Just started playing Star Wars Survivor, and omg 😱 it’s as good as the original.

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 17. Februar 2026 - 10:29

Okay soooo been a Linux gamer for about 4 years now, and wow has things progressed positively since then.

Today I finally started playing “Star Wars Survivor” on my desktop running CachyOS. It’s running the game on epic setting too on my ultrawide 49 inch monitor.

Super excited, and already got pretty far so since I’m on PTO this week guess who’s playing the game in full. I did have one question how well does the game run on the deck like I remover playing cyberpunk between the two, and lord did I notice a huge difference in quality.

Guide to Audio Multi-channel and Surround

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 17. Februar 2026 - 09:39

Hello,

I created a new guide for Audio.

Virtual Surround needs more research and testing. You may ask a question and the guide will be updated accordingly. The goal is to curate best practices and common troubleshoots.

All feedbacks are welcome.

Help - Nvidia GPU Laptop HDMI Black Screen at High Refresh Rates (Ubuntu 24.04) - Works fine on Windows

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 17. Februar 2026 - 07:49

Hi everyone,

I'm running Ubuntu 24.04 on a laptop with an Nvidia RTX 4060. I have an external Acer monitor connected via HDMI.

The Issue: My external monitor works perfectly at 60Hz and 120Hz. However, as soon as I try to set it to its native 200Hz (or even 165Hz), the screen goes completely black.

  • The monitor signal is lost or black until it reverts settings.
  • This exact setup works perfectly on Windows 11 on the same machine (200Hz, full RGB color, no issues).

My Setup:

  • OS: Ubuntu 24.04 LTS
  • GPU: Nvidia RTX 4060 Laptop GPU
  • Driver: Proprietary nvidia-driver-570 (verified via nvidia-smi)
  • Display Server: X11 (I switched from Wayland, confirmed via Settings)
  • Connection: HDMI directly to the dGPU (Nvidia card).

What I have tried (and failed):

  1. Switching to X11
  2. Drivers: Verified I am using the proprietary 570 drivers. nvidia-smi shows the Xorg process running on the GPU.
  3. xrandr:
    • xrandr lists the modes correctly (up to 200Hz).
    • Manually forcing the rate via xrandr --output HDMI-0 --mode 1920x1080 --rate 165 results in a black screen.

Is there anything that can be done?

PS5 sound to PC

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 17. Februar 2026 - 05:08

I want to listen to my PS5 on my PC. I am on fedora.
I used to to this on Windows. Basically my PS5 is connected to my monitor using an HDMI cable. From the same monitor I have an AUX cable to goes to a static isolator and then to the motherboard in the Line-in (pink) input. Then in the sound settings on Windows I listen to this device and I have audio in my headset.

I tried doing essentially the same on linux using pulse audio volume control and helvum, where I created a loopback using this command:
pactl load-module module-loopback latency\_msec=60
but all I hear is static noise (like tv snow). is there another way to have the PS5 audio on my pc or do I need a USB audio adapter or a sound mixer for that?

I've got Nouveau and NVIDIA Maxwell card listed in system info, but vulkan-info shows only Intel GPU

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 17. Februar 2026 - 03:45

I want to fine-tune Linux on my old laptop for max graphics keeping all open-source. I understand Vulkan is a way to go, correct?

I see 'NVIDIA K620M' 'driver: nouveau' listed in system info, but vulkan-info shows only Intel GPU (and some '(llvmpipe (LLVM 15.0.7, 256 bits))').

https://nouveau.freedesktop.org/

Vulkan is supported on all Kepler and later GPUs.

Web search shows my card is Maxwell arc and Maxwell is next after Kepler.

How to make Vulkan recognize and use my NVIDIA card? TIA

I have a question

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 17. Februar 2026 - 03:07

Am I the only one playing Left 4 Dead 2 with terrible performance?

Because it's the only game that runs worse for me since I switched to Linux. And if you suggest it's because of my PC, my laptop meets the recommended requirements, and even more demanding games run perfectly fine. For example, Battlefield 4 runs great on medium graphics.

Please tell me I'm not the only one, and if I am, do you know how to fix it? By the way, my laptop has 8GB of RAM, a 6th generation Intel Core i5 with integrated graphics.
