SteamDB, die bekannte Community-Datenbank rund um Steam-Spiele, gehört ab sofort zu Nexus Mods.

SteamDB sammelt seit 2012 öffentlich Daten zu Steam-Builds, Depots, Manifesten, Preisen und Update-Verläufen. Die Übernahme wurde am 2. September 2026 von beiden Seiten bekannt gegeben; der Kaufpreis bleibt ungenannt. Beide Plattformen gehören damit zum selben Eigentümer Chosen, der Nexus Mods vor rund einem Jahr gekauft hatte.

Für Nutzer soll sich zunächst wenig ändern: SteamDB behält Name, Marke, Community und kostenlosen Zugang, die Browser-Erweiterung wird weiter gepflegt, und ein Nexus-Mods-Konto ist zum Stöbern nicht nötig. Werbung ist derzeit nicht geplant. Mitgründer xPaw (Pavel Djundik) begründet den Schritt mit Überlastung nach Jahren als Ein-Mann-Projekt und steht dem neuen Team noch einige Monate beratend zur Seite.

Mods are often built around a particular version of a game, so when there’s an update for it, your game that was perfectly modded and working the day before now just…doesn’t. SteamDB already tracks an incredible amount of information about game builds, depots, manifests, files, and update history across Steam, including years of historical data. [A] mod manager could better understand which version of the game you’re running, whether mods you’re installing were built for it, and whether an incoming game update is likely to cause issues.

Für die Zukunft nennt Nexus Mods zusätzliche Investitionen in Infrastruktur und Entwicklung sowie mögliche Werkzeuge zur Mod-Kompatibilität und eine offizielle API.
