.1 MB to 5000 MB.
PREVIEW: The preview pane encodes a GIF at the current settings and plays it, with the same palette, dithering and loop behavior the exported file will have. A side-by-side view shows the source and the encoded result together.
INPUT: MP4, MOV, MKV, WebM, AVI, WMV, M4V, MPG, MPEG and GIF. Output: GIF and animated WebP.
LOCAL PROCESSING: The application makes no network connections. There is no telemetry, no analytics, no crash reporting, no account and no online activation, and exported files carry no watermark.
