Ghost of Tsushima Frame Gen Crashes

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 16. Mai 2024 - 22:54

A heads up to anyone having issues with GoT.

If you have Frame Gen enabled, you will get lots of crashes, both mid game and when tabbing out or changing graphics settings.

Other than that, the game runs super nicely!

SMAPI not working

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 16. Mai 2024 - 22:09

So I'm trying to mod stardew valley, however the mods never load, and I have no idea why. I perfectly followed the instructions, and it told me that booting it up as usual would launch SMAPI automatically. However, it doesn't. The only notable things I would say are off is that launching stardew valley doesn't show a terminal pop-up launching SMAPI, and that when I try to launch it, most of the time it says "Winepreloader 64 crashed" and doesn't launch. However sometimes it works. Anyone think they could help? Or if this isn't the right community, please point me to the right one. I really want to play modded-

Dying Light has no sound in intro video, but has in game when running native, works without issue with Proton except it needs ~20 minutes to launch

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 16. Mai 2024 - 22:04

As the title says.

Tried with various Proton versions, including GE-Proton 9.5.

Any fix for no audio in intro video on native, or long launch times with Proton?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 16. Mai 2024 - 21:47

I recently update to Fedora 40 and I install the propetary nvidia drivers following the rpmfusion guide. When i try to launch Dark and Darker the error asking for a dx11 popups.

Any guide on how to fix it? for context when I run this command:

vulkaninfo | grep VK_KHR_surface; nvidia-smi | grep "Driver Version"

Output:

DRM kernel driver 'nvidia-drm' in use. NVK requires nouveau.

fallout 2 extremely slow, unplayable (proton)

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 16. Mai 2024 - 21:45

got wine, lutris, proton experimental, all that good stuff. installed fallout 2 on steam and even the main menu is unplayable and runs in what appears to be slow motion. no idea where to even begin troubleshooting. extremely new to all of this.

on a shitty HP pavilion g6 notebook laptop with an integrated AMD graphics card. i have already tried half life 1 and it runs smooth as butter, but it had native support, no proton or lutris or wine or whatever was needed, so i'm sure the problem lies with one of those rather than the game itself.

EDIT: on linux mint cinnamon 21.3

Impossible to enable gamescope on lutris

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 16. Mai 2024 - 21:20

Hello,

I'm having an issue with Lutris and configuring Gamescope.

Gamescope is installed properly, and my NVIDIA drivers are up to date.

When I run the command 'gamescope -w 1280 -h 720 -W 1920 -H 1080 --fsr vkcube', it works, which means Gamescope is configured correctly.

However, I can't activate it within Lutris, and I'm going crazy trying to understand why. Does anyone have a solution?

Baldur's Gate 3 Crashing

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 16. Mai 2024 - 21:12

Hey all. I've seen a few of these but nothing super recent. I'm trying to get Baldur's Gate 3 to work on my machine. I've tried a few different proton versions but I'm still getting severe crashes. Stats below:

OS: Arch Linux x86_64
Kernel: 6.8.9-arch1-2
DE: Plasma 6.0.4
WM: kwin
CPU: Intel i5-10400 (12) @ 4.300GHz
GPU: AMD ATI Radeon RX 5600 OEM
Memory: 16GB

I've used protons 8, 9, experimental and ge.

It crashes before the menu if I use vulkan so I'm using DirectX 11.

If I let the opening cutscene or any pre-rendered cutscene play, it crashes in the following loading screen. If I skip the cutscene, it will sometimes work for a bit but crash shortly after. I've been able to briefly play the opening level on my longest run but it crashed while starting the first combat.

I've turned all graphics settings to a minimum and it's still crashing. Is there any kind of fix for this?

Play already installed Fallout 3 on Linux

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 16. Mai 2024 - 21:03

Hi there,

I was wondering if anybody tried to play Fallout 3 on GNU/Linux.

This is my situation: I already installed it on Windows, on a separate partition; I use Kubuntu 24.04 and I've tried Steam with Proton, PlayOnLinux/Wine. It happens that Fallout's launcher appears, but says that the game isn't installed.

Any chance to start the game without re-installing it?

(Linux Mint) cannot for the life of me get GoT to actually be playable

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 16. Mai 2024 - 21:02

Behold, the wonders of modern technology

for some reason almost nothing loads in, the menu's look fine, but for some reason the only things that load in are shader related things and the skybox, that is all, the rest just does not work, the game runs well, not that i can see much and i don't know what to do, does anyone have similar problems? or anyone know how to fix this?

