Crimson Desert Stuck at 85% usage until a pause with FG 9070XT
Tried in both Nixos and Fedora using 9070xt with Mesa 26.0.3 and 25.6.3, tried proton-cachy, GE, and EM using wine Wayland, HDR, and FSR4.1 on quality and balanced with NTSYNC
Game is in 3440x1440 ultra wide with every setting maxed, averaging about 80fps with 100% gpu usage. However If fps drops below 60 gpu usage drops to 85% and it does not recover unless you pause the game.
I also tried testing with optiscaler and it is 100% reproducible for me and toggling FG to restart it fixes the usage issue.
Curious if anyone else is running into the problem? And or has a fix
EDIT: CPU is 5700X3D, issue does not occur on windows

Sentinel - An Achievement Watcher for Linux Proton Games
Hello beautiful people,
I have built a new app to display achievements for your proton games on Linux. You can just add your prefix path from launchers like Heroic, Faugus and you get a nice native popup for each notification.
You can check it out on Github.

OBS flickers when recording games in footage (Screen Capture PipeWire)
(FOOTAGE SLOWED DOWN)
Whenever I record games with OBS, they do this weird sort of flicker every 5 or so seconds. This flicker is one or two frames long so I had to slow the video down, but they really get in the way and are noticeable even in 30fps. I can notice this flicker even in the preview in the actual OBS.
I'm on CachyOS (KDE Wayland), I use an RTX 3060Ti with a R7 5700x, I tried both obs-studio and obs-studio-browser, and this sort of issue occurs with any game but any other window is being recorded just fine. Any help would be appreciated

[HELP] Stellar Blade crashes on Linux with interactive objects
I've encountered this problem, and my attempts to solve it have yielded no results. Every time I pick up an object (not just this box) and release it, the game freezes, then crashes with a fatal error. What could be the problem?
My PC setup:
CPU: Ryzen 9 5900x
GPU: RTX 3070ti
RAM: 32Gb (4x8gb)
Disk: M2 1tb
Cachy os + Niri
This problem with an interactive object (like the one with the box in this video) also happened later in the game where I needed to move a cart.
My procedure: Hold RT -> move or hold the box -> press B -> crash the game
What I've already tried:
- Changing Proton: GE, Cachy OS, experimental - nothing
- Various launch parameters, including none
- Disabling mods and any files
- Reinstalling the game
- Switching from Niri to KDE (x11)
None of the above methods helped, or maybe I'm just stupid. If anyone knows what the problem is, please help.

jstimeout: auto-disconnect idle Bluetooth controllers on Linux [originally for DS3s]
I made a tool several years ago, that I've upgraded a lot and turned into a more formal AUR release so I thought it may be worth sharing here.
If you use Bluetooth controllers on Linux you've probably had one stay connected for hours after you stopped playing, draining the battery. I wrote a small Go program that monitors input events and force-disconnects the controller over Bluetooth after a configurable idle period.
Originally wrote it for DS3 controllers since Sony baked the idle timeout into proprietary firmware and you literally can't change it without a PS3. But it works with any BT gamepad, you just add the device name to a config file.
Has a deadzone filter so stick drift doesn't reset the timer. Runs as a systemd user service, also has udev rules if you only want it running when controllers are connected. In the AUR as jstimeout-bin and jstimeout-git.

I built a gamepad on-screen keyboard for Linux, no mouse needed
There's no good way to type on a Linux HTPC with just a controller. Steam's keyboard works but requires Steam running. Every other virtual keyboard on Linux (Onboard, Florence, etc.) needs a mouse pointer, isn't feature rich, or is a dead project. The console-style grid keyboard that takes D-pad/stick input directly just doesn't exist on Linux.
So I made one: https://github.com/0x90shell/gamepad-osk
- D-pad/stick navigates the key grid directly, no mouse emulation
- Second stick moves the mouse at the same time so you can click into text fields while typing
- Copy/paste support
- Face button shortcuts (backspace, space, enter)
- No Steam dependency
- Works well with Sunshine + Moonlight streaming
Written in Go. Hook it up to an evsieve chord, a Sunshine prep command, whatever works for your setup. Open to bug reports and PRs. Note: Wayland auto-positioning not currently implemented as it's non-trivial but I'd look at it if enough people wanted it.

Games for my 2015 MacBook Pro running Linux Mint?
Hey everyone, I just made the switch to Linux Mint(first user, bear with me!!!) on my 2015 13-inch MacBook Pro. It has 8 GB RAM with Intel Iris graphics. I know classics like Half-Life 2 run fine, and I also enjoy cozy games. I’m curious about what else it can handle, how well it emulates, and how far I can push it. Any suggestions would be amazing. Thanks!

Streaming only the game audio on Discord?
On windows you could just select the game, hit stream and stream only the selected app's audio. On Linux however you stream everything except discord (so game + browser or anything else). Is there a way to stream only the selected app's audio? Preferably without creating virtual audio devices and redirecting their audio there - as much automated as it can be.
I'm on CachyOS if that's important and I'm pretty new to Linux (had couple of attempts over the years, now trying to do the jump completely)

Anyone knows how to fix this?
Some games (noita and slay the spire) will launch, sound works but it only shows my screen not the game. Tried reinstalling, changing versions and updates etc the only way I can get the game to work for a few days is to delete and reinstall steam.

