Hello everyone! Has anyone found a way to get battlefield V working?
I finally got rid of windows on my daily drivers and I don't really want to dual boot just for a few games, any recommendation are appreciated!

How do I make changes in folders marked as non-writable?
I downloaded Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead from the official Arch repository and I was going to add a sound pack so the game isn't silent, but I'm unable to edit the folder it's in. It auto installed to /usr/share/cataclysm-dda and both that folder and the sound folder inside of it have a lock icon that says "This folder is not writable for you." when I hover over it. What do I need to do to those folders to add a sound pack?
Edit: I should mention that besides updating my system, I rarely use the terminal.

Making the switch
Hi all!
Just wanted to pipe in. After years of watching this space, I've finally started making the switch to Linux (Pop!_OS).
I've always liked the prospects of what Linux offered, just always been hesitant from the gaming perspective.
My current set up is a Dual Boot with 2 discrete drives. One for Windows 11, one for Pop! OS. I've got 4 additional drives for storage, 2 are for windows still, with the other 2 formated for Linux. Ryzen 7 9800X3D, 33GB DDR 5 RAM, RTX 4070 12GB.
I'll likely format another windows drive over to Linux eventually. Keeping one windows drive for annoying anticheat games.
So far my experience has been great with games, but I've noticed that my audio on my wired 3.5 desktop speakers tends to crackle with the onboard audio, but not using my Steele Series headset. So gotta sort that out. aAso getting my stream deck recognized has been a bit of a challenge as I learn the ins and outs of Linux.
I look forward to being here, and welcome any advice or tips being new to Linux!

A simple guide to connect PS4 controller in Linux Mint
- Terminal> ds4drv Install it if not available. Let it scanning for device.
- Enter PS4 pairing mode. (Share + PS button) Connect PS4 through bluetooth.
- ds4drv should detect the device, then you are almost done. Open steam --> Settings --> Controller --> Test Inputs
- If pressing controller button does not get response, close ds4drv (ctrl+c), remove paired PS4 controller, restart 1~3.
It works from my side. Works for non-official PS4 controller as well.

Destiny 2 - Windows VM
I'm in the process of moving to Linux on my gaming machine.
Given the fact that Bungie seems to want nothing to do with linux, I wanted to ask you guys if you've had any issues with running Destiny in a virtual machine? I've been using it fairly regularly over the last week and it all seems to work fine but I am a little concerned I'm going to get hit with the ban hammer at some stage.

Zenless Zone Zero on a 9070xt
Any one else playing Zenless on Linux with a 9070/xt?
When I play the game everything works fine and its playable but it has this really weird issue where the VRAM never goes above 4 gigs. This causes environmental clutter to very aggressively cull and pop back in.
This is not an issue on windows. the game uses closer to 6 gigs with the same setup on windows.
worth mentioning that I am running kernel 6.14.1 and mesa 25.0.3.

Fatal Error! (Mac Mini to Linux)
Worth a shot..
I've got a late 2012 Mac mini kicking around, trying to get a little set-up going for my 5yr-old. He's OBSESSED with Lego Marvel Super Heroes and usually plays on my SteamDeck... but I want it back lol
I updated it to the latest version of Mac OS for this model (Catalina), installed ChimeraOS, fired up the game and got:
Fatal Error!
Sorry, but your machine is unable to run this game. It requires a graphics card which supports Shader Model 3.
The game will now exit!
Any suggestions? I've tried Googling to no avail, and everything I've found says this model of Mac mini should support Shader Model 5?
Model:
Apple Inc. Macmini6,1
Processor:
Intel Core i5-3210 x 4
Graphics:
Intel HD Graphics 4000 (IVB GT2)

What has happened to AMD graphics drivers?
amd drivers are so shit, random ring gfx_0.0.0 timeout here and random suspend hang there, like at this point NVIDIA has AMD beat. It's so frustrating because nothing I do fixes this shit, and its completely random.
Every issue relating to this on the amdgpu git page has never had a working solution to any of this, how am I supposed to do anything if my GPU just kills itself randomly for no reason?
And I know it can't be the hardware, I can stress test the living shit out of it with every stress test imaginable and it just doesn't crash, but it will if i dare to play minecraft for too long, it comes crashing down.
People say AMD drivers are amazing compared to NVIDIA but they suck just as much, if not more.

