Linux for gaming
Yakuza: Like a Dragon crashing entire PC
For some reason my entire PC will turn off after playing the game after about 10-20 minutes.
My PC might be overheating but I haven't experienced this issue in any other game.
I tried lowering the graphics settings, increasing the fan speeds in the bios, and using different Proton versions (GE, Experimental, and 9.0-4) without success.
My specs are:
OS: Pop OS
CPU: Ryzen 7 5800 XT
GPU: RX 6800 XT
16 GB RAM

Silksong saves between Linux and Windows
Can someone tell me if saves between the Linux and the Windows version of Hollow Knight Silksong are the same files?
Can I just copy and paste them between OSs with no problem? I want to get the game on Gog and possibly use the native version :)

When i installed bazzite im stuck on this screen and I cant boot back into windows on my other drive it sends me to the same screen
Has anyone got frame generation working in emulators?
I'm looking to play through the MGS series and I'd like to use 2x frame gen on the older games locked to 30 fps though mainly MGS4 as in that case I'd be CPU bound.
If it helps I'm on CachyOS on an RTX 3060, so no smooth motion for me and a quick google search gave me basically nothing.

Force custom FSR scaling factor in all games manually
Hi All,
Even when not needed, I strongly prefer using FSR 3.1 instead of native AA implementations, also considering some artifacts (in my experience shimmering in games is present even without FSR, but the blurry image offered by TAA covers it). I play at 1440p with an RX 6750xt across windows and linux, and obviously I like my high settings.
The problem I often face is that by using FSR at native reselution the performance hit is very noticeable, but at the same time I find the 1.5x scaling factor of "Quality" mode a bit soft.
I experimented with optiscaler a bit to achieve 2 objectives: use the latest FSR dlls in all games, and play around with scaling factors. I found out that 1.3x would be the sweetspot for me. It usually offers performance a bit better with respect to FSR off, but the improved image clarity of FSR and less noticeable artifacts than 1.5x.
The problem is that in recent games swapping FSR version manually is quite simple, even on linux, but I often face some problem in linux when installing optiscaler (windows is easier for this).
Do you know a consistent way to manually override the scaling factors for at least one scaling preset of FSR without using any external tool? is there a file somewhere among the FSR files I can modify to do so? or maybe it is something modifiable in the game settings files?
Does anyone have an idea?

Will DualSense work with Linux (Ubuntu)?
Hello guys. I am a PC gamer. I used to be using the ps3 controller for some games. However, it had a problem with, "randomly pressing buttons" that seems common with PS3 controllers. You can look this up on Google or Youtube. Now I have also lost the cable used to charge it.
I have decided to buy a PS5 controller for 82 dollars, indeed I have already done it.
Do you think it's going to work with PC?
How bad of an idea is this?
Edit the original post had it mistakenly written that I was using a ps4 controller. I was using a ps3 one.
Edit I want to be using a wired connection

Lutris not running at all on Dietpi Bookworm
OS: Dietpi Bookworm (Debian 12 I think), Desktop Environment: LXDE
Running a Dietpi Bookworm OS on a VM, tried to install Lutris via `sudo apt install lutris` and it worked, but when trying to run it via shortcut, it says that the shortcut isn't valid
Ok, so I change the path to `/usr/games/lutris` and try again, but now there's a popup that says "Do not run Lutris as root"
So now I'm confused and try running it by cmd (`root@dietpii: lutris`) but is get back as `bash: lutris: command not found`, same thing when I run `ls`, even after `cd /usr/games` and trying to run it again, it gives the same "Do not run as root" output
ATP idk what could be the problem, I have wine installed and working normally, phython3 is installed, `sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade` as been ran i'm not sure how many times, I'm tempted just to give up on this OS
If anyone could help that would be cool

No reflections on: mirrors, aluminium cans, robots in Fallout 4
Hi!
I am running fallout 4 using lutris and ge-proton-10-12, and there is no reflections for some reason although all relevant settings are enabled and maxed. There is no light reflecting from the angle of the 10-mm pistol and it ruins it all.
Haven't found anything on the issue myself. Any ideas?

Has Anyone Successfully Run Helldivers 2 in Linux Mint 22.2 after the Recent Update?
I've been able to boot up Helldivers 2 in Steam in CachyOS no problem, but in Linux Mint, I can't seem to get Helldivers 2 to boot at all, even using some of the many tricks others have suggested (like --use-d3dll, or even 1 user who said they had to disable Wayland in Linux Mint). I have never before successfully booted in Linux Mint (having started in 22.1).
What might I be missing? The above screenshot is my current system info. The SSD from which I'm running Linux Mint is formatted as EXT4, & I'm using Steam installed from Flatpak.
Now admittedly, Helldivers is installed to an NTFS-formatted hard-drive, & was originally installed using Steam in Windows 10 Pro... Is that my issue, or is there something else that I haven't tried yet? I could split that hard-drive into 2 separate partitions, & format the other one as EXT4 & then install Helldivers 2 to that, I s'pose... But before I go through with that, I'm just wondering if anyone has anything else they had work for them!