VKD3D in 3 games - Very interesting performance results
This is with Fragment Shader Interlock merged. A LOT of DX12 games now launch with VKD3D_FEATURE_LEVEL=12_1 and performance is much better than I initially thought. Resident Evil is on everything maxed out (yes, even textures) in 1600p and despite the fact that it should have been running out of VRAM (I have 8 GBs VRAM and the in game settings were like 10.3 GBs I think) it works like an absolute champ close to 60 FPS at all times!
Cyberpunk is buggy still but this is on Ultra at close to 30 FPS with FG on!
Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered also runs really well with close to 40 FPS most of the time on High (Very High would cause a GPU hang so I had to reboot) with FG on as well!
In general this is some amazing performance considering Fragment Shader Interlock is not yet even merged normally (I used mesa-tkg-git on Garuda Linux). Exciting stuff! :)

Bannerlord (BLSE) + Linux + Proton: Can’t Play With Mods
I can’t run Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord with mods on Linux (CachyOS + Heroic + Proton).
The game launches normally, but when I try to run it with BLSE, I get errors and can’t open the modded version of the game.
Is anyone else having this issue? How can I fix it? Is there anyone who can actually play Bannerlord with mods on Linux?

Help needed with bizarre TF2 movement bug: I can only crouch and shoot unless holding alt
Afternoon gamers,
Out of nowhere I've encountered an utterly bizarre bug with team fortress 2 and divent even know where to begin with it. The game has not updated recently (lol) nor my system configuration but suddenly I can't move in-game, I can only crouch, aim or shoot unless I'm holding the alt key, in which case normal input resumes until I let go of alt. I know there is an old feature in TF2 where if you hold alt you can strafe with the mouse however me being quite fat fingered I've unbound that years ago
TF2 is the only affected game, every other native or proton game I play on this PC takes inputs completely fine. I've tried rebooting, resetting the game's configs, reinstalling fresh, changing keyboard layouts and had no luck, I know my keyboard is not at fault as it behaves normally in evtest so I'm led to believe there's some software quirk causing this.
I'm running "snidey kubuntu" (as in, I originally installed base Ubuntu but later installed KDE Plasma on top because I wanted more customisation than gnome offers) unsure if this could be in some way contributing to the issue though it's been fine for the past year so I'm not so sure. I was planning on a shift to Mint at some point in the near future cause snaps are a bit funky so if the solution here is nuke it all and start fresh, well it is what it is
I'm pretty comfortable working in a *nix environment but I'm really quite out of my depth with this one so any and all help would be greatly appreciated as I am canny frustrated by the whole thing, genuinely feel like I'm going insane hahaha
System info:
- Operating System: Ubuntu 25.10
- KDE Plasma Version: 6.4.5
- KDE Frameworks Version: 6.17.0
- Qt Version: 6.9.2
- Kernel Version: 6.17.0-20-generic (64-bit)
- Graphics Platform: Wayland
- Processors: 12 × AMD Ryzen 5 5600XT 6-Core Processor
- Memory: 34 GB of RAM (32.5 GB usable)
- Graphics Processor: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080
- Manufacturer: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd.
- Product Name: B450 I AORUS PRO WIFI
tl;dr I can't move in TF2 unless I'm holding alt, it's the only game affected and the issue persists between reboots and reinstalls, only TF2 is affected and I don't know where to start with fixing this, please help xx
If you need any more information please let me know
Cheers

Error: No GPU Found - (new to ubuntu)
Hello! I am pretty new to Ubuntu (or at least returning after a really, really long time).
Certain games (like Hades) will give me this error message when I attempt to launch them, while others run just fine.
I have a pretty average laptop, with iris xe graphics.
Please treat me like a complete newbie if possible. I tried to find similar questions and/or answers here but couldn't (or couldn't understand them).

GTA 5 Enhanced constant freezes only with DLSS Frame Generation (Fedora 43)
After loading the game, it runs fine for a minute until it completely freezes, requiring me to kill it from System Monitor. I have tried running it with Proton Experimental, Proton GE 10-34, still freezes on both.
When I run Steam via terminal, it keeps showing err:winevulkan:signaller\_worker wait timed out with non-empty poll list. while it's frozen.
If I disable DLSS Frame Generation, it seems to run just fine, but I'd really prefer to play it with Frame Generation with my high refresh rate monitor. Other games work fine, even with Multi Frame Generation.
Here are my system specs:
OS: Fedora Linux 43 KDE Plasma Desktop
Kernel version: 6.19.10-200.fc43.x86-64
KDE Plasma version: 6.6.3
Graphics Platform: Wayland
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 7600X
GPU: Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB
RAM: 32 GB
Is there any fix for this? Any help would be really appreciated.

A Linux Gaming Experience
I just wanted to share my positive experience with gaming on Linux. It’s a bit of a niche situation but demonstrates the advantages of Linux quite well.
I’ve been playing wow’s the burning crusade anniversary and I have two accounts which I use to “dual box”. Which is essentially playing two characters at once. Not using any input software but having one follow the other for example.
This requires I have two instances of the game open. I could set one to be a small window on the lowest settings, but I am often switching between the two windows and prefer to at least have them full screen.
I dual boot and on windows, I need to lock the fps to 60 and typically drop the settings to 3 out of 10. If I bump them up to focus on one game and forget to close the other or have a browser open I’ll encounter “not enough memory” errors which result in the game crashing and sometimes websites or discord.
However on Linux using faugus launcher, I’ve been able to have two instances of the game run on separate monitors at each monitors native resolution and max refresh rate and usually set the graphics to 8 out of 10.
I have an older gpu and I’m really only able to do this with a low load game like classic wow, but it still is a testament to Linux’s power.
Looking forward to the continued growth in the gaming space
