OBS Hotkeys don't work Unless Focused.

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 15. September 2024 - 14:19

Hey,

I Switched to Linux some time ago and Recently wanted to set up something to Record Clips. I Used to use OBS Replay Buffer for that while I was on Windows so I set it up again on Linux but I noticed after a while that the Hotkey I set up for Saving a Replay wasn't working Unless the OBS Window was Focused. When I Launch OBS with sudo, the Hotkeys work when not Focused but OBS doesn't recognize any Audio Sources.

Is there some setting that I'm missing? I've already made sure Settings > Advanced > Hotkeys > Hotkey Focus Behavior is set to Never disable Hotkeys.

I'm on Arch and using the extra/obs-studio Package.

Thanks in Advance <3

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 15. September 2024 - 13:23

Hello fellow Gamers, I have a really annoying Problem currently that is present in every game ( or at least higher graphics 3d games)

for some reason the outlines in objects and shadows Seen to be constantly moving as if they are constantly slowly redrawn.

it's mostly plants and shadows and in Skyrim metalluc objects where the most notable. I completely reinstalled ( I am now on EndevourOs was on Opensuse Tumbleweed before, because I thought I had messed up something with my drivers) and it is still the same.

I have an RX 6600 AMD .

I started Sims earlier and got a good video of a shadow where the problem can be seen. this is really annoying me. I really only can play pixel games because everything else gives me a headache. does anyone have an idea? https://imgur.com/a/7aqs2en

Good gaming mouse in linux

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 15. September 2024 - 11:59

Hi friends !

A few years ago, I bought a lexip N93 that I really liked, and it was supposed to receive a dedicated linux app, but it was never delivered.

I'm on Ubuntu 24.04, and my mouse is becoming a pain with some hardware problems, so I'd like to change. Are there good linux-compatible gaming mouse that you'd recommend ? If possible, I've become quite fond of the thumb joystick, so I'd like this but this might not exist. Thanks for your help !

Can't launch steam

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 15. September 2024 - 10:54

I haven't opened steam in a while on my laptop and today when trying to launch it, it just didn't. Starting it from bash shows this output and to close it I have to exit the entire terminal - pressing ctrl+c doesn't do anything:

Problem with enabling G-SYNC on Linux. No available option in display settings in KDE

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 15. September 2024 - 10:47

I use Linux, specifically the CachyOS distribution based on Arch Linux. I also have the same problem on other distributions. I have an Nvidia RTX 4060 OC graphics card from Gigabyte, a Dell G2524H monitor, and I use Wayland. When I go to the KDE settings, specifically the display settings, there is no option to enable adaptive-sync. My monitor supports:

  1. Adaptive-Sync
  2. FreeSync™ Premium
  3. NVIDIA® G-SYNC® (Certificate)

On Windows, there is no problem; when I install the driver, G-SYNC automatically enables. The same goes for Xorg. I use DisplayPort 1.4 and have a DisplayPort 1.4 cable. I checked this on another monitor, and the problem is the same. I have the latest stable driver 560.35.03, which is 100% correctly installed. On another monitor with a Radeon card, adaptive-sync displays normally, but I no longer have that card for testing. I don’t know how to unlock this feature to enable adaptive-sync in KDE settings, as I want to use it in games. Maybe some packages are missing? Some configuration in the files? The problem is quite serious, and I can’t solve it. I searched the internet but didn’t find a working solution. Does anyone have an idea how to fix it??

I have kernel 6.10.

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 15. September 2024 - 10:46

Just built a new system with aspirations to switch to linux, is it possible to run w11 through it for vr and work stuff and how hard is it to set up or its easier to get a second drive for w11 shenanigans only?

Issue with Sober Roblox [Vulkan error]

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 15. September 2024 - 09:13

I honestly don't know why, but it stopped working like AT ALL, i tried updating, reinstalling sober (with full data delete), flatpak.

Then I tried getting some debug logs, so i can maybe know whats the issue. Turns out its vulkan error: [FLog::Graphics] VULKAN ERROR: vkCreateSwapchainKHR(device, &swapchainInfo, nullptr, &newSwapchain) returned -3 (VK_ERROR_INITIALIZATION_FAILED)

Just tried using normal KDE Plasma on x11, and it works. The issue is that i hyprland and cant switch to x11 (i searched, i think i cant).. So, is there any way I can get it running on wayland?

Data transfer in yugioh duel links

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 15. September 2024 - 08:58

The method of transferring data using konami id doesn't work in Linux. Does anyone have any possible solutions for it? I have already tried this method - https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/1471 but it doesn't work. The process of creating a virtual machine for this won't work for me since I am using an old laptop and VMs don't work well in this. Any other suggestions?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 15. September 2024 - 06:38

Every time I go to open steam, I get these two messages and it stops there:

How do I fix this/where can I find out why it's not running?

Proton doesn't like fullscreen

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 15. September 2024 - 06:05
Basic system info

I'm using a very old computer (2008 ish, Intel Core 2 Quad) with a Nvidia 750 TI, and attempting to see how far I can push it as far as gaming goes.

I'm using Debian 12 with Gnome desktop environment and the most recent Nvidia graphics drivers.

Problem

Every time I set a Steam game to fullscreen mode when using Proton, the game freezes after a few seconds. Pressing the Super / Windows key to show my open tabs allows the game to unfreeze, and the audio comes back on. But as soon as I try to return to the game window again, it re-freezes.

This does not happen when running native linux games.

With some googling, I've found a few other people who had my same issue, but they solved it in ways that don't apply to me.

1) One guy on Linux Mint ( https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?t=422129 ) fixed it by switching from Cinnamon to MATE, but that doesn't really apply to me. Maybe I should try switching to MATE? Idk. 2) Another person ( https://www.reddit.com/r/linux_gaming/comments/17efqy0/proton_games_freezing_when_in_fullscreen/ ) mentioned it might have to do with ForceCompressionPipeline being enabled, which I do have enabled to fix screen tearing. But, well, I don't want to deal with the tearing, so turning that off is not ideal.

I'm having this issue on multiple versions of Proton (8, 9, and Experimental), on multiple different games (tested with The Talos Principle, NaissanceE, and Babbdi, all of which had the same problem).

I know that The Talos Principle runs fine on native linux on this computer, I just wanted to try it with Proton to see if it would boost performance at all.

Any suggestions? Preferrably ones that don't involve buying a better computer. This isn't my main rig, it's just a side project, and I want to see what it can do with the parts I have.

8BitDo-Ultimate-Wired-Xbox-Controller not being recognized after waking system (Pop!_OS) from sleep

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 15. September 2024 - 05:45

Amazon listing of the controller in question

This is the wired controller with the 3-layout toggle, if it makes a difference.

My current only solution is to unplug and plug in the controller again.

Here's what I've tried to fix the issue so far:
-Update the firmware for it on a windows pc
-create udev rules like so

sudo nano /etc/udev/rules.d/99-usb-autosuspend.rules

insert these rules inside

ACTION=="add", SUBSYSTEM=="usb", ATTR{idVendor}=="2dc8", ATTR{idProduct}=="2016", TEST=="power/control", ATTR{power/control}="on"

ACTION=="add", SUBSYSTEM=="usb", ATTR{idVendor}=="2dc8", ATTR{idProduct}=="2016", TEST=="power/wakeup", ATTR{power/wakeup}="enabled"

and then ran

sudo udevadm control --reload

sudo udevadm trigger

I'm not too sure where to go from here. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I have the gstreamer and gstreamer-vaapi packages installed as well as the obs-gstreamer plugin. OBS reports the plugin is even loaded. Any idea what the issue could be?