GPU: nvidia 3060
CPU: I7 10700
RAM: 16GB
Version: Linux Mint 21.3 Virginia
Nvidia Driver: nvidia-driver-535 (recommended version)

i'm new to linux please don't be mean if its a simple fix.

../src-wine/dlls/winevulkan/loader_thunks.c Line: 3750 Crash in Unreal Engine games on ArchLinux.

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 16. Mai 2024 - 20:37

As of late when playing some games they will randomly crash with the error ../src-wine/dlls/winevulkan/loader_thunks.c Line: 3750. This includes Persona 3 Reload and Pacific Drive, two Unreal Engine games I have been playing.
I am on ArchLinux KDE Plasma Wayland, using an AMD Radeon 6700 XT. An AMD 5 4500 and 32GB of Ram.
So far the only solution I have found is to use AMDVLK instead of vulkan-radeon to run the games, however this only delays the crashes which happen seemingly at random. I have attempted to change proton versions, reinstall the games and even reinstalled Archlinux itself.
Does anyone else suffer from this problem and how can I fix it?

NVK driver gets DRM Format Modifiers to work with Gamescope in Mesa 24.1

Gaming on Linux - 16. Mai 2024 - 20:35
Just recently NVK, the open source Nvidia Vulkan driver, merged in a new Vulkan extension that is rather important and means it will work properly with Gamescope.

Opinions on the GeForce NOW FlatPak?

I had a rocky start but after changing a bunch of options it has become pretty OK. It's pretty interesting as you can add your Steam library and then jump in (although free has queues and 1 quick ad) and start playing.

Sadly it seems the default options are poorly chosen as before I changed them I had crazy input lag and the game would go in slo-mo (not an fps drop) and the speed up...

I have my XBOX Series X controller connected via bluetooth and it was detected and worked in both the app and games without any issues!

So yeah, what do people think? The free option is worth checking out IMO!

Primed my PC to get rid of Windows but now have cold feet.

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 16. Mai 2024 - 19:24

After a lot of experience with Linux, I am prepared to move my main gaming rig to Linux. I chose Arch as the flavour I wanted. However, I am now not sure if I go ahead. I have used Linux before, my server that runs my PiHole, Jellyfin and Nexcloud instances is on Ubuntu 22.04 LTS and I do quite a bit of my software dev work on it. My main concerns are:

  1. I need HDR gaming to work on Plasma 6. A little bit of tinkering is fine but it should work at the end of the day, absolutely cannot compromise on this whatsoever. Dealbreaker.

  2. I keep hearing about how easy to break Arch is and how scary it is.

  3. I own an Nvidia GPU (RTX 3070Ti) and I keep hearing that if you don’t have an AMD card it’s a nightmare.

  4. I have some experience with my steam deck so I have some experience gaming on Linux but I don’t know much about GameScope or compositors and I know very little about Wayland. Some of the applications I use only work on X11 (anydesk) and I need to know if there are workarounds

Bonus: this is not a deal breaker but what’s the status on getting Oculus Rift S working on Linux? Last I heard it was impossible

Can I pull the plug? Or should I wait? Or are there other things to consider?

Does it behave as intended?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 16. Mai 2024 - 19:14

So, I was trying to figure out why does Helldivers 2 work on Linux with half the framerate from W10. I've updated the driver and tried running from Nobara installation, but everything was the same. Now I've tested the GravityMark benchmark to get some understanding of how the GPU - Nvidia 1650 Super shall behave. Here's what I've got:

OS(Renderer) Score Avg.FPS W10(Vulkan) 6,974 41.7 W10(Dx11) 6,159 36.9 W10(Dx12) 4,963 29.7 Linux(Wine Vulkan) 6,630 39.7 Linux(DXVK) 5,449 32.6 Linux(VKD3D) 5,868 35.1 Linux(Native Vulkan) 6,809 40.7 Linux(OpenGL) 4,515 27.0

So, shall it be this way? Is the performance drop accurate to how other y'all have it? Are there ways to configure Proton for better perf-ce? I was using latest wine proton GE

Multi-GPU & Multi-Monitor VRR X11 on Nvidia?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 16. Mai 2024 - 18:49

I have a spare GPU, has anyone confirmed that you can use X11 and plug the main VRR monitor into the Nvidia GPU and the secondary monitor(s) into the secondary GPU?

Is there any special setup needed? Can I still drag windows between the displays easily?

I know Nvidia fixes are coming soon, but I don't want to wait 1-2 months to be able to play native Vulkan games.
