Nvidia PhysX Games
Nobara user here. I’m currently chewing through some old games that use PhysX. The trouble is I can’t get them to run well with PhysX, as all of the simulations go to the CPU. Any help ? How do I fix the PhysX performance drop ?

I'm making a gritty asteroid mining incremental game with native Linux support - Orebits
Welcome to Orebits, a gritty atmospheric incremental game where you mine asteroids for a greedy corporation and explore mysteries in space.
The playtest is ready now on the Steam page:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/3635490/Orebits/
Are you a Linux gamer, then I would love to hear your feedback!
On the main menu you will find a survey. Our two man team has been working on Orebits for about a year (part-time) and it will only take you a few minutes to judge it :).
Orebits will have native Linux support, for the demo and the final release.
Thanks a lot!

Devil May Cry HD Collection (GOG) not working at all through Heroic Games Launcher
I have DMC:HD Collection because cloud saving, and I wanted to run in on Steam Deck, I checked ProtonDB and, apart from no one specifies if they have the game on Steam or GOG (GOG version uses different executables and game size is slightly different so it may affect), people’s main issue is that videos doesn’t work properly.
When I launch the game, it opens the HD Collection Launcher, but when I try to run DMC3, it simply closes the launcher and doesn’t even run the game.
I tried:
- Running the game through Steam shortcut that Heroic creates.
- Running the game through Heroic on Steam Gaming Mode (double checked it didn’t run in the background)
- Running the game through Heroic on Desktop Mode. Here the game launches, but controller doesnt work.
- All of the above with Proton Experimental and latest Proton GE (10.34)
- All lf the above with this fix

Does NVIDIA graphic cards drivers slow your performance down like I was told on windows?
I was told, that on Windows your NVIDIA graphic cards drivers actually slow down your performance newer you download, because NVIDIA want you to buy newer hardware.
So I wonder, does this count for Linux or is it same story?
Or is this slowing down stuff just big hoax?

Just Wanna Ask - Do some games run on XFCE?
I haven't switched to Linux yet, because I don't really have many reasons to switch, but I'm considering it. One main thing is if:
- [Cracked] launchers for Minecraft work (Multiplayer)
- Geometry Dash (with Geode)
- Steam (ofc)
Also, what are your guys' experiences on Linux (specifically XFCE)? I'm really considering my options, and IDK if I want a new interface.

Anyone successfully playing games with rtx 5090?
I’ve been plagued with crashes resulting from the XiD error 109: ctx switch timeout (although i think that’s still a symptom of a deeper issue) when playing games like cyberpunk, need for speed heat, etc.
Doesn’t matter how much load the GPU is under or if ray tracing/dlss are enabled or anything like that. I’ve tried a few different driver versions across 595, 590, and 580 and they all have the same issue. The error also happens really randomly but always within an hour or two of playing.
I’m running arch linux with wayland and hyprland and this issue has happened across the lts kernel 6.8.20 and the mainline latest version too. I know this is really an issue with the nvidia graphics drivers and so there might be nothing i can really do (believe me i’ve tried almost everything) but super curious if there’s anyone that’s actually had a smooth experience

Should I play on KDE Plasma or Gamescope for the best experience?
Hi everyone, I just switched to Arch Linux at the beginning of 2026 and I'm still learning the ropes. I'm running a Ryzen 5 5600 with an RX 6600 XT.
I've been experimenting with two ways of gaming: staying on my KDE Plasma desktop and launching games from there, or switching to a Gamescope session (like SteamOS Gaming Mode).
As a newbie, I noticed Gamescope feels a bit 'smoother' and more like a console, but KDE is more convenient for multitasking. Is there a technical reason to prefer one over the other for pure performance? Also, I've had some weirdness with my save games not showing up when I switch sessions—is that normal?
Would love some beginner-friendly advice on which one I should stick with for heavy games like Crimson Desert or RDR2. Thanks!
btw i use ai to ask you guys, because i dont really understand all of linux feature

Direct drive racing sim wheel on Linux
Hi all,
I'm moving my gaming setup to a full linux system and it's also about time to retire my old wheel so I want to upgrade to a 9nm direct drive setup. What is the consensus on direct drive wheels for Linux systems? I'm using CachyOS at the moment but I'm open to switching to different distros if need be. FFB is necessary ofc, that's the whole point of direct drive.

How can I play FiveM on Linux?
I have Arch with latest version of Wine, installed Rockstar Games Launcher, GTA V and FiveM through it. Firstly, after loading makes an error "Cannot find PlayGTAV.exe". I set FiveM a directory with game, and it tries to launch the game. But, after 5 seconds game has crashed. Do I have something that might be useful for me in this situation?

Sims 4 no longer launching after update
Decided to update my game as the latest hotfix was supposed to fix a "failed to launch" error. Unfortunately, the patch hasn't solved this issue and none of the fixes on any discussion page have resolved it. I'm running Linux Mint 22.3 and have the game running through Steam.
Moving the EA Desktop folder to the correct location, changing to GE-Proton/downgrading to older Proton versions, and reinstalling/repairing the EA app via protontricks have done nothing to resolve this issue. I also know that the error is unrelated to mods/cc because I've completely cleared the mods folder, reinstalled the game, and verified file integrity multiple times.

LoL on Linux
The only reason I don't use a Linux distro is because of League of Legends. I've been a Seraphine one-trick pony since 2021, and I was forced to use Windows 11 just to keep playing. But Windows 11 is becoming increasingly unstable and full of bloatware.
I would really love for Riot to make LoL available on Linux somehow, just to stop depending on Microsoft. But if there's no solution, I'll have to make the sad decision to stop playing the game for two big reasons: the very poor state of Seraphine as a mage and the fact that Windows 11 is terrible for gaming.
pd. I thought about emulating it from the macOS version, but there isn't much information about it.

We're a tiny 2-person team finishing a cozy ice fishing game that will be available on Linux! What do you think?
In the last years, we've been working on "Ice Pond: An Ice Fishing Adventure", a chill yet challenging ice fishing game, spiced up with RPG and management elements. The game will be playable on Linux. 😊🐧
Please feel free to give us your first impressions!
If you want to see more of the game, you can find the Steam page here (if interested make sure to Wishlist, since the release is scheduled for November!): https://store.steampowered.com/app/4266710/Ice_Pond_An_Ice_Fishing_Adventure/

Can my computer run Elden ring or Hogwarts Legacy?
What all do I need to do? It was working this morning. Buts it’s like it quit. Any advice would help, in new to Linux but I’m really trying to figure it out! This is what I’m working with. The screen gets stuck and I have to completely exit out of steam? How do I fix this!

This is why I’m working with Hogwarts Legacy bazzite 43
It runs ans then there’s no sound when characters you’re talking. You can hear music and then some times I get a black screen. Help! It won’t close out or play it. It worked kinda this morning now not at all. I’m still leaning this operating system!

Safe File Has Been Reset in Power Washing Simulator 2
So, this happened to me with the first game and I just downloaded 100% save file. Because the one time I boot up the game and it resets everything. And now it’s happened to the sequel of the game. I seriously don’t know why it thinks resetting all my progress is good or needed. I use Fedora Linux if that somehow would cause this, but I used windows for the first game so idk. And it happens randomly, just one time I boot into the game, if it was more consistent with other games I’d think it was a steam cloud issue. Let me know your thoughts on how I could get my save back, it might still be saved locally but idk.