Gaming Performance Issues on Linux Mint 22.1 on MacBook Pro 2019 16" (T2 Chip + Radeon Pro 5500M) - Need Advice!
Hi everyone,
I'm facing significant gaming performance issues on my MacBook Pro 2019 16" (I know, biggest financial mistake I've made, should've just built a gaming PC, but I was young and delusional at the time.) running Linux Mint 22.1 Cinnamon, and I'm hoping someone can provide guidance. I switched to Linux Mint after considering the end of Windows 10 support and Windows 11's TPM requirements. Unfortunately, I'm encountering problems with GPU performance and compatibility.
My Setup:- MacBook Pro 2019 (16")
- CPU: Intel Core i9-9880H
- GPU: AMD Radeon Pro 5500M
- Linux Mint Version: 22.1 Cinnamon
- Kernel: 6.14.0-2-t2-noble
- Display Server: X11
- Mac-specific hardware: T2 chip
The Issues:- Games not opening: After attempting the hybrid graphics configuration on the t2linux wiki, neither Marvel Rivals nor Genshin Impact will launch. (Haven't bothered installing any other games yet, as these 2 have already proved to be so much of a headache lol.)
- Initial performance issues: Previously, before attempting the hybrid graphics configuration:
- Marvel Rivals: I managed to get it running (thanks to this thread) but only on the lowest settings.
- Genshin Impact: I tried running through Lutris with both the standard and An Anime Game Launcher, as well as An Anime Game Launcher directly from Flatpak, but performance was unplayable (gutter frames, stuttering, graphical errors, etc).
What I’ve Tried:- Installing AMD proprietary drivers and experimenting with kernel parameters (e.g., `amdgpu.dpm=0`).
- Testing games through Proton/Steam and Lutris with various configurations.
- Attempting hybrid graphics setup as per the T2 Linux wiki, but this has resulted in the current issue where the games no longer even open.
- Reverting said hybrid graphics setup, only for the games to still refuse to open.
- EDIT: Forgot to add that I've put DRI_PRIME=1 on launch for both games, seemed to help on Rivals, but unsure if it really had an effect on Genshin. Obviously now I have no clue since neither will launch period lol.
I'm basically at my wits end at this point. And I'm tired of ripping my hair out trying to find a solution that won't just be temporary; leaving me having to re-flash and find another temporary dual-boot solution 6 months down the line like I have been for the last 5 years. I really like Linux as a first time user, and I'd really love to use it, but I'm wondering if I should just take the loss and try installing Windows 11, bypassing the TPM check and using Amernime for AMD Drivers, but I'm skeptical if even that will get me any further. (Last time I tried bypassing the TPM check it corrupted my drive, and I'm unsure if Amernime will work for my purposes or not; I've always used bootcampdrivers.com, but his drivers are wayyy out of date.) My other options I've considered are just starting over again with Linux Mint or moving to Ubuntu, but I imagine I'll just be back at square one with the same issues as when I began. I'm really at a loss as to what to do, I feel like I'm just missing something monumentally and am an idiot lol. I know I've made my options slim for myself in buying a Macbook, unfortunately I was stupid, less experienced, and had different priorities at the time, so I'm not expecting miracle work here or anything lol. I just wanted to see if ANYONE had any information on how best to fix this and/or not want to throw this machine out my window like the expensive paperweight I feel it is right now lol.
TLDR: Struggling with gaming performance on a 2019 MacBook Pro 16" (Intel Core i9, AMD Radeon Pro 5500M) running Linux Mint 22.1. Games like Marvel Rivals and Genshin Impact won't launch after attempting hybrid graphics setup, and performance was poor before. Seeking advice on improving GPU compatibility and performance.

Open Source High DPI gaming mouse
I am curious as to whether there are any high DPI gaming mice for Linux that do not require proprietary configuration software.

Thrustmaster T.Flight STICK X not working completely on Linux Mint.
Hello All!
So my problem is that my T.Flight Stick X is not working completely on Linux.
It behaves like a very basic Joystick with no Rotation-Function (Even though my Stick can Rotate)
Is there some kind of special driver I need or is this fixable through Steam Input?
Any help is appreciated :)
Edit:
I tried Tiny Combat Arena and War Thunder.

Red Dead Redemption 2
Hi I just installed Arch Linux and after setting up every game, it launches perfectly besides Red Dead Redemption 2. Every time I click the play button it goes Launching->Stop->Play without launching the game at all. Is there any way how to fix this? I've tried using the new Proton GE 27 and used other proton's (9.0.4) too and used lutris but nothing works at all..

Helldivers 2 white 1 pixel white border when in borderless windowed mode.
Hey, I'm running Bazzite with my specs being:
RX 7900 GRE
Ryzen 7 7700X
64GB DDR5 6000MHZ RAM
I'm having issues with Helldivers 2, everytime I try to use bordered windowless mode I have two issues. One, it doesn't feel as fluid as running fullscreen. Idk why, but it just feels choppier and there's not the same buttery smoothness to it. Two, there's a 1 pixel white border around the window that really bugs me. I was hoping anyone had a solution. I saw a solution someone else had with changing the launch options to run at 1 pixel larger (I have no launch options in steam currently) but it would run on the wrong monitor and I couldn't figure out how to change it. (I have two monitors, one being a smaller vertical monitor than the other.)
Any tips would be appreciated.

Screenshare on discord doesn't work with audio
So there's supposed to be this new client with native screenshare with wayland, but the audio isn't working. Is it because of pipewire? I'm on Cachyos(arch) and use the flatpak version. Is there a workaround?

Playing a game causes light flickers when i play on Linux system, but not Windows
Hi,
I have 2 SSD hard drives, one with Linux Mint installed and the other with Windows 11. I've observed that playing one game in particular (Stormgate to be precise) on Linux makes the light of the room actually lightly flicker, especially each time i press keyboard keys (the game being a RTS, the make key pressing makes it pretty obvious). Maybe it's happening with other games, i haven't noticed. However I don't think this is happening when i play the very same game over my Windows system. Can anyone think of an explanation? Does Linux OSs manage power differently? Does it manage power drains of GPUs differrently? I have absolutly no idea at all of what i should be considering. Any idea of tests i could conduct to investigate?
Thanks,