Looking for a PC up to ~200$ to play AAA games on it. I am ready to make compromises in setting/scaling.
here is my plan A: HP t740 with AMD Ryzen V1756B 3.2GHZ Cores: 4 Threads: 8 + AMD RX 6400 4GB running CachyOS.
The Thin Client is ~80$ + the card is ~130$ total: 220$
Any suggestions for Plan B other PCs?

Controller does not want to work on Elden Ring in particular
Now I know there has been posts about this before, but most solutions I've found are for older versions of Steam cause I cannot for the life of me find the options in the settings menu mentioned in those posts.
Basically, my issue is that Elden Ring doesn't want to work with any of my controllers (Dualsense and Flydigi Apex 4). If I try to hit the "enable Steam input" button, nothing happens. If it is on, and my controller is connected, it just shows me a blank screen, and this is only for Elden Ring in particular. All my other games work as intended when I plug in a controller (Bluetooth, dongle, or cable)

Some games default to Integrated graphics
tldr: some games default to Integrated instead of dedicated graphics causing performance issues.
Build and OS:
MoBo:ASUS ROG Crosshair X870E Hero CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D @ 5.76 GHz RAM: Crucial Pro DDR5 RAM 64GB Kit (2x32GB) 6400MHz CL40 GPU:Sapphire AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT; Memory: 2TB Samsung 990 Evo plus M2 pcei SSD plus x2 4TB Samsung 990 Evo plus M2 pcei SSD plus one Samsung 870 EVO 4TB SATA III SSD. PSU: Vetroo 1000W ATX 3.1 OS: CachyOS x86_64, rolling
System updates done.
I'm currently experiencing some issues with 2 steam games, black myth wukong and Metal gear Delta snake eater. The games launches but it defaults to integrated amd graphics instead of dedicated GPU. Low FPS count, screen tearing and slow performance ensure. Interesting the CPU is not reaching high % levels plateau at around 5%. Happened I dementedly of proton version I've tried cachyOs proton, GE proton, proton experimental bleeding edge, proton hotfix and same issue. Other games (Cyberpunk 2077, persona 3 reload, EU4, crusader kings 3, etc) all work well. I've set the following commands: game-performance FSR4_UPGRADE=1 mangohub %command%; I've tried DRI_PRIME=1 %command% but games crashes. Had been unable to get to the point where I can adjust the in-game graphic settings due to low performance. Anyone else has experience something similar?

NTSync seems to have been merged, now expected in Wine 10.15
One of the Wine maintainers talked a few months ago, after the merge request for Ntsync by Figura, of different approach to implement that MR that may be better suited for the project. Here its the new MR reworked and also approved by the 2 main Wine project maintainers as well as Elizabeth Figura.
https://gitlab.winehq.org/wine/wine/-/merge_requests/8445
So technically NTsync has been worked on for the past 2 months and its now merged (2 days ago), it should appear in the next release Wine 10.15.

Linux for gaming and recording
I know this question has been asked many times but situation here is different probably cuz things are not working for me as they should
My PC Specs
CPU: Intel i3-4150T GOU: Intel HD 4400 RAM: 8GB DDR3 dual channel Menory: 480GB SSD Wifi and ethernet available
Distro I tried so far
i am trying to switch to linux for gaming and recording using obs for my youtube but I am facing problems
I tried these distro and desktop environments so far
—————————————————————————————
Linux mint cinnamon I get similar fps to windows and recording with obs just stayed frozen
Arch it felt laggy idk why I used arch install to install it
CachyOS good but it crashes after 2 to 3 days for no reason today it crashed cuz I was using wallpaper engine plugin from kde store
Pop os I tried to fullscreen the game and it made it super laggy the fps dropped to nearly 20 from almost 400 in windows mode
Nobara linux the obs was freezing/not recording at all encoder error
Currently using cachyos cosmic it is flickering when I use super+m to fullscreen when I use F11 as always to just zoom the game window in a small 1280x720 windows box instead of maximizing it to fullscreen
—————————————————————————————
Obs just freezes if u switch from windowed to fullscreen and vice versa
————————————————————————————— So my currently tested games are minecraft on lunarclient only I am unable to run any other games I have on steam I wanna play games like
