Struggling with a few hopefully minor issues stopping me from enjoying gaming on Linux
I am on Fedora 43 Workstation and have installed a few games in Steam. I previously had KDE installed but wiped it as I was just finding too many bugs. Gnome is more stable for me and I prefer the UI. Anyway, I also have a pair of Anker Soundcore A40 earphones connected via Bluetooth. When connected it selects AAC codec and sounds great in Youtube etc.
However, every time I play a game, it automatically switches to a really poor quality codec and sounds like it is playing underwater. It is unbareable. This was also happening on KDE. I worked out that what is happening is my earphones are pairing as 2 devices. It shows up as "Headset - Soundscore Space A40" and "Handsfree - Soundcore Space A40". The first is the decent sound quality and the second is terrible. But every game switches it to the "Handsfree" one. I can manually switch it back but it is annoying and sometimes it will switch it back again.
The other issue I have is with some games like Dayz. Dayz opens first off with a server browser window. I select a server and start playing. The issue is on the game screen you can see the outline of the server window behind it which is really annoying.
Any suggestions to fix these 2 issues?

How good is Sober? Can you use your normal Roblox account? And, is there any risks that if you use your old account, you get banned or lose progress?

FSR4 will only be supported on RDNA4+ in official Proton releases
As there is limited discussion on this topic, two weeks ago, vkd3d-proton merged a change that disabled all types of emulation paths for FP8 that made it possible for RDNA2/3 to run the "official" FSR4 model. Note that this does not affect people running the leaked INT8 model or other modified DLLs.
This decision is above my paygrade and it's done to work toward being able to support FSR4 more officially in Proton.
Custom builds of vkd3d will be required going forward for anyone who wants to use the FP8 model on older hardware. I'm unsure if the main forks (GE/EM/cachyos) already do this so they may be unaffected.

Game stuttering, mostly when moving mouse
Hey everyone,
I’ve been happily using Linux for over 6 months now, and overall it’s been an amazing experience. But there’s one issue that’s honestly driving me insane: constant stuttering in games, especially when moving the mouse.
I’m currently on Fedora 43 (previously 42). My system specs:
- RTX 4090
- i9-10900K
- 64 GB RAM
- 144Hz G-Sync monitor
The stutter happens in several games — for example, Atomic Heart and Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. When I boot into Windows, everything runs perfectly smooth, no stutter at all.
Here’s what I’ve already tried:
- Lowered mouse polling rate to 500Hz (and below)
- Disabled mouse acceleration
- Enabled VRR
- Updated from Fedora 42 → 43
- Using the latest Proton GE build
- Running Steam RPM version instead of Flatpak
Everything else works great, but this mouse-related stutter completely ruins the experience. It’s honestly getting to the point where it’s hard to enjoy gaming anymore, and I really don’t want to go back to Windows after six amazing months on Linux.
Does anyone know how I can troubleshoot this further or if there are known fixes for mouse-induced stuttering on Fedora/NVIDIA setups?
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated

No AMD AntiLag, nor Framegen option in Arc Riders
Just like in tittle, I can't find these options anywhere. I've tried to run the game using `proton-hotfix`, `proton-experimental` and my default `GE-proton`. None of these had the option to enable FG/AL. I've also tried changing from full screen to borderless. Is this issue connected to the "AMD Driver version" issue?

Mouse leaves gamefocus whenever i press right mouse button
I was trying to play marvel rivals (Ubuntu 25.10, GNOME 49.0, Mutter Wayland) and if i try to turn my character ie move my mouse an amount that would traditionally move it outside the game window and press the right mouse button the cursor leaves the game and jumps to whatever other monitor it now decided that it was on. This is, as one can image, very annoying and i wondered if anyone has had any issues like this before or knows something that could possibly solve it.
For reference i have tried proton GE and normal proton with Automatically capture the mouse in full-screen mode enabled. to no luck. This is also present in other games like ready or not but due to the gameplay it is less of an issue

Is there any way to run Ubisoft Connect directly through Proton from Steam?
... without installing any third-party tools like Lutris or Heroic Launcher.
Every game on Steam that requires Ubisoft Connect installs it separately. That means overhead and it does not save settings.
Is there a way to make these games launch a Prefix that has Ubisoft Connect already installed?

Sober is extremely slow
(I'm on linux mint)
It's horrendously slow I have a bad GPU and cpu but on windows I would get usually 40-60+ fps but on sober it's around 15-5, I enabled opengl but that bugs a LOT of games out just to not even be as fast as windows.. Isn't it supposed to be faster?

Zordeer version 0.3 and Meganimus version 0.2
I released a new version of Zordeer, version 0.3, and a new version of Meganimus, version 0.2.
Zordeer is a launcher for games that run via Wine/Proton.
Meganimus, on the other hand, is a launcher for native and emulator games, and it's simpler, serving to have a more organized library.
The main additions were the grid view mode as shown in the image, the function to transfer images based on the added items, and a .desktop shortcut manager.

Radium Textures A VRAMr Linux Port! First Release.
Hi guys, I was working on a linux release for the tool called VRAMr (Skyrim Fallout 4). Unfortunately, I was not able to make it fully native to linux. As most tools seem to struggle with resizing DDS files and going to the BC7 format. The only thing that is required is Wine. And as of right now it is only doing Skyrim atm! But I will be adding FO4 support and proton detection for those who can't install wine.
I tried to follow closely as possible to VRAMr, but I had to make adjustments because of MO2's VFS.
Please share results if possible, thanks!

9070XT acquired.
I have a 4080S in my windows PC but I've been having fun distro hopping lately so I traded in my 3080ti for a 9070XT at Newegg to get the full experience on Linux.
Once I settle in on a distro I'll install bare metal as right now I'm using VMs on Proxmox with GPU passthrough. Current contenders are Bazzite, Nobara and CachyOS.

How well do windows 7 and pre windows 7 games work on linux?
I'm sure made for windows 10 games will work for a long time on future windows os and hardware, but games which run the best on windows 7 and pre 7, performance wise, especially with mods and cheat engines and compatibility, can they run just as well on wine for example?
I only play older games and have no interest in future games. So am i fucked or will it smooth sailing?
