The Crew Motorfest Error on Bazzite

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 12. Oktober 2025 - 21:25

I've been trying to run the game on Bazzite on Rog Ally X. protonDb website lists this game as playable but I get this error and I don't know how to resolve it. I tried trying different versions of official and community build proton versions. Battleye is also installed through Steam and Ubisoft connect also seems to be launching properly and signing in properly as I see it flash and I see game start, and then this error pops up. Game audio plays by the way (the same audio when game is first installed and started)

Framerate Issues With Mint

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 12. Oktober 2025 - 20:08

Newbie to Linux here, I installed Mint the other day but I'm running into issues with my games either running at crawling framerates or outright freezing my entire machine. I'm running an Nvidia graphics card, and I do hear that this sort of thing is a common problem with Nvidia-do any of you know any means of getting my games to work?

If it's any help, these are my system specs:

DualSense Adaptive Triggers works but not Haptic Feedback or any sort of Rumble.

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 12. Oktober 2025 - 19:28

I'm running Arch Linux 6.17.1 on KDE Plasma 6, i checked every thread under the sun but without success.

Basically the title, the DualSense controller is updated and connected via USB. In DualSense native supported games (TLOU Part 1 / 2 for example) Steam Input is turned off but i still get a "DualSense vibrations are currently unavailable because the controllers audio is disabled" error.

I tried multiple Proton version (every GE-Proton to 10-10 to 10.17, ClearlyClair versions, other GE Haptics version and the latest proton-cachyos) with no success. I also tried multiple udev rules (even installed game-devices-udev from AUR), audio device profiles switch and changing the name of the DualSense to "DualSense Wireless Controller" or "Wireles Controller" in both Steam and Pipewire both via KDE Plasma settings and wireplumber conf files.

While connected via Bluetooth the DualSense does not show up as an audio source (this is to be expected, i believe) but at least i get basic rumble, TLOU for example allows me to use basic vibrations but not haptics. Via cable i don't get either. What is strange is that Adaptive Triggers works in both Bluetooth (i didn't believe it was possible, TLOU even warns me about it) and wired.

Opening the audio tab in winecfg shows the DualSense as a quadraphonic device, so i believe everything is setup correctly.

The controller speaker's works perfectly, i can use it as audio output source and testing them in the audio tab of KDE Plasma i get vibration on the back ones in the quadraphonic profile. Also i get normal vibration while using Steam Input or while testing the DualSense on https://hardwaretester.com/gamepad .

In a last desperate attempt i even bought a new cable, connecting the DualSense with a USB-C to USB-C 3.2 20Gbps cable, with no success.

I basically ran out of options, i hope someone might find the time to help me.

What is the fundamental limitation on kernel level anti-cheat?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 12. Oktober 2025 - 19:01

The biggest hurdle to gaming on Linux today is kernel level anti cheat that many games require now. Most other compatibility issues are taken care of by Wine/Proton.

So my question is: what would it take to overcome that hurdle? Would it require the companies that make these anti-cheat to specifically integrate Linux kernel compatibility into their code base? Would secure boot make it further complicated because currently anyone can locally sign their OS in Linux vs. a trusted 3rd party?

What is the most realistic path towards a situation where gaming on linux is not held back like it is today?

Steam Gaming installation help

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 12. Oktober 2025 - 18:51

Just out of curiousity, for installing steam on my linux system, would it be better to install it as a flatpak or actually install the package from the os's repository. I know that installing from flathub and installing from the OS's repos are going to be different in that flathub version, everything is sandboxed whereas installing directly from the repos it isn't. I was just wondering if there is a preferred method for installing steam as the main game I have played so far on linux so far was Minecraft (never was much of a pc gamer to begin with and didn't really care about games like Fortnite or cod not working on linux). I should mention that I am running fedora's sway spin if anyone was wondering.

Games won't use my GPU? (Mabox Linux)

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 12. Oktober 2025 - 18:10

So I'm really new to Linux, I switched from Windows.

My issue is that games just run horribly even tho I've got the GPU drivers installed, I've tried help from the AUR, and went through many reddit posts and forums, I even installed some program called envycontrol. But my performance is still really bad. Now I've only tested it on (Steam) Counter-Strike 1.6 and (Steam) Half-Life, but I'm getting only ~30-40 FPS on 800x600 (They use OpenGL renderer). On Windows I could easily get 500 FPS.

I have an Nvidida GeForce RTX 3060, 16 GB DDR4 RAM, and an 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-11400F. I'm running Mabox Linux 25.10, kernel 6.1.153-1-MANJARO. Linux does recognize my GPU but it's like its being ignored by games (repeating myself here, I DID install the drivers.)

Now I do see that "hl_linux" (Half-Life) takes up almost 80% of my CPU when running! It's like my GPU is being ignored? I might be stupid (probably), but I just need a solution, I haven't had this problem with Windows before. My GPU usage without running Half-Life is ~25%, and when i do run Half-Life nothing changes (except the CPU usage skyrockets.)

I'll gladly provide more info if needed.

Who has ASRock AMD BC-250 Setup?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 12. Oktober 2025 - 16:50

Hello, I'm looking forward to buying ASRock BC-250 APU, but I need to contact to someone who already has it set up and is familiar with it. I've got some questions of how good is it as a daily driver and what to look out for. We could chat on discord!
